http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/09/secret-video-romney-private-fundraiser This is pretty awful to see what he truly thinks. Just terrible.
Just because he didn' t say it in front of cameras (as far as he knew) doesn' t mean that' s what he truly thinks, that' s what he wants those millionaires to think. Now that being said : "There are 47 percent of the people who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, that they are entitled to you-name-it. My job is is not to worry about those people." Contending that he is a self-made millionaire who earned his own fortune, Romney insisted, "I need your money cause I can' t win on my own." Lol. "Discussion on a whole series of important topics typically doesn't win elections." In Amurica.
No, it's pretty much what he thinks. and yeah, the whole "47%" thing was pretty ******ed. http://www.upworthy.com/pie-charts-does-half-the-country-really-not-pay-any-taxes?g=2&c=bl3
See: why not to trust politicians. There are exceptions to the rule, however. This is not a field I take much interest in at all, yet. Ron Paul caught my eye. Honest man, respectable in that sense. Idealistic some might say. It's no wonder he'll never win. It's rare that the honest man wins. O well. He's lost himself the election with that revelation, I think. You may breathe safe.
The thing is, politics isn't about saying what you think. Could this very well be Romney's true opinions, sure, but consider this--number one, he is under pressure from the Republican party to conform exactly to their beliefs. Number two, he's trying to win the vote of those he is surrounded by. Most of the rich people attending that event want to hear "I'm not giving handouts to the welfare class! Ayn Rand rahrahrah!!" He's telling them what they want to hear to get their vote. Again, not saying this isn't Romney's true face, but this is unfortunately a characteristic of our politics.
The statements he made are his official stances, but he was very blunt in the way he spoke of them. He spoke of how people shouldn't be given handouts or anything of the sort. That if they are unsuccessful in achieving work that pays them well enough to be fed, they have to fend for themselves. An example is that he wants to cut funding for Americorps: They ARE his stances, it was the way he spoke of them that showed his true colors.
And that' s leaving the VAT out of the equation, amongst other things. I' m not that surprised he' d try to sell such a reasoning, it can be heard in in my country too (see my parents), but it was so poorly worded that it underlined his own hypocrisy. I wonder if anyone fell for that lame scam attempt.
He's not trying to sell anything. He was presenting his honest opinions. The people in the audience will vote for him regardless because, considering it was a private fundraiser, a lot of bigiwgs and CEOs that were giving him a lot of money.
