    Tyrrus. It is said that long ago the Dragonqueen Zythia built this land for her devout followers to thrive in, but that was long ago. This is a land with great magical presence, the Archmages of the Citadel delve into magical power and encourage the practice of magic across the land. But it is also a time of great scientific progression as scientists attempt to drive themselves out of the dark ages and discover the secrets of the universe. (basically think european renaissance era but with magic). The myths and legends of the past are being disregarded in favour of rationality; mysticism and religion is making way for the inevitable progression of science.

    But recently events have happened which have shaken the foundations of our faith. Armies of the dead have been invading, things we never thought possible have returned, people are putting their faith in gods and dragons once again due to the mysterious events of recent years. Additionally a national curiosity has arisen about the lands beyond...

    Tyrrus is surrounded on three sides by sheer mountains and on a fourth by a stormy sea that few have crossed, few passages are available to escape the land but for most of Tyrranean history the people have never wanted to go beyond, they were safe in Tyrrus and the lands beyond were said to be savage and dangerous. After recent events have shaken our faith in our science and government though the people look to a greater power and begin to realise the truth of the myths and legends of the past.

    HOW TO PLAY
    This system is actually pretty complex so I would recommend reading through this otherwise you'll have no clue what's going on. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask.


    Health and Status
    You health is a measure of how much vigour and energy you have, how much fight you’ve got left. When health reaches 0 you are unconscious, or possibly dead.
    You limbs, head and torso have a status.
    Healthy - There’s nothing wrong
    Slightly Injured - you’ve been cut or bruised and that particular body part is not as effective. If a body part takes over 25% of your health as damage it is slightly injured.
    Severely Injured - you’re seriously wounded, using that body part hurts you and is much less effective. If a body part takes over 50% of your health as damage it is severely injured
    Crippled - that body part is unusable and your total health is reduced by 10 until you recover. If a body part takes 75% of your health as damage it is crippled.
    Being exhausted decreases your health.

    Mana and Favour
    Mana is how much magical energy you have. Using magic costs mana, you can’t use more mana than you have. Mana slowly recovers over time, at a rate of 1 mana every 15 minutes (in game time).
    Favour is how much favour with the gods you have and lets you perform incantations and rituals. You can gain favour by being devout to the gods, praying to them, and giving them sacrifices. Favour does not naturally recover.

    Attributes
    There are 8 attributes that define your character:
    Strength - determines how strong your character is. This is used in fighting and performing feats of strength.
    Constitution - determines how tough your character is. This is used in fighting, defending, resisting effects, and grants more health.
    Agility - determines how agile your character is, this is used in fighting, sneaking and performing feats of agility.
    Precision - determines how precise your character is. This is used in shooting ranged weapons, using your hands with precision, and generally performing feats of precision.
    Magic - determines how good your character is at magic. This gives more mana and is useful when performing feats of magic.
    Faith - determines how much willpower and devotion to the gods your character has. This is useful when doing rituals, performing feats of willpower, and grants higher favour with the gods.
    Intelligence - determines how perceptive and intelligent your character is. Useful in perception, crafting, and generally performing feats of intelligence.
    Charisma - determines how charismatic and persuasive your character is. Useful when talking and generally makes your character a bigger presence in any room.

    Levelling
    Rather than levelling up as a whole, you level in each individual attribute as you perform actions involving them. For example, if you successfully run away from someone chasing you, I would give you a level up in agility. As you level up in these attributes you gain attribute points in them. You also gain skill points.

    Skills
    As you level up in various attributes you gain skill points, which can be spent on skills in skill trees.
    The physical skills have three different skill trees, each of which has three branches
    Strength - Levelling up in strength and constitution grants points in this

    Magic
    Magic also has skill trees, but these grant you spells and advanced control over your magic. There are several different schools of magic:

    • Plant Magic
    • Druidery (Animals)
    • Geomancy (Earth)

    Those who worship the gods can use their divine power to their advantage with the use of rituals and incantations. These require setup and may take some time, but offer powerful rewards.

    To begin with, your character will not be very powerful. But as you level up that will change. You begin with 20 attribute points to put into your base attributes. You cannot put more than 5 in any one attribute.
    You begin with a level 1 in every attribute. You can choose one attribute to be level 3 in and one to be level 2 in. As the game goes on you’ll get more levels.
    There will be a number next to the box that says “Skill Points”, this is how many skills you can choose in that tree. In the Skills tab it should show all of the skills, with explanations of what they do if you hover your mouse over them. Pay attention to the layout of the skill tree (link in the Skills section of this page). The same goes for magic, rituals and crafting.
    (Special rule for the “Knowledge” bit, you can only learn these from a teacher or mentor. I will allow each character to start with one knowledge skill, if they wish, but the rest must be learned)

    Appearance: Sanderson has a well-kept appearance, his brown hair is styled stylishly and he has blue eyes. Sanderson wears typical nobility clothes most of the time but when he is out adventuring wears a fur coat and scarf. He seems to constantly have a genial expression and looks upon the world with kindness. He is 6”2' and has quite a stocky build.

    Personality: Sanderson is a curious individual who loves to discover more about the world, he is also a very polite chap and never judges others for their faults, he prefers to see the good in people. He is very talkative and can often ramble on about insignificant matters, he absolutely loves to talk about the outside world and his adventures. However, there is some subtle hidden anger behind that friendly face, a rage well controlled and barely noticeable to most.

    Backstory: When Sanderson was born the Bracklewood family was in a bit of a crisis, they were going down in significance in Varewyn and were going bankrupt, they even had to leave the Bracklewood Manor. While most of the family moved up to Eredan where they could live for less, Sanderson's parents still wanted him to have an education in Varewyn, thus he was sent to be cared for by the Zaunus's in Varewyn and grow up with them, learning all about technology and science from their respected professors. Sanderson quickly became friends with another child being brought up by the Zaunus's, Kolbjorn. But Sanderson was a curious child and always wanted to learn more, when he was 20 he and Kolbjorn made a plan to leave and discover more of the world. They travelled through the many ruined castles of Tyrrus, seeking secrets. They travelled among the tribes of the Hinterlands and learned of their dark magic. They even climbed up into the mountains and found dragons of all shapes and sizes. However it was when they travelled into the Northlands that Sanderson began to think they were going too far, they went even beyond Mortholme, the cold ruins that marked the northernmost point of the known world. But Kolbjorn would not give up and strode on beyond the Northern mountains. Sanderson had no choice but to leave him.
    When Osfryd Zaunus travelled beyond the mountains in 2015 Sanderson realised there was a whole new world out there to discover, but realised it would be dangerous to go alone. He began to set up the Adventurer's Society to discover the world beyond.

    Personality: Anthea is rather shy and not so confident in her powers. She tends to second guess her decisions. Anthea is a submissive kind of person and it isn't hard to gain her loyalty. She is not easily angered and prefers peace over conflict, but that isn't always how her life works.
    Origination: Whytehold
    Backstory: As a young girl Anthea showed her potential as a mage. She showed signs of her magic powers yet didn't know what to do with them. Her family was a poor family in the country side, one that didn't last long. Between illness and starvation it wasn't long into the girls life before she had no one left. However not all hope was lost for the young girl. During a day of begging for food the girl displayed a small amount of her powers, this caught a mans attention. He was a wealthier man from Whytehold. The man ended up taking Anthea to his home with him, she was ten at the time.

    Anthea lived with Grason, the man who picked her up off the street. In exchange for saving her from that life, he wanted two things from her. The first was she was to work like a servant for him, doing what he asked her to. The second part of the deal was not as simple however. Whenever she was done her work for the day either Grason or one of his men would take Anthea out back to train her in her powers, but not only her own powers but incantations too. They would never say the motives behind this training, but it happened without fail, she would train. As life grew busier for Grason, Anthea's work load grew to more. It came to the point she only had time to train, once every couple of weeks. Her progression on her powers are slow from a mix of not having time, and not enough confidence in her powers, however slowly she is learning to be a decent mage. At the very least through all of it, she was able to learn to control the magic, even if it wasn't strong, the most important part was out of the way.

    Personality: Laurentinus is a rather serious person. He takes his job, and the protection of others very seriously. This young man strives for success in his own way, success within the guards, not great wealth. Laurentinus takes great pride in his nation and would do anything for it, no matter the danger to him. Though he cares for others and their well being, Laurent has a tough time showing it, he isn't good at making it clear that he cares about anything or anyone. He tends to be alone and is seen as a bit of a stick in the mud because of his devotion to the rules.
    Origination: Eredan
    Backstory: Laurentinus joined the city guards the moment he was old enough to do so. Ever since then he trained and worked hard to work his way up to being the best. The only problem with this is that he hasn't had much of a chance to prove himself. Laurent trains hard to be a good guard, but a lot of times there isn't much need for a skilled guard, just someone with enough threat to make people stop what they are doing. Even still Laurent always keeps a sharp eye out on the city, on or off duty. He stays out of the way of others and lives his life mostly by himself, scared that if he gets close to someone that he will lose them too.

    Growing up Laurentinus' father was a great guard, one of the best and highly known and respected, yet not even he could stop the death of Laurentinus' mother when she was murdered one day in their home. His father went on a hunt for the man who killed her and never returned, Laurentinus was left with the care of his younger sister. The boy did everything in his power to protect her, but couldn't stop the man who endeared her, made her fall in love with him. He took her away from him, claiming to want to marry her and ended up doing horrible tests, and practices with dark incantations on her. He then murdered her, dumping the dead body at Laurentinus' door. Laurentinus was left with nothing except a job within the guards and a burning desire to stop all evil that was in the world.

    Personality: He's confident and a bit of a flirt. He respects people who fight well and fight fairly. Equally, he is narcisstic at times and prone to getting frustrated when there is little progress made in anything. This is why he loses at fights often, because he loses his cool and with it, his technique.

    Backstory: Aston is the son of a wealthy merchant who owns some of the mines that produce the raw materials used in the creation of Whytehold steel. Because his father is so closely related to the business of arms because he provides the materials for them, Aston grew up with a healthy interest in the noble art of combat. He often read stories about great warriors and one of them depicted a warrior famous for his dual wielding technique. Aston asked his father if, on his twelfth birthday, he could begin to learn how to fight. His father accepted and paid the best tutor he could find to teach his son. It took a lot of effort to make him into a decent fighter, but with effort he became better. At sixteen, he was allowed to attend a school of swordsmanship run by one of the finest tutors in Tyrrus where he began to excel, such that he was able to enter an advanced class of fighters which allowed for finer technique and experimentation for specific fighting styles for unconventional/uncommon weapons. Aston joined this class for dual wielding and began to practice the art.

    Eventually, he left to take his talents out to the wider world. He entered low to medium competitions, not being high enough status to fight with the much better trained and even wealthier great knights. However, he managed to earn a reasonable reputation in those lower levels of competition, beating some of the young knights that fell below their more skilled kin and some notable squires. Despite this, he found that the competitions became boring because to him, they were all the same thing over and over again and there were only so many fangirls that one could put up with. Aston decided that he had no interest in his father's mines and would leave that to his younger sister Sara and go out into the wider world. Thusly, he joined the Adventurer's Society. As he had a reasonable amount of experience, he was able to take a leading role in the Society.

    Backstory: Abandoned by her mother, Kara was taken in by a stranger who taught her how to fight, survive, yada. She stayed with the stranger, who only went by Mam, and helped raise other children. Around her sixteenth year she discovered that Mam was using the children as a gang force to fight and steal, and since went on the run, refusing to be used for such base purposes. She feels that she has a higher calling, other then stealing her meals and working magic for a small amount of coin, but she has yet to find what it is.

    Backstory: Bryce had always dreamed of becoming an accomplished fighter and swordsman, until he accidentally drank one of mummy's strange brews. According to his dear old mum, it messed with the chemistry in his head, and whenever he becomes enraged he turns into a murdering psychopath that only sees red. His parents sent him away to be apprenticed, more for their safety then his, and his master had the sense to make him train in the woods and get more of a handle on his "madness". He has returned home now, in hope of redemption and rejoining the family he has longed for.

    Backstory: Panola grew up in her Tribe out in the wilderness who passed on their traditions and beliefs to her. She knows little past her Tribe, but has been chosen to complete a right of passage before being the next Tribe leader, in which, with the blessing of her parents, she must venture down towards the south on a journey which is supposed to bring her enlightenment.

    Personality: Aedan is relatively mature and attempts to remain calm in all situations, though his curiosity may overpower his normal good sense. He does not like violence and seeks to avoid it when possible. He cares about nature and the environment because he grew up in such close proximity to it. He is slow to anger and when angered, prefers to express it in words rather than in violent action. In certain circumstances, he will resort to violence but will avoid killing where possible. This is often in cases where the opposing side has committed an obvious wrong.
    Origination: Woodholme
    Backstory: Aedan grew up in a community of druidic people, dedicated to Earth Magic and becoming one with nature in their forest home. While by no means ignorant of the modern world of Tyrrus, they preferred to stick to the traditional ways where possible. Aedan did not pay too much attention to the particulars of the Religious aspect, though he did hold the Mother in a high regard as all his people did, because he was dedicated to a more practical approach. He focused on learning how nature could provide for humans and how to use nature to aid mankind's struggle for survival. He learned some applications for medicine, and some applications for alchemy. When he got older, Aedan found that he was curious about the outside world and so set out to explore it with the blessing of his people. They believed that someone should explore the beauty of the Mother's world, so they allowed Aedan to explore.

    Personality: Alice is rather shy and does not know much of her magic powers. Alice is not all that knowledgeable when it comes to magic and only recently discovered she has magic to begin with. She is rather reserved and sometimes does not know what to say.

    Backstory: Alice had a rather simple life. When Alice was five there was a mysteries flooding in her house in the middle or the dry season. Alice later found out that that a pipe broke in the basement of her home. The only odd thing after that day was she was kept away from water as much as possible. Her mother told her a story about the rich putting something in the water and to limit the water she would come across. She had gotten older and her mother seemed to be increasingly on edge as the years went on. Alice sometimes felt like her mother maybe hiding something from her. She never asked her mother what was bothering her and she continued to live a simple life. One day she was out in the nearby woods. She stood by a winding river that leads to the town she lived in. She was out later then she should be when a wolf leaped out to attack her, then something unexpected happened and the water shot out and knocked the wolf back. Alice was so frightened by this she rushed home and talked to her mother about this. Her mother then told her a story about magic and that she had some. The next day she left the town to explore the world.

    Backstory: After his previous adventures he once again returned back to his hometown, after a while Elder Greenbeard(No not to be confused with Treebeard) got fed up with him and laced some of his lentil soup with mushrooms that would weaken the barbarian, who immediatly threw a fit, and left the place in search of another journey to grow stronger once more. He got wind of this so called adventurers society and decided why not join them, it's not like he'd run into anyone that he knew, where ever they had gone.

    Backstory: Nasir doesn't socialize much unless he can make a profit from it. He hates people, people hate him, it works out rather nicely. He had a relatively standard upbringing, nothing too fancy or anything, until he broke into the slavery trade. He loved it, he got paid for ruining peoples' lives, what more could a man want? Day by day he attempted to capture people and sell them into slavery, sometimes taking homeless people by surprise and other times actually convincing them it could be a good life (but those ones were incredibly stupid and nobody wanted them), until the undead began rising. Ever the businessman, Nasir didn't see this as a threat but rather as an investment. What could be better than a slave that you could work to death repeatedly?

    Not much happened during Tobias' childhood. He grew up in an abusive household, being yelled at and injured all over the place. Eventually, he came to like it to an extent, almost as much as he liked harming others. This didn't change as he got older, shown in many ways.
    He found work as an assassin, doing jobs for small amounts of money, but over time this began to bore him. He wanted more, he wanted more challenging jobs, and he found it with the uprising of the dead. He could kill them but they were much more difficult, and so he dedicated much of his time to picking them off. Some may come to see him as a hero, others as the scumbag he is, but who really cares?

    Backstory: Lumen's early life was filled with various things being expected of him due to his lineage and while he was certainly proud of who he was descendant of, he was not fond of all the expectations. To him they were restricting his way of life, keeping him from being how he truly wanted to be. Unfortunately there wasn't much that he could do in lew of complaints since any complaints of his were met with the expectation card being thrown right at his face. Being face with his innate desire to avoid disappointment, he had little choice but to endure it. Time went on and while Lumen did gradually adjust to having all the expected placed onto his, with the help of his friends he was able to remain his carefree self and not lose sight of who he truly was.

    Born in Thassalus, Iris was someone who had been made to learn the importance of her religion early on. Due to her family owning a shrine, Iris was someone who had been made to learn magic and incantations early on, and due to being somewhat proficient in both, her help was often sought after within the shrine. However, as time had gone on, and all she had done was work for the shrine, Iris felt as though she was missing something crucial in her life. It wasn't as though she felt unhappy, more so a feeling close to being incomplete. Of course, not being able to figure out just what it was she was missing, Iris decided to start looking for just what it could be, and if it could be found in other people. So, she took to trying to learn more about others, and after awhile realized that the answer she was looking for would never present itself while she stayed put in Thassalus, and thus had decided it was time to move away from her home life and find just what it was in the world that she needed to find.

    Personality: Kevin is quite serous when he needs to be. He is troubled by his past and said very little about it. While not always true when he was younger he loves to discover more about the world and travel. He can be rather intelligent. After ending up in Whytehold he attempts to remain calm in all situations due to his past and not wanting others to go on the same path.

    Backstory: At a young age of 5 he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. He was picked up a gang of assassins whose life mission was to make as much money as possible. Not know what to do he had not choice, but to join the assassins. The assassins kept him on watch all time. He had no means of escape nor a reason to. Over the years the assassin’s gang began to trust him. They taught him the way of stealth and assassins, but yet he was never as good as them. 8 years later at the age of 13 he was fully accepted by the assassins, but he could not help think that they still did not trust him. He was always with another member of the assassin’s gang. 2 years after that he was out on job in Whytehold with the members of the group. Something went wrong and they left them to take the heat. That was when he was taken in to the militarily. They soon discovered that Kevin could not have done the dead, that he was not trained enough to do it. Kevin soon was taken into the militarily and trained there. While it was odd for someone so young to go into the militarily he did it anyways. Most of all he wanted to stop the assassins. Militarily training was, by far harder than anything he did before. They had to go in snow and water and anything under the sun. Being in the militarily he was able to travel quite a bit. Kevin now 21 was ready to set out on an adventure.

    This is the character sheet. The only bits you need to worry about are the stats (far left) and the skills and perk chart (far right). Each of you will have to allocate numbers to the stats (strength, agility, etc.) on the character sheet. You are given 6 numbers to stick into your stats:
    17, 15, 12, 10, 5, 2
    So for exampe if I were playing a fighter I would put that 17 into strength and the 2 in magic, since magic would be my least needed stat.

    Additionally you need to put skill points into the skill chart, which may seem complicated at first. Basically you have 5 points, stick them into various skills you want (bear in mind the "light herald" and "dark bringer" are not available yet)(Also if you want the rituals you have to have a point in the corresponding "favour" skill. So for Dark Rituals you have to have Unholy Favour and for Divine Calling (light rituals) you have to have a point in Holy Favour). Read the skill chart section above for more information on this.

    Each of your characters has a tab at the bottom for them, please only edit your own character sheet (I'm looking at you Vlad)
