    The memory loss is a side effect from the massive hangovers.

    like in stars wars R2 D2 has all these badass weapons and crap in him in the prequels but then in New Hope he just rolls around can gets captured by the sand people

    He became property of Bail Organa, a senator, and there was not need for the badassery. Also, he was Leia's while she was a child. No reason for cool weapons.
