I started learning guitar today...

Harder than piano and bass and easier than violin, I'd say.

I suck, but I refuse to take lessons because I hate being forced to play a song I don't wanna play :lolface:. Self-teaching ftw.

 

This thread makes me sad because I cannot play any instruments. At all.

 

From what I've heard... once you know the basics you can just go look up guitartabs or youtube videos of people playing a certain song.

 

Yeah, I've only been playing for like twenty minutes and I can already read tabs and do some stuff by ear. Not too difficult. Getting it to sound good/staying in the correct hand position is the issue xDD.


@Misty - If you want to play one, I say save up your money and buy a keyboard, they're fun and easy to learn ;o.

 

I've actually got a keyboard right behind me haha. I'm just pretty crap at it. I don't have the patience.

@Misty - Lol, my keyboard is in my bedroom.

Maybe poke around at music shops until you find an instrument you like? xDD I found my recorder from like fifth grade this summer and played it a bunch. You could always try singing too ;o.

 

I would try to learn if my guitar wasn't missing a string and out of tune.

I'll stick with the keyboard.

My little sister has a guitar. I feel that I play it better than she does. I don't know how to play from notes, though. I can play twinkle twinkle little star on the piano, and are you sleeping.

 

I want a melodica.

 

Getting guitars restrung = cheap and easy, in fact I just got mine back from getting new strings yesterday (I've had it for years and never tried playing 'till now).

Also tuning is easy as well, just use the keyboard to get the correct notes to tune to. The strings shouldn't break unless they're really old or you intentionally tune them higherandhigherandhigherandhigher until they snap.

I CANNOT SAY THE SAME FOR VIOLIN STRINGS HOWEVER... >: -bad experiences here-.

Keyboard/Piano ftw though, that's honestly probably my favorite out of all the instruments I play.

My parents got me one for christmas and I never got around to learning.

It's a pretty cool instrument as well.

 

Yeah it seems pretty easy for me, also tabs are ridiculously easy to learn. Goodness. And this is coming from someone who learns by ear sooo much better than by reading notes and stuff.

You probably don't need to take lessons to learn if you want to pick it up, just YouTube some basic hand positioning instructions and it's pretty straightforward after that IMO.

I can play Hikari, Umineko no Naku Koro ni, Fur Elise, Dear You [From Higurashi], Another Side [from KH], the Objection theme from Phoenix Wright and uhhh a bunch of others on the piano. But guitar... Eh xD.

I'm a terrible singer. I would like to play the kazoo or something awesome like that. Melodica sounds cool, as does glockenspiel.

Also, see if you could try the instruments that interest you then, you may end up liking one quite a bit.

 

I just started my guitar class in school today. I knew nothing about music though, since the last time I had a music class was 4 years ago, and to add onto that, I don't even know how to tune my guitar ._.

BTW, my guitar's an acoustic. Yamaha F-310.

 

I can read music perfectly, I just...don't play any instruments xD

I love my guitar. It's all fairly simple to learn just takes a little time.

I've been interested in learning the keyboard but I'm trying to decide whether to shell out the cash on a keyboard or a turntable.
