    A gradient is two different colors that slowly blend together.
    Here is an example
    Some people use them to blend their backgrounds.

    Another way to blend your sigs is to place your image into the sig without messing with it's image size then blurring it. Duplicate that layer and move it around until you fill up the sig. Then paste in your image to the size you want and it should blend well.
