I read about this earlier. Apperantly a majority of people who frequent 4chan become incapable of communicating through text without greentexting. This, coupled in with how a vast majority of tumblr users communciating purely through gifs, is not a very good combination.

Makes you wonder how communcation online will be done in the near future.

If I can make this face and this sound, then that seems like a positive thing.

With the way people's spelling is going nowadays I say gifs and dancing is probably a step up.

Quotes require more effort and are ugly. Greentexting is far more convenient regardless of the board, and to be honest, I used it before I knew what it was or had visited a chan. You are the only person I have met to use quotes like that. As far as I am concerned, you are pushing a personal tic onto other people.

    The whole point of
    >This
is because it was how you quoted e-mails back in dial up days
    >The reason you greentext on 4chan is because it's the only way to quote someone
Greentexting without the green looks ****ing ******ed.
Also I'm not pushing it on anybody
It's just that your way sucks.

The comment about Dial-Up makes sense. I used it until about mid-2008.

Do you know what looks even more ridiculous? Multiple quotes. It takes up space and is ugly. If you are going to go through that kind of trouble then set a Post Template for greentexting and use that.

I do not consider it primitive in the least. In order to conserve space and save time, using more efficient methods is far from primitive. If it were easier to set up quotes than greentext then I would accept your assessment, but making something more convoluted is not progress.

Quotes is the click of a button
Only plebeians are incapable of this
Quotes look better because it doesn't look EXACTLY the same as your unquoted text.
Atleast greenetext on Futaba boards is GREEN and thus stands out more.
White on grey is already bland enough atleast with a box around the text it doesn't look like a whole dickload of text squeezed together.

    >It occurs to me per your frequent outbursts that you may find yourself upset by my behavior, confirm or deny if/when prudent?

Also your shitty format vanishes when I quote you.

Clicking a button is not as easy as typing >. If my argument had been about it being doable, then they are equal, but > saves time.

The box is what I dislike. To be more specific, when I do
    >this
I want it to be visibly differentiated from

To avoid misconceptions, on top of the quote boxes being ugly on top of each other.

First you complain of it not being green, then you complain of it being green.

    To recap:

    • Only you use quotes
    • They are ugly and take up space
    • They take more time and effort than typing >
    • They can be mistaken for an actual quote
    • Coloration can be used to differentiate without wasting space and creating misconceptions
