It's not just about "getting the girl;" it's also about what to do after the fact. And besides that, much of it is solid all-purpose advice for being a more dynamic and interesting person. Advice tailored to the people who need it; the ones to whom social interaction does not come naturally, the ones who wonder why this happens when you do this and why everybody gives you a look when you say that, etc.
