Why do you need convincing? If you want to join then join, if it doesn't appeal to you then don't. It's a fun little website that's easy to get set up on, not as invasive as Facebook, not as generally embarrassing as Myspace, but it still lets you network and share shit with friends. Like a slightly more purposeful Twitter, I guess. It's also a platform for a lot of artists, graphic or otherwise, to showcase their stuff when deviantART becomes too obnoxious.

I guess my understanding of it is that it's trying to be every other site at once... and succeeding to a fair degree. Share funny videos, promote somebody's awesome artwork, write about stuff, talk about stuff. Prettify your home page, make it your little web ID. Make a collage of stuff you like, whether you're posting it or re-blogging it. Talk to friends, share with friends, have late-night quote pyramids with friends. It's nothing new, per se, but it's all wrapped up in a neat little package. It's fun. Maybe a bit of a time-waster, but fun. And hell, we're gonna waste time anyway, what else is Youtube for.

So yeah if that sounds cool to you then join. But that's just what it's about. No convincing needed either way.
