There are people who claim not to be afraid of anything, no fear at all. Do you believe in that? I personally don't.

It's impossible for anyone to be completely fearless. A fear does not have to be involved with a living thing. Neither does it have to be a nonliving object. People who are not afraid of objects can always be afraid of an idea. A concept is actually a pretty powerful thing that can amplify fear. It would be a lie to state that you fear nothing.

I personally do not fear any living organisms like insects or etc. It's more to do with what I find to be unappealing than fear. However, with that being said, what I really do fear are certain concepts.

Fear is a normal emotion, just like happiness, anger, sorrow, etc. Fear builds from many different reasons, and it's a normal emotion to feel. Unless if there's some sort of disorder or something that makes people unable to feel emotions (I don't know if there is; is there?), then I don't believe that people who can feel any other emotion cannot feel fear. Some people may claim to not be afraid of anything, but they tend to be insecure about their fears and prefer not to think about them, or they may believe they actually aren't able to feel fear but it's still possible for fear to be triggered in them. The point is, I do believe everyone feels fear.

No. Everyone is afraid of something. There will always be something that makes one feel afraid, creeped out, nervous, discomfort etc.

We're human and it's natural for one to say they're afraid. It doesn't even have to be something that's alive. I've personally been saying it a lot lately, due to personal reasons.

I'm personally afraid of a few living things but I'm mainly afraid of certain things that come natural to life, you can say. As in losing a loved one and things along those lines. And possibly the idea of something happening. I guess I can be paranoid at times when it comes to the people I love. But that's just me. I'm a very caring person.

If not a soul on earth was scared of anything, it wouldn't be the way it is. Like Nanaki & Aura have posted, fear is another emotion that is triggered by different things. It may be the loss of a loved one, a bad memory re-surfacing (the person thinking about it too much) or perhaps even better moments in life.

There are those big-buff guys & (some girls) who claim they're not afraid of anything. When in fact, there is at least one thing they fear. It's pretty much impossible in my opinion to say that your not afraid of anything. Maybe it is embarrassing like clowns or scarecrows. (For me its both, if you leave me alone with either of the two for more than thirty seconds I'll go insane). It's somehow like elephants aren't afraid of anything but mice.

I think children can bravely say they aren't afraid of anything because they don't know enough about the world yet. They (well most of them are) courageous, brave and adventurous. They enjoy being scared and its all part of growing up. You also have the classic "I'm scared of the dark." Just imagine sunshine, lollipops and rainbows too (you won't be scared after that, I'm sure xD)

Unless your an emotionless prick, who doesn't react to anything at all. Including deaths, marriages & new life, then there's a possibility you may not be scared of anything.

The only thing to fear is fear itself.

So since I'm unaffected by death, don't care about marriage and really don't care that some one's been born make me emotionless? Sorry that I've seen someone die and all so it doesn't affect me since then.

I'm **** scared of getting an operation, other than that, nothing will scare me.

EDIT: Just realised this is a discussion. Yeah, basically what everyone else has been saying. Everyone's scared of something, even if they say they're not afraid of anything.

I'm pretty sure that doesn't make you an emotionless prick. Other people react to different things,it just could just be that they are afraid to commit. There are plenty possibilities. But it does not make you an emotionless prick. I can tell you that.

If you are reluctant to confess and/or admit that you are afraid of something, does that not mean that you fear what others will think of you? So even if it's something small...there's something people will fear.

Okay, I realised that what I wrote wasn’t exactly the nicest thing & may have affected some of you. Sorry for that guys. No it doesn't make emotionless pricks.

There's no way anybody could be fearless, the people who state it just never face their fears. Me? I can't go outisde at night coz my mum made me watch the Investigative channel when I was little... sure I'm safe , but at what cost? xD

I'm also too scared to suntan... am afraid of death.. etc

I've only been to one wedding in my life, I don't plan to get married either, I'm not very good with commitments, as started with mum making me watch the Investigative channel

Certainly. As fear is a survival mechanism, it is highly likely that there are those who have a disorder who do not fear anything.

Fear is an emotion that comes when you have a limited knowledge of something, like 'do monsters live under my bed' or 'Will my girlfriend be okay' or 'Will America get nuked?'.
All of these are an example of fear, and they all circle around the fact that the person has a limited knowledge on the subject, so yes I am very sure that everyone is scared of something.

Everyone has something they fear, albeit underlying. Most of humanity's undesirable qualities, such as jealousy, pride, greed or sloth, come from a fear of losing one's own welfare or the fear that one's welfare is insufficient compared to your fellow man's.

Also, fear can be a useful instinct. The promise of pain is something that keeps us from doing a number of stupidities, such as walking through an open fire.

Everyone has a fear, no matter how hard they try to hide it, bury it under other things, the fear is still there.

    Chuck Norris has no fears.

Seriously, though, if fear is an emotion, do sociopaths have fear?

My thoughts too. Even if you try to ignore it, it's still there.
I also think it's possible to cure some fears, kinda like the ones of being afraid of the darks and clowns, but not all. Some of them can stay with someone for the rest of their life, like hearing something on the news that's happened relatively close to you, or experiecing something first hand.

Everyone is afraid of something. Even if they haven't come across it yet. I didn't know I was afraid of millipedes until I actually came across one. :.-.:

I only wish to make one point:

So long as a people can die or be thrown into absolute despair, they can fear.

Everyone has a trigger. Everyone has something that they would run screaming from. (Likewise, everyone has something they'd fight for, but that's another discussion.)

I, for instance, am afraid of bees and ladders. Not precisely a phobia, just a "I don't like them, but I can still stand to climb a ladder/be near bees if necessary". Everyone is like this. Most people have one thing they wouldn't touch with a 29 1/2 foot pole, but everyone has something that just creeps them out.
