Kingdom Hearts II Can a KH game be Speed Run'd?

Not quite sure where to put this since it encompasses all three and is essentially a "Help" thread since it goes into the intricate complexities of the system.

If you will direct your attention to Speed Demos Archive, you will see that RPGs and action RPGs have been successfully Speed Run'd. That brings us to the topic at hand.

Can a KH game be Speed Run'd?

In theory, yes. However, in practice, it will not be an easy thing to do. Apart from considering the uncontrollable luck factor, one has to balance the need to level for stronger Sora and thus faster kills against that of plain speed in completion itself, which will inevitably sacrifice levels and thus power.

How then? What steps can be taken to get through the games faster without sacrificing too much power and thus lengthening the mandatory fights? What legit (ie. non-code) glitches can be exploited to help speed Sora and co. through the game?

Analyse the situation, taking into account the notes present in SDA, and discuss.

 

Hm.... lots and lots of potions? Skipping worlds? Who cares about Donald and Goofy? O_o

 

KH 1 couldn't because of the Uber-long cutscenes that can't be skipped. Sooooo......

best bet is KH: FM and KH2

 

actually, KH2 cutscenes can be skipped by pressing start and choosing "Skip Cutscene"

 

it's VERY easy in KH1 and KH2, doesn't seem possible in COM. in KH1, u just gotta pick the shield, drop the sword. and set up to level up fast. in KH2, just skip any worlds u don't wanna do. u dont' even gotta worry about levels in that game. and keep pressing triangle and using reflect.

 

Beat number 2 in 8 hours and 39 minutes. so i consider this a speed run(third play through).

 

Run from all battles...
Equip dropped Potions, Ethers, etc.
Use the strongest Keyblade that you have avaliable.
If during a boss fight, she/he/it summons Heartless/Nobody (not common with Nobodys) then just target the boss.
