Alright, now we all know and love Death note, correct? An anime in which a gifted teenage boy becomes bored with his life, and one day finding a death note on the ground, finds purpose in mass-killing and creating a new world without crime.

I believe many of you also know of the popular anime Code Geass, in which an exiled genius prince gains the power to control the actions of anyone who meets his gaze. He uses this power to, like Light from Death Note, change the world through Military conquest and rebellious guerrilla Warfare.

I introduce to you now, Lost+Brain. While Currently only a manga, this AMAZING story somehow manages to...Completely Replicate Death Note in every way possible. This manga is the story of a Teenage boy who's amazingly smart and bored with the world, he has developed an asshat disposition and a nasty attitude over the years and basically wants to kill EVERYONE no matter who they are. Like Light, he finds purpose in killing. How does he kill? Hypnosis of course. Yes...this manga combines Death Note and Code Geass. The manga, despite it's amazingly creative plot, boasts a ****** art style, terrible text, and a story which seems to be an exact replica of the standard Death Note/Code geass crossover fanfiction. This manga has not existed long, and I do hope it ends soon, whoever made it is obviously a brainless monkey with no creative talent or reason to live. I've read as much as I have thus far while laughing my ass off before flying into a fit of rage.

    Thoughts?

I read it and you were right. This really screamed to me that it was Death Note in disguise with some Code Geass tossed in for flavor. The teen is super smart, bored, hates others, and is a lot like Light after he's had the notebook for a time. The character 'template' is only part of the issue though really as there are many characters in novels, comics and anime etc that are like this. What is the problem is that you hit it dead on that the whole scenario is exactly feeling like Death Note or Code Geass, where even the characters around the main seem to mimic others. The storyline is a copy and the manga is fortunate they have a decent artist, but it messes up again with the artwork being close to Death Note's. If there was anything original in this manga, I did not find it. I hope it never makes it to anime and gets sued and deleted. It's one thing to be inspired and take off on ideas. It's another to rob people blindly and claim it as your own. boo..hiss.

Jap copyright law is some funny ****, you can make a NarutoxInuyashaxIchigo comic and sell it and you can't sue them, because they are labeled as parodies and so protected by law.
If the author wanted he could have named the char the same and there wouldn't be much DN creators could do.

That's true, Xidon. Just this doesn't appear to be a funny humorous thing done. Instead, it's a rip off and the story is all seriously doing it too. xD

Ha, it's sad, but coming up with something good that hasn't been made up yet is kinda hard to do.

But that's a hell of a lot different than ripping off someone else's good idea.
