❯ ❯ You and your group of friends have always been into the 'supernatural' more than most. It wasn't until you found an old spell book in the bookstore down the street from your house that you soon learned maybe things weren't so make believe after all. The five of you would create potions that actually worked. You could truly commune with the dead. Death has visited you on several occasions, never pleased to see your face whenever summoned. You make things go bump in the night and no one knows about it, save for your little group. It always seemed harmless. Who could you really hurt if you didn't use the potions on anyone but yourself? You never risked the angering of Death by bringing back the dead. You followed the rules.

❯ ❯ Everything was just fine until a couple of months ago when your dear friend Loxare was found dead in the park. The four of you called on her every night, to no avail. Why wasn't she answering? There were so many unexplained questions revolving her death. You just wanted to get to the bottom of it. Who would have done such a thing? Why would they hurt her? Even the police had no leads. You've tried asking other spirits, but they have no clue as to why you cannot contact her. Death has evaded your summons.

❯ ❯ You decide it is about time try something new. There has to be another way to find out what happened to your friend, right? Getting off of your bed, you go across the room to collect your phone. With this, you can send a message to your friends.

❯ ❯ You open up your phone and begin to scroll through your contacts. You highlight the names of the friends you wanted so that you may send a mass message.

❯ ❯ Your stomach begins to rumble and you decide it best to make some snacks for you and your friends. Getting up, you make your way to the kitchen. After a quick inspection of the cupboards and refrigerator, you decide on sandwiches and chips. After slaving away for several minutes, they are ready.

❯ ❯ You carry the tray of chips and sandwiches out to the living room and set it down on the coffee table. There are still a few minutes before your friends arrive, so you decide to turn on the television. The news is playing, something you hate watching. Instead, you change it to some show about how a dolphin saved a drowning child and it is now being added to the Water Patrol.

❯ ❯ There is a knock at the door and you get up to answer it. Through the window, you see two cars. It is assumed that Roxam and Tales carpooled, given their relationship. You answer the door with a disheartened smile. Everyone knows that Loxare's death hit you the hardest. You can't help but feel responsible, as if this was somehow connected to your Grimoire.


❯ ❯ "Hi guys," you greet your friends, leading them to the living room. They follow after you, everyone taking up their usual seats. Lastly, you sit.

❯ ❯ Glancing up at the television, you catch the ending of the dolphin documentary. You nod your head in its direction and clear your throat. "So apparently this dolphin saved a little kid and now they are integrating it into the Water Patrol for the police force. The likelihood of that ending well seems slim to none." It did sound rather farfetched. The dolphin was wild and untrained. It would be far too much work to domesticate an adult dolphin. Your friends seemed to agree with this statement.

❯ ❯ Roxam reached forward to seize a sandwich when the sight of something caught her eye. The spine of the grimoire peaked out from under the couch and she pointed to it with the sandwich in her mouth. "You brought that down here?" she asked curiously with a mouthful of food.

❯ ❯ You nod your head slowly and reach under the couch to pull out the grimoire, setting it on the table by the snacks. The cover is made of leather and appears old and worn out. There is a buckle latch to keep it shut and you undo the latch. The book falls open, smelling of parchment paper and Mountain Dew. "I thought we could try looking for a new spell. There has to be something strong enough in here."

❯ ❯ "I thought we've tried pretty much every summoning spell in their for spirits? I don't think Loxare wants to talk to us," Elegant chimed in.

❯ ❯ Shaking your head, you turn to your friend. "Not for Loxare. We all know something isn't right. She wouldn't just ignore us. She would want us to know what happened to her and if she was okay. I think we need to try summoning Death again."

❯ ❯ Tales leaned forward, resting a hand on your shoulder. "You know Death's ignoring us. He won't come."

❯ ❯ You brush off his sign of pity and stand up. "It's different. This time, I found a spell that will work for sure. Death will not be able to ignore us." There's a strange glint in your eyes that leaves your friends wary.

❯ ❯ Do you:
