    the story

Many years ago, in Earth's sister dimension, there lived a race of people similar to the humans that we know. Their technology was far beyond our own and every generation bore a handful of extremely special abilities. These abilities were given throughout a generation and were given to those who had the potential to be great leaders, warriors, even kings and queens. They lived among their peers, unknowing of the powers that lie dormant in their bodies. After generations and generations of not having to use the powers, they began to dwindle. For what were powers if there was no need for them? The Grand Councilwoman of the lands knew that it was a problem, for she was a power carrier herself, and she could feel the bond loosening. The powers were there for protection against unknown evils, against the chance that someone might go the wrong way, and choose the wrong path. If those powers no longer existed, their world would be subject to the hand of any evil that came across it.

As the Grand Councilwoman neared the end of her life, the evil she feared became a reality. A man who had lived underground, building his strength and army to take over the land he felt was "rightfully his." He didn't strike right away, for he wished to win the hearts of the people by acting benevolent. The Grand Councilwoman sent out her trusted friends and advisers to find any remaining citizens with the power. It took years to find the handful that were left and still young, but when the advisers came back to the palace, with the "stars" in hand, the Grand Councilwoman knew that the only way she could save them was to send them to the dimension that she had watched for many years. Similar to theirs, but much less elegant, she knew that she would be able to keep their race alive until it was safe to come back to their own world. With the last of her stored energy, the Grand Councilwoman opened a portal to the world and said goodbye to the last six beings who would ever have powers.

Unbeknownst to the Grand Councilwoman, the evil man also had a plan under his sleeve. He knew that she would send the "stars" across to keep them safe. But he did not want them alive, for they could be a force to reckon with if they ever came back to take him for the thrown. So, he split the power he had been born with into six individuals, leaving himself almost powerless, he vowed to send them to the dimension when they were ready, to "take down" the stars that had been sent. As the six "stars" traveled to our dimension, the world they knew and loved came crumbling down. After the Grand Councilwoman's death, the man took over, killing her advisers and crushing anyone who tried to speak against his rule. His power was resolute, except for the six lights in the dark. The only hope for the people of their world.

It's been ten years since the six "stars" were sent to Earth. They do not know of their powers, or the dimension they came from. And as far as they know, they are normal humans, living normal human lives. They have enrolled in school, lived with families who adopted them, and been happy with just that. Everything seems peaceful, the sun shines down on them and they feel as if they don't have anything to worry about. The Earth is turning like it always has, but not at all as it should. In the "stars" home, He finally felt as though his "hunters" were ready to travel. Malicious and set on their mission, they were ready for the fight. They are assassins of their own kind, with a power darker than they even know embedded in their being.

To make matters worse, Earth was not as empty of magic as the High Priestess had once thought. The same powers that had bestowed the people of Earth's sister dimension also found their way to Earth. Though we had chosen not to use them, and they dwindled much faster, the sense of a threat has embedded four humans with a power that they know nothing about. They too live normal lives that are about to be shaken to their core.

The hunters have reached Earth in much better shape than the "stars" before them had. Memories intact, they begin their hunt. While the earth is far and wide, the powers have concentrated in the highly-populated Urb, a large country that overtook the United States a few years back. With no memories of their powers, no experience and no way of finding out exactly what it is they are supposed to do; how in the world are the to defend themselves?

Back and forth, back and forth. Celeste Charice rocked back and forth on her heels, unable to suppress her bustling energy. She hugged her stuffed monkey closer to her, feeling the homemade explosives secured tightly inside the stuffed animal. Just thinking about setting them brought a wicked grin to her childish face. She didn’t want to wait for the night to come and the stars to appear. She wanted to start a fire show now. But then that would go against what her father had ordered, and she had never disobeyed him. Celeste stood waiting, arms tightening in anticipation, her expression more calm and thoughtful.

She let out a heavy sigh. Why did time have to take forever? Why? Why? Why? Time was pointless anyways; it kept too much order for Celeste’s liking. Just like the building she was in. Oh how she wanted to see this one building burn and crumble to the ground. But she couldn’t. She had to wait for the right tiiiiiiiiiiimeeee. It was always about time. Never about now. She narrowed her eyebrows and set her lips in a thin line. This wasn’t going her way. Relent. Relent. Relent. If she did something ahead of time then one of her allies could get injured, or she could get caught hurting innocent people. Not that she cared about that, but she didn't want to draw attention from pesky humans. They would distract her from searching out the stars. Her frown dissipated and was replaced with a bright smile.

Like it or not, she couldn't burn down this building or do anything that would cause trouble. She would just have to walk around and act like a typical teenager in this world while secretly seeking out the stars. And teenagers here had the same age equivalent as the stars and people Celeste's age in Proovius, the world her father and herself were raised. The clothing wasn't at all the same, so Celeste had to do a bit of research to blend in. Human teenagers typically wore pants, hoodies, shirts, ornaments called jewelry to decorate their bodies, and other things foreign to her. Make-up was one of the strangest things to her. Were humans so unattractive that they had to use face paint to enhance their looks?

Speaking of looks, Celeste's eyes roved around the school campus, just spotting a girl pointing in her direction. She was with a small group of other females, and they started giggling like the silly schoolgirls they were. Celeste cocked and eyebrow, confused. She continued to stare as they started cradling their arms, as if they were holding and looking down at something. She looked at the stuffed monkey in her arms, realizing why she had gotten their attention.

Celeste wasn't that stupid. She knew that mostly little kids had stuffed animals and people her age on Earth didn't go around holding them in public. But this was the only thing she could think of to hold her explosives in without looking suspicious. The adults of high authority at this building had permission to look in bags at any time, and they would surely see her explosives. But no one would check what's inside a stuffed animal, would they? She smirked, noting how clever that was of her. Her eyes went back up to the group of girls, still laughing at her. Wow, weren't humans easily amused? She shrugged, turning away to find something to do before the school day began.

Aster was sitting on a park bench, relaxing with his legs crossed and reading a newspaper. He was looking to see what humans found relevant. With interest, he saw an article regarding pets. Pets? I see... Animals that these humans take care of, or at the very least, seem fond of. He didn't really see how that could be significant to anyone other than the owners, but he kept on reading nonetheless.

As he kept reading, he found an article about current technology. Is that really their latest technological advancement? That is tech that babies would play with... Eventually, he closed the news paper, disappointed that there was nothing that he deemed important. If this is all the humans are interested in, then I don't think we'll have problems. Still, just to be safe we should hold off on any unusual activity. He looked around briefly, taking in what humans would do normally at the park. Then he looked next to him to see Kain quickly looking all over the place, quickly tapping both of his feet.

Aster let out a sigh, not surprised that he is making a small fuss. Geez, he could at least attempt to sit still, but no. He can't even do something as simple as that. He gently shook his head as he finally stood up. "Come on, Kain, if you're that bored I guess we can go look for something to do. I can't stand you when you get super jumpy."

"Oooh, really?" Kain looked at Aster with excitement in his eyes. "We can go do something else now? Something fun?" He immediately stood up with Aster. "Oh, come on, let's go look for something to skin, or maybe we can slaughter something just for the fun of it. Come on, come on, hurry up and let's go, come. Hurry up, dammit!" Kain could barely contain his excitement, though he could never control himself to begin with.

"Alright, alright, just calm down. We can go to the forest and find some animals for you to do whatever you want with." Aster was clearly annoyed with Kain's hyper-active nature, but he was stuck with him so he would have to deal with it for a while. He decided it was best to find some outlet for him so that he could at have some peace to himself.

"Ha ha ha, come on, Aster, hurry the hell up! You walk too slow! Faster! Faster, faster!" Kain didn't really care what other people thought about, all he could care about is getting his satisfaction. And the only way for him to be satisfied is if he can torture anything that lives and breathes. Nothing could ever calm him down, not even for a second. As soon as he finishes torturing something, his boredom sets in again.

Tommy spat into the rag and wiped it across the counter. "Hey." he said to an attractive young customer walking into the Thai restaurant he worked at. The girl smiled and pulled out a few dollars from her back pocket.
"Kai yang, please." she said, placing the bills on the counter. Tommy grinned. "Alright, missy. You look pretty hungry, eh?" The girl laughed and nodded, walking out to a table and sitting down. Tommy glanced back to the kitchen and called for the chef. "Hey, bro, we got an order from kai yang from the little lady out here!" he said, tossing the rag into the drawer beneath. "Sorry, Tommy, ain't got the time!"The chef replied, and Tommy swore under his breath. "Now, don'tchu worry, bro,"the chef continued, "It'll be done in a little." Tommy sighed. The girl was checking her watch expectantly. He definitely didn't want to disappoint her.

Tommy closed his eyes for an instant and let the familiar feeling wash over him. He opened his eyes and smirked, glancing back into the kitchen to check. Yep. Another version of himself was back there, sneaking the chicken onto the small grill and ducking back whenever the chef approached. Tommy continued to watch the clone from his peripheral vision as he grabbed another rag to finish cleaning the counter. He smiled at the girl, and she grinned back at him. Tommy dried off the table, and glanced back to see his clone give him a thumbs up and gesture the kai yang towards him. He beamed and nodded, closing his eyes again. He felt the clone absorb back into him and re-opened his eyes. He walked into the kitchen and nodded to the chef. "Yo, bro, I said chill. It's a restaurant, not a personal diner, yo." Jacob nodded."Yeah, man, just getting the kai yang." he muttered, and laughed at the chef's shocked expression. Tommy carried the plate out to the girl, and nodded to her with a wink. The girl giggled and began to eat. Tommy strode back behind the counter and smiled. His life was awesome.

    'You're normal, you're normal, you're normal.'

This is what Layla Castor says to herself every single day, knowing that she, in fact, is not normal at all. She can Alter Reality to what she wanted it to be. A gift like that, her mother had told her, needed to be protected with all her heart. She was protecting it, but many had almost figured out her secret. Each time, it got worse.

Fifth grade. A ten year old Layla had seen a girl bring a puppy to school. Layla saw that the Puppy didn't like her much, and she knew that the girl didn't want to give it up. With a simple little scrunch of her nose, the Puppy had been whisked out of her arms and in Layla's. The girl couldn't remember anything, and the Teacher screamed at the sight of a dog in her student's arm. After that, the Puppy was taken by Layla's mother and the girl thought she would never see it again. When she got home, her eyes full of tears and snot running down her face, the Puppy greeted her at home. "This is the only time you'll ever get what you alter, got it?" Her mother sighed, reading the Newspaper on the couch.

Layla in the real time sighed. There were many more, but she couldn't think of anything else. As she headed to her Science class, she shrugged. The less she altered reality, the less people would know about it, right? So all she had to do was stop, right then and there. "That's a good Resolution for the middle of the school year." She told herself. "What could go wrong?"

Gasping for breath, Noah sprinted towards the school. Staying up most of last night to finish that project wasn't a really good idea now that he looked at it. But he was almost there. Just one turn on this corner and the school entrance would be right in front of him. Hoping that they hadn't closed the doors yet, he accelerated his pace to get there faster. As he turned the corner, he could see a girl around his age holding a stuffed monkey looking in the direction of the school campus. Well that's odd. Distracted by the strange girl, he didn't pay attention to what was right in front of him and crashed into a girl that was pointing and giggling at said strange girl. Just my luck he thought as he got up from toppling over the girl. "Sorry about that," he said as he stretched out his hand to help her up.

"Just watch where you're going next time," she said angrily as he helped her up.

"Sorry but I was in a such a rush this morning," he said. Seeing that some of her things had fallen as well from the crash, he picked them up from the ground as well and gave them to her. "Thankfully, nothing of yours broke." And of course nothing broke because right as they were falling, Noah used his little secret, the ability to manipulate gravity. While the people around them just saw an ordinary fall. Noah was able to lessen the impact of the fall by lowering the gravity around them so that just a split second before hitting the ground, they would float momentarily and then drop again, therefore making it feel as if they only fell a few inches instead of crashing into the ground.

It kind of reminded him of how he discovered his power in the first place. He had tripped over himself in his own room but instead of hitting the ground, he just floated there. It took him a while to figure out how to turn it off but since then, he has learned how to do other things such as lowering and increasing weight of anything. He would always wonder why he had this weird power but till today he hasn't asked anybody else about it. Who would believe him in the first place? And if he proved it to them, he wasn't sure of what their reaction to it would be. Would he be called a monster? Would people take him away from his family to experiment on him? So for now and for quite possibly forever, it was to be kept a secret. A secret to be used for mundane and silly things such as lowering the weight of his book bag when he had to carry a load of textbooks. Or increasing the weight of a baseball that he pitched so it would break the bat. "Well I better get going," said Noah as he brushed off the dust from his clothes and turned around to run towards the entrance and to his classroom. The teacher's going to kill me if I'm late.

OCC: Thanks for pointing out what I did wrong Spaze xD. I feel like such an idiot for missing that it was before school instead of after school lol

Celeste passed the students who either didn't have class or didn't care about being late until she finally reached her first class. Everyone turned in their desks, eying her as she was the new student. Or possibly staring and wondering why she brought a stuffed animal to school. Celeste faked a smile before shuffling to the back of the room and slipping into a seat, one close to a window. She placed her bag on the ground and settled the monkey bomb on the desk. Just as she got relaxed, the morning bell rang.

Their teacher, whom the dark brunette met earlier but couldn't remember the name of, cleared his throat and began writing on the board. Celeste had no intentions on paying attention and dropped her head on the desk. Her thoughts drowned out the lesson as she imagined the building shaking, and crumbling down to the ground with screams of pain resonating everywhere.

Oh, how she wanted to excuse herself from class and place the monkey somewhere, setting of the bombs. But no, she couldn't. She had to try and seek out some of those darn stars. Unless...she ended up killing the stars during the explosion! But...no,she still wouldn't be certain if she actually ended up killing a star or not. With a sigh, she turned to listen to the man drone on about English sentence structure, something that she could care less about.

Samson sighed as he approached the building, backpack slung over his back. He quickly unzipped the backpack and peered inside, making sure he had everything he needed for the coming school day. With a quick nod, the teen began to slowly walk towards the building, passing others who gave him glares. Suddenly the boy heard a loud, short yelp and turned around. A girl had fallen over and dropped her books by the bus stop. He was tempted to teleport to her so he could help her faster, but there were too many people who could see him. Instead, the boy rushed to the girl's aid.

"No problem," Samson replied to the girl's earlier thank you as he helped her up. "Just watch out for the curb next time, okay?" The girl nodded and he smiled back at her, giving her a nod before he turned away. Samson glanced at his surroundings carefully, seeing that people were staring at him. He could feel their cold gazes on his skin, and he could've swore he heard someone say, "What a loser." With saddened eyes and a slight frown, the boy continued walking back towards the school.

"Why is helping people so bad?" Samson murmured to himself as he walked.
