Pew pew pew. Booooom. Gaaaaaah. Pew pew.

Aspen heard the battle before she saw it. The airship must have landed and released its troops for a raid on the tower. Well, the tower people certainly didn't like that. Aspen wondered if maybe she should just ditch the crazy guy and head home where she wouldn't have to worry about getting shot in the back, but that small bit of curiosity was still tugging at her and forcing her to stick around. She glanced at Ran. He was busy digging through his bag; Aspen wasn't even sure if he noticed the ongoing battle. He pulled out a stick. A stick? No, it was no ordinary stick. It was forked. FORKED. Aspen eyed him suspiciously. Any man that puts forked sticks in his backpack has got to be a little bit lacking up in the brain cell department.

He held it out in front of him, a bit like a blind man would with a cane. Aspen flicked her eyes side to side, clearly a bit confused. Luckily, he explained. Well, sort of.

"This is the Rod of Divining. Bought it for cheap off some old trader who didn't know what it was."

Okay, so it wasn't just a normal stick. But what did it do? Ran spoke a little bit more and then just stood there, holding the stick out in front of him. "Um," Aspen cleared her throat after a few seconds of absolutely nothing. "With a sweet name like the Rod of Divining, I'm assuming it does more than just sit there and make you look foolish?" Her tone wasn't necessarily super sassy, mostly just confused.

"You look but you do not see."

Ummmmm. Alright. So yeah, this guy was probably a little bit off. After that statement, Aspen wondered if maybe he told fortunes to desperate people in his free time. He seemed like the creepy mystical type. She followed his eyes as he watched the ship, but still wasn't really seeing his point. Yeah, maybe you'd find a cool sword or something, but you'd probably have to dig under ten dead bodies to get it first. Aspen didn't really care too much about these so called valuables, but this guy seemed super pumped for the battle so she didn't want to ruin that for him.

The man muttered something again --why did he keep muttering things like that?-- and brought his attention back to Aspen before introducing himself. Ransack? That's an...odd name. She wanted to ask him if it was like the verb ransack, but kind of answered that for herself. With a name like Ransack, I guess it makes sense that you'd want to dig through ten bodies to get one sword.

She glanced down at his hand, up to his eyes, and back down to his hand. Don't make me regret this, she thought to herself before hooking her bow around her back. "Nice to meet you, Ran." The name felt odd to say. "I'm Aspen." She nodded slightly. Despite the fact that she didn't really care about the "rewards" the man talked about, she took his deal anyway. Besides, she kinda wanted to watch the battle. Maybe she was heartless or just plain crazy, but it was nice to distract herself from her own mind. "Sure, I'll help ya gather up some goodies once the dust settles, but don't plan on me digging through any dead bodies."

Staring up at the ship, Aspen let her mind wander. I wonder what it's like to fly in one of those. Mom always told me they were giant metal death traps that were constantly prone to technical issues that resulted in giant craters and epic fireballs. I'm pretty sure she just had a fear of heights. How could anyone be afraid of being up there? Up in the sky, looking down on Earth, I bet everything woukd just feel so small. God, Jasper would love that. She sighed, curling her lips inward slightly and closing her eyes for a moment.

    "Hey."

The breath that Aspen didn't realize she was holding in escaped through her lips quickly as she turned to face the source of the sound. It was a man. He seemed to mutter something to himself and as Aspen opened her mouth to talk, he began again. He didn't look like much of a threat physically and Aspen figured if he was trying to rob her or something he would have done it already, so she let him keep talking. He seemed like a decent guy. A little scattered, but decent. "I was just getting in some target practice. I didn't know there was going to be a battle here." She shrugged. "Heck, maybe I'll get in on it and get some real combat experience." The corner of her lips curled up slightly. "Valuable stuff? Well, I mean, I guess if you consider scrap metal and roasted human flesh valuable then go for it." She decided against hooking her bow around her back, just in case this guy tried to try anything sly. He looked a little bit like the human version of a weasel, or at least maybe a little like a big human rat. Anyway, she was pretty sure she could take him down with one punch if that's what it came to.

"Are you freaking kidding me right now?" Aspen let out an annoyed sigh as let another arrow sped past her makeshift target, two feet to the right. That was her third miss in a row. "Seriously, it's only thirty yards. Most people can hit this with their eyes shut." Yanking a bow from her back, Aspen squinted her eyes and cocked her head slightly sideways. The light breeze russled her golden blonde hair, tucked back up into a ponytail with her bangs out framing her face. Focus. Focus. The cold breeze tickled her neck and arms and Aspen let out a small breath. The wind is blowing right, that's why my arrows are going right. So, aim left. She aimed left. The arrow was smooth as her nimble fingers danced along it, nocking it into correct position. A pause. A breath. Twang. A satisfied smile planted itself on Aspen's face as the arrow lodged into the center of the target she carved on the tree. "It's about damn time." In was in that moment that Aspen noticed the shadow that had filled the sky above her. An airship. Aspen glanced at her surroundings. She was in the clearing of a small forest. There was a large tower about 60 yards from where she was standing, a few scattered openings in the forest between her and the large building. It wasn't too hard to figure out what was going on here. It was that stupid war between the Demi-gods and the Demi-god haters. Aspen had never really cared enough about it to get involved. Why fight a war about power when the power doesn't even effect you directly? Better to watch from a distance. On any other given day, Aspen would have collected her arrows and headed back home, but today she felt curious. She stashed her arrows in her pack and moved into a clearing, watching the ship maneuver through the sky.

    Name: Aspen Kadence Northfield

Title: “It’s Aspen. Just Aspen. And no, you’re not funny by giving me the nickname ‘Ass’, about half the population has already tried that.”

    Faction: Neither...For now...

    Age: 22

    Gender: Female

Description: this and this and this (just kinda combine all three images into one general appearance)

    Personality:
+Sociable, works well with people, strong-willed, strategic, competitive
-Stubborn, sassy, impulsive, mischievous, insecure, at time selfish and manipulative

Sweet with a side of sass, Aspen is a people person. She loves being around others and interacting with them and cracking jokes and making people laugh. She gets along well with most people as long as they can deal with her sarcastic remarks without getting too offended. After all, it’s nothing personal.

While Aspen may seem like she’s got it all figured out, she’s actually somewhat insecure. Sure she’s friends with everyone, but that's just the problem: she's just friends. Aspen doesn’t have a best friend. She doesn’t really have anyone that she is super close too. Most people just know the surface level Aspen, the girl who jokes around and loves to poke fun at others. They don’t know about her past because frankly she doesn’t feel comfortable talking about it. They don’t know about how she has trouble sleeping at night because she feels irrelevant to everyone. Deep down, Aspen is longing for someone to truly want to get to know the real her and make her feel comfortable with herself and all her secrets.

Weapons: Although Aspen is only average height, she makes up for it with strength. The element of surprise aids her fighting skills greatly because she is an incredible short range fighter. She is at her best in melee combat, with a pair of jeweled daggers at her wrists. Also fights well with a bow and arrow, but she definitely prefers hand to hand combat.

Armor: A black cloak thingy idk look at the pictures. It's kind of like a skin tight jumpsuit thing but either way she looks badass in it.

    Abilities:
    Passive:
Strength and Stamina Boost: Aspen is incredibly gifted in athletics. Her physical strength and endurance is much higher than the average person.
Night Vision: Aspen's eyes are enhanced to be able to see perfectly fine in dim light and even total darkness
Fire/Heat Immunity: Cannot be hurt by fire or intense heat

    Active:
Shapeshifting: Aspen has the ability to shapeshift into any animal she can think of in a matter of seconds. The longer she is in the animal form, she slowly becomes weaker.
Fire Creation and Control: With the flick of her wrist, a small ball of fire can appear in her hand. Aspen can use this fire as a weapon by throwing it, blasting it, even creating a sort of fire shield around her.
Another Ability I Can't Think of Right Now Because I'm Tired as Heck

    Strengths:
    -Quick-thinking
    -Melee combat
    -Working and fighting with others,
    -Strategizing
-Using others to her advantage (aka manipulation)

    Weaknesses:
-While using her shapeshifting and fire abilities, Aspen uses up a lot of energy. She won't be able to use these abilities for extended periods of time with no breaks or else she could get severely injured.
-While her close combat skills are intensely toned, Aspen is less trained in the long range. She can shoot her bow pretty far, but her accuracy falters after around 20 yards.

-Fear of open water: Ever since her brother drowned, Aspen is weary of being around large bodies of warer.
-Selfish Nature: When things get bad, Aspen tends to lean towards protecting herself and herself only because she thinks that everyone else is going to do the same.
-Fear of Alcohol: She has seen what it can do it people and gets scared around it
-Self-isolated: Aspen has this weird mindset that no one will ever get close to her and get to know her well and even though she really wants someone to, she acts like she doesn't need anyone.

    History:
Aspen and her twin brother Jasper were born to two very happy parents who lived in a normal magic people town. As the two grew up, they learned basic magic skills and how to control them. The two siblings were inseparable; they were rarely seen without the other right by their side. Although the two had other friends, no others even came close to sharing the bond between the twins. Unfortunately, their world was shattered. The twins were 16 when tragedy struck. Aspen and Jasper were at the lake, helping Jasper improve his water controlling skills. She doesn't remember much about what happened or how it happened, but all Aspen knows is that Jasper went down and never came back up. He had been training himself to hold his breath underwater for extended periods of time and Aspen never really thought much when he stayed under for 10 minutes, and then 20 minutes, and then 30 minutes. The timer was at 53 minutes when she finally got concerned. After an hour and twenty minutes, Aspen dove in and found her brother at the bottom of the lake, dead.

The next few years were kind of a blur. Aspen graduated from her academy with one of the highest academic honors, won the school's co-ed martial arts tournament, even dated a boy that she really liked, but everything just felt wrong. Jasper should have been there. There was nothing left for her in that life without him, it was just empty. So, Aspen left. One backpack, one handwritten note to her parents, one week after graduation, she left.

It's been two years since. Aspen lives in a different town and has new friends to laugh with and spend time with. None of them know about her past, but she prefers to keep it that way. Life is good--well, sorta. That same feeling of living an empty life is creeping back into Aspen's mind, just itching for her to find something that will make her life worthwhile.

Well damn just gimme some chips and salsa and we got ourselves a fiesta up in this here whale. Scarlett was clearly agitated by the unexpected arrival of multiple others, one of whom being Beucette. Oh god, please don't make this turn out to be like some freakish walked up horror porn movie. Luckily, the whale died and they all got out safe and sound.

As Scarlett got back on the ship, she was disgusted by Her appearance. "Please tell me wherever we are going has a shower, because I refuse to remain like this the entire mission." Her eyes squinted in sheer annoyance at this major inconvenience.

Oh. ****. I'm in a mother****ing whale. Things happened hella fast and suddenly Scarlett was thrown into the belly of the beast. It's was... Disappetizing to say the least. Dead fish parts and some nasty substance Scsrlett didn't want to explore floated and sloshed around her as she shifted uncomfortably inside the whale. Those morons better be working to get me out of this stupid thing since it's their fault I'm in here in the first place. Sighing, Scarlett scrunched up her nose in annoyance. Welp, might as well try to kill this thing from the inside even though Cal said it wasn't possible but screw that anyway.

Scarlett used Sliding Dash on the uvula of the whale.

Scarlett turned towards Caliborn, a little confused and a little annoyed by the fact that the other group had managed to go without an S-Class. "I thought you said it would be a while before we were able to go on missions on our own?" It was mostly just inquisitive, yet one could clearly tell that she was annoyed by her body language. Her arms were crossed tightly across her chest and she was leaning back against a mast of the ship. Scarlett's eyes were squinted slightly in annoyance and her head cocked to the side, her eyes glancing from Caliborn to the other group members.

After an extremely long nap, Scarlett was refreshed and ready to take down another mission. Things had gone okay on the last one, but if she wanted to climb her way to the top she would have to stand out a lot more to the S-Class. As her eyes scanned the mission board, multiple choices proved interesting. Her first choice would have been to go on Dale's mission, since he was her only half-sorta-not really friend here. Unfortunately, it looked like Scarlett would be making some new "friends" this mission because his slots where all full. Settling for Caliborn's instead, Scarlett began her way over to where he was standing. A few other figures where already there. The peppy, and extremely annoying, Calxiyn girl was there as well as a female figure Scarlett didn't recognize. Walking straight up beside her, Scarlett spoke towards Caliborn. "When do we get to start going on missions alone?" She asked calmly, curiousity filling her voice. I mean, sure it's nice to have s few people to pick up the slack for a bit, but I work alone. I don't need other people. Although she certainly acted that way towards others, Scarlett was still working on covincing herself of this.

Considering the fact that we don't seem to be doing anything to Wenlock... Oh what the heck. "Sure, go for it." Scarlett flew off into the air looking sexy as hell in her pony bod as Lucia grabbed the wand and bippidy boppidy BOOM Wenlock was down. Aight. That actually worked. Dang. Pegasus Scarlett smiled ever so slightly (like barely even visible) at Lucia. Of course, she wasn't about to go off praising the girl for her genius idea and all but it certainly did them justice. Glancing at the newly transformed Wenlock, Scarlett let out a loud pegasus laugh.

"You've got to be kidding me. I didn't think you could get any uglier, but daaaang was I wrong." This was one of the rare times when Scarlett would actually admit that she was wrong. And also, speaking of transformations.... "We all know I could totally rock this whole Pegasus thing, but it's going to be hard to fit into all my old clothes with this huge form." The girl looked her Pegasus self over one more time, knowing that this was pretty much a one time deal. Besides, it would be way too easy to kick everyone's ass in Pegasus form.

Suddenly, Brietta wasn't a pegasus anymore. That was good. And also Ren was starting to sound a little bit like he was on some drugs so nothing new really. Things were going okay. At least they were, until that ugly ass Wenlock guy decided to show his face again and knock them out of the sky. Well, it's a good thing they got this fancy little wand over here. Scarlett stood with her arms crossed in front of her chest, just waiting for the smug look on Wenlock's face to be wiped off by that wand that they had spent so much time creating. And then nothing happened. Annika tried again. Nothing. Umm wait isn't this the part where the wand is supposed to solve all our problems? Apparently not, because Wenlock was bouta turn all of them to stone. Scarlett yanked out her bow and had an arrow nocked within seconds when Annika fell to her knees. "Annika, no!" What was she doing? That was a big mistake. It only took a second for Scarlett to align her bow up to Wenlock's face and she was about to let the arrow fly when he did something completely unexpected. The extremely ugly man pushed past Annika and started towards Scarlett.

"What?" Scarlett's grip on the bow relaxed slightly as her face scrunched up in confusion, her arms lowering so that she could see Wenlock's face clearly. He wasn't joking. What the hell was wrong with this guy? He must really have issues getting girls if he is suddenly interested in me. And then Thomas started speaking. To be honest, Scarlett was expecting him to completely sell her out and hand her over to him. Thankfully, he didn't. When he spoke, Scarlett cracked a small half smile as he pretty much described her on point. She quickly wiped away the emotion though and replaced it with sass when she turned back to Wenlock. "You must be a hell of a lot more stupid than I thought you were if you think that there is even a chance that I'd go anywhere with someone as ugly as you." Her bow was still in position to fire and Scarlett decided that if he took more than two steps closer to her or tried to touch her in any way, she'd let the arrow fly. Your move, Wenlock.

Scarlett was getting annoyed with this Aidan guy again. Here they were, doing just fine and dandy, until suddenly that moron was prepared to risk everyone's lives over a stupid fight with his parents. Nuh uh. Not okay. "Look, we didn't come all this way just so you can go all saint-like and try to make up with your parents. Get over yourself. You made a stupid mistake now you have to live with it. Welcome to the real world. Now put that jewel back before you get all of us killed for no good reason." She took a threatening step toward him. Well, actually it looked like she was intentionally stepping toward him to try and intimidate him. Scarlett actually just took a step in that direction because it was closer to the exit of the cave. She didn't think Aidan would listen to her so she wanted to be able to make a quick getaway in case of an emergency.

Scarlett took a step back as the snowman's blow momentarily stunned her. Her head was pounding against her skull and she get like it was gonna explode. Cmon Scar, just a few more hits. At that moment, she caught movement in the corner of her eye that made her hesitate for just a moment. Thomas was down. She glanced out of the side of her eye at him, and then back at the monster and the cave. The cave wasn't going to last a whole lot longer if they didn't kill this thing. Besides, Scarlett didn't even have the best healing stats here. Some else would do it. She turned away from Thomas and launched another attack.
