Maya smiled uncomfortably. "I'm Maya...Maya Miter." she looked up at the swirly orange sky. "I'm not really sure where we are..." she turned her head toward the group. "But the energy crest should be close-by. After all, the coordinates on the teleporter were set to follow high-energy frequencies." She looked over to the dome in the distance. "Oh! Before I forget..." reaching into her pocket, she pulled out a metallic object resembling a fancy-looking pen. She raised it into the air and hit the trigger on the tip. A high-pitched, ear-splitting sound emanated from the object. "Ow..." Maya rubbed the side of her head. "We were lucky that the four of us speak a common language, but we don't know about this place. That sound changed the frequency of your vocal pattern, to put it simply. I think most of you wouldn't understand the technical aspects..." she smiled at Holden, "I'll explain it later if you want." She took a glance at the smoke in the distance. "Anyway, it looks like we have two choices...which way should we go first? Should we investigate the village, or should we check out that smoke over there? Both options leave me a little uneasy, honestly..."

Maya jumped at the girl's verbal assault, warranted as it was. She adjusted her glasses, hoping that she looked cool, but then decided that this was not the time to keep up appearances. She let out a heavy sigh, giving the group an apologetic look. "Listen, I'm sorry, OK? Dr. Soach does some crazy things sometimes, and I'm just an intern! If I don't go along with what she says, I can't graduate!" Maya looked at the remote that Dr. Soach had thrust into her hand. "But that's still no reason to get strangers involved, so I'll try to get you back without her noticing." She displayed the odd looking device to the group, "We can use this."

Dr. Soach smirked at the young man's remark. "You see, Maya? You have nothing to worry about." She then turned to address the rest of them. "Now, I just need you all to assist my intern here. Just go out, have fun, and bring back the energy crest when you're done sight-seeing." She then handed what looked like a television remote to Maya. "Use this once you've found it, and you'll come back here."

As she made her way back to the teleport machine, Maya jumped. "Wait! I still think this is a bad idea!"

"But Maya," Soach said condescendingly, "I thought you wanted your college credit?"

This shut Maya up very quickly.

"Next stop: Krytchtal! Have fun, you crazy kids!"

Dr. Soach turned the crank on the teleporter four times, and with a powerful strobe light, and static all around, the three strangers, as well as Maya, were gone.

As the four strangers come to, they find themselves in a world unlike anything they had ever seen. Beneath them was neither stone nor earth, but black sand that seemed to stretch on for miles. Above them, was indeed the sky, but not the one they knew. It was a swirling symphony of different shades of orange, the lights and darks swirling endlessly into each other. In the distance is what looks like a giant glass dome, towering over a small, normal-enough looking village. However, to the south one could see black smoke rising above the horizon.

Dr. Soach chuckled at the strangers. "Why, you're in my lab, you silly goose!" she shook her head, "honestly, what a silly thing to ask."

Maya pushed her glasses up, hoping that the light would glint off of them. "Doctor, is this really the wisest decision? These people don't know the first thing about inter-dimensional travel."

Soach let out a laugh. "Says the one who was just crying about about going alone!"

Maya turned bright red. "I wasn't crying! I was just mildly concerned!"

"Well, it's better this way, anyway!" Soach boasted, "The more the merrier, right?"

Maya sighed, giving the three strangers a look that screamed 'I'm so sorry'.

    Character Sign-Ups are still open!

In a secret laboratory hidden beneath the earth and also in a parallel dimension, exists the mysterious and eccentric scientist, Dr. Soach, along with her unpayed intern, Maya. The two of them spend their days inventing gadgets and devices for the betterment of humanity, probably. One day, Dr. Soach created a design for a machine so powerful and so amazing, that she herself had no idea what it would do. Naturally, such an astounding and mysterious device would need an equally astounding and mysterious power source, and so she decided to send her intern on a journey to collect the Energy Crests. The Energy Crest is, in fact, a single scroll that exists simultaneously within five different dimensions. When brought together, these scrolls could create an infinite energy source, supposedly. Of course, such a task is far too great for a single intern, and so Dr. Soach summoned (abducted) some helping hands from the neighboring dimensions in order to aid her in her goal.

"As I suspected...the power source is unsuitable to the needs of my device." Dr. Soach, a rather tall woman with an overly thin frame frowned at the heap of gears and wires before her. "No, this won't do at all!" She crossed her arms and sighed.
"Maya!" she yelled across the room, "Get over here!"

"...yes, Dr. Soach...?" Maya, a college-age girl approached the doctor doubtfully.

Dr. Soach smiled broadly at her intern and began to speak. "Take a look, Maya. What do you see?"

Maya adjusted her round glasses and squinted at the mass of metal before her. "Well, it's...certainly something" she leaned closer, scrutinizing the 'device'. "Um...some sort of cleaning robot? A battery?"

"Don't be silly, Maya! This is my greatest invention yet!" Dr. Soach chuckled at her apparently obvious success.

"Oh, of course!" Maya said, not nearly as full of excitement as her employer. "So...what does it do?"

“What does it do?” the doctor laughed, “Now isn't that a question!”

“And that's not really an answer...” Maya sighed.

“Now listen, my woefully inexperienced disciple. You may be a little too young to understand this, but sometimes, as inventors we created things that are so genius, that even we, the creators, cannot fully understand them!” Dr. Soach nodded approvingly at her own sentiment.

Maya sighed again, “So what you're saying is...you have no clue what it is either?”

“Not a one!” Soach grinned exuberantly, “So, the only way to find out, is to turn it on, right?”

“Makes sense to me.” Maya agreed.

“Ah, but they're one problem!” Soach pointed her index finger directly in Maya's face, as if to make more obvious the fact that there was a problem.

Maya slumped her shoulders as she sighed once more, her voice turning monotone as she muttered her thoughts out loud. “Of course there's a problem. There's always a problem. What's the problem?”

Dr. Soach shrugged at her intern, “We're out of power, and the regular energy stones won't do any good here. You see, a mysterious machine like this needs an equally mysterious battery.”

“So...?” Maya could see where this was leading, and she didn't like it.

“So, I'm gonna send you through the teleporter to collect the energy crests! Have fun!” Dr. Soach ran up to an odd looking machine that looked almost like an oversized jack-in-the-box. As soon as she put her hand on the crank, Maya objected.

“Wait!” Maya panicked, “You can't just send me to some weird world that I know nothing about!”

Dr. Soach had a look of utter disappointment on her face. “Why not? I've done it before...”

Maya shuddered as she recalled that horrible time that she swore not to speak of to anyone. “But at least we knew what we were getting into! We have no idea what those other worlds are about!”

“Oh...okay...” The doctor sighed, “I'll just get you some back-up, in that case.

Before Maya could question what she meant by 'back-up', Dr. Soach was already turning the crank on her teleporter. For every turn, the laboratory filled with light and static, until there were three people standing in the room with them.

Dr. Soach made a grand gesture towards the three strangers. “There you go! Back-up!”

Maya could not help but stand stunned at the display of inter-dimensional kidnapping she had just witnessed.
