It's technically not the right term to use, but I'll usually use it if I'm talking to people who don't listen to the genre and don't know the right terminology. The two biggest genre's in "screamo" that I usually refer to are either post-hardcore or metalcore. If I'm referring to the vocals, I'll usually just say the song has screamed vocals or something along the lines of that.

Just to make sure since my song wasn't updated on the front page, but did you get my part? I used a cover song of Lights (originally be Ellie Gouldiing) by Joel Faviere.
If there's a part in the song that really emphasises on the drum beat, I personally like to use either a glow or levels effect to make the clip brighter on the beat and have it fade back to normal as it reaches the next beat. If you're not sure what I mean, I can find an example for you. I'll try to think of some other stuff for ya too :D
