can we go back to comics costing like $1.
i got the entire second mister miracle volume today. 28 issues, 28 dollars. more story per issue than anything you'll find on the shelves this week and 1/4 the price. and this was only back in 89-91.

Rotten Tomatoes is that thing that people hold up as a justification for why their opinion is right, but then ignore or denounce when something they like is rated poorly.

    > f4 9%
    > arrow season 3 100%

critics are just critics. they're not the authority on quality. not Rotten Tomatoes. Not Roger Ebert.

The problem with this movie is not the premises, it's everything that came after. Source material means nothing if your movie can hold up on it's own. At some point in pre-production this was supposed to be a hard sci-fi story that featured all-new takes on the f4, but thanks to the internet and the short-sighted fans unwilling or unable to look beyond costumes and surface level character-traits who make up the vocal majority, any chance we had at a good, solid story was ripped away. This movie should have been the classic science-fiction epic of our time. Instead it's just a joke. Thanks, fans.

It's okay to like things that are bad. I like things that are, if not divisive, generally considered less-than-good, but I see why people don't like them and admit to their problems (unless I disagree and explain why). Having the ability to step back and look at something critically and as objectively as you can is what gives entertainment substance. Without that it's just things happening. Analyzing does not mean picking something apart to death. You look at the bad and the good. You think about why you like something. If you like something and can do this, you have the responsibility to point out the flaws to the best of your ability in the same way you articulate the reasons you think something is good. Thinking critically is not about nitpicking and taking all of the fun out of the experience, it's about expanding your comprehension and obtaining a deeper, more intellectual appreciation for the art of whatever you're observing.

per my own enjoyment, gd listens best when you commit to an entire album in one sitting. not saying you should if you don't care but that's my take

that list contains a song from each album.
not necessarily my favorite and not necessarily the best, but the most standout from all 11 + rarities compilation. listen to some all or none your choice

so today i retired the password that i've been using since 2008 because it's had to adapt to all these different websites for work, school, and others and such and it's just become too hard to remember all of the variations I've had to made to adapt to different requirements. the new one is pretty sweet ngl and I made it so it satisfies the most strict password requirements I've encountered. so here I am going through all the websites I frequent, email, school, and all that other stuff, and I get to myanimelist and this masterclass password, 8 characters long, capitals, numbers, symbols, isn't good enough for myanimelist. are you kidding me. you're literally a website that i use to log the chinese cartoons I watch. and my password is too weak for it.

that's not the impression i've gotten from your posts about them but okay

maybe you don't understand because you haven't explored their music. listen to Nimrod. listen to Insomniac. listen to Warning. listen to Kerplunk. listen to American Idiot (multiple times because goddamn its so dense). I wouldn't expect someone to understand why the band is beloved by it's fans when Boulevard of Broken Dreams is your go-to song for them. Not a bad song at all, but not indicative of what they have to offer either.

jesus of suburbia - stand-in for the entire album because it's something to be experienced as a whole

Fair enough. I don't understand your vehement distaste for them. I can understand just not caring about them, but every time I bring them up you echo my unapologetic fanaticism with venomous disdain. This makes sense to me when it comes from someone born and bred in the politically-fueled anti-establishment movement of 70's uk punk (at leas this makes sense before American Idiot), but you don't have that. I don't care if you like them or not, I just find it a little perplexing how adamantly anti-Green Day you are. and like I said, fair enough, I just don't understand why. For anyone unfamiliar with their music I would suggest starting with their later stuff, 2000 and later, and slowly working your way back to their early stuff. Their later stuff is more accessible until you get to the Trilogy but not at all a complete departure from their early work.

and i love ya for it

the genius of American Idiot lies in Jesus of Suburbia being a summation of everything that character is, Homecoming being everything that remains after he's been torn down, and the in between being how he got from the american teenager utterly convicted in his naivete to the humbled blank slate of broken optimism, a little calmer and a little wiser. both songs approx 10 minutes long each lock the story of the album between with the two songs on either sides of Jesus and Homecoming, American Idiot and Whatsername respectively, putting us directly into the mind of this character showing us what tempers him before and after his adventure. in standard middle-act fashion, jesus is at his lowest in Give Me Novocaine, which has four songs between it and both Jesus of Suburbia and Homecoming. In Novocaine, jesus is addressing someone who remains unknown until the end of the song, st. jimmy. the song directly before Novocaine is St Jimmy, in which the coping mechanism in the form of a drug-supplying alternate persona's explosive introduction is made with a vigorous energy rivaled by only one other song on the album, She's a Rebel, the song directly after Novocaine. She's a Rebel introduces whatsername, jesus's temporary companion and only other form of reprieve from his horrible situation in addition to st jimmy. the two songs following She's a Rebel briefly explore their brief companionship arriving at the conclusion that these two are totally incompatible despite similar situations, which mirror Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Are We the Waiting, the two songs before St. Jimmy which show how incompatible Jesus is with the life he's chosen. the songs on either side of these two pairs of songs, placing them right after and right before Jesus of Suburbia and Homecoming, are the two most tonally polarized songs on the album. The enthusiastic excitement of making the bold decision to leave home in search of nothing in Holiday, and the somber acceptance of personal failures in Wake Me Up When September Ends (strangely the two songs I like least on the album). ****ing. genius. I could go on and on about this album and all of this is just about the structure of it. in the words of a wise man, "...because I love [Idiot] so much I **** it."

    i think you mean
