Ren backed away from the thing that had come up from behind the tablet. He didn't think this was a child, even if it did laugh like one. "You're not a kid, right?" he double checked. The only response he got was more laughter. "Alright, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're not one of the kids I'm looking for, ok." He raised his staff dramatically above his head, and brought it crashing down onto the ground, not for any practical reason, but because if anyone was watching it would look pretty cool.

    Ren used Aero.

Mizuki entered the meeting room, her head raised slightly higher than usual and her shoulders back, trying to put on an air of authority. She would have preferred to have entered the room first, as befitted someone who was in charge, or was pretending to be, but it seemed Mikasa had forgotten that minor detail. Old habits die hard, Mizuki though to herself.
They were in the room barely five seconds when Thomas and Gaius were already making a show. Great. Well obviously this couldn't go on, and since Mizuki was posing as Mikasa in this situation it would have to be her that was seen dealing out discipline. Hopefully the two stooges would catch on to that fact.

"Get the **** off the table, NOW," she ordered them, her hands on her hips and her voice full of authority. The other people in the room had to believe that she was really Mikasa. "You have two seconds to get your **** together. Move."
She turned to the other guilds in the room to address them. "My apologies for these two. New guys, you know?" There was a murmur of understanding around the table from the other guilds members, and even a few chuckles. They understood the situation, they themselves had had to deal with overzealous newbies in their time.
"My name is Mikasa," Mizuki announced, "and these five, for better or worse, are my comrades." She pointed to each member as she introduced them. "Ra, Charlotte, Veilen, Mizuki. Thomas and Gaius you have already met. We are to represent Sapphire Eclipse."

"Right, ok! I'll go check out around the church," Ren announced to the others. "I'll scream like a four year old if I see anything, ok?" he grinned, setting off towards the church. The kids couldn't have gone that far. Their legs were too short, right? That, and Ren had a theory that young children instinctively gravitated to the areas where they could wreck the most things. The only available place for that around here was the church, so he figured that would be the best place to look.
"Hey, kids!" he called out to the children who were inevitably hiding around somewhere nearby. "Come out, kids! Lets play a game! I've got caaaandyyyyy!" He stopped, realising that he was probably sounding more than a little creepy. Besides, the kids probably wouldn't come out for him anyway.
Ren sighed, looking around for areas where a young child could hide. Well, that wasn't hard, they were so small they could hide practically anywhere. Perhaps even behind that tablet thing. Ren reached out with his staff, tapping the tablet to alert anyone if they were behind it.
    "Hey, you there kid?"

Ren checks behind tablet number 1.

Mizuki nodded at Mikasa. "I will do as you ask," she told her. So she was to pose as Mikasa, and apparently at the request of Evanora. Interesting. Although if anyone were to stand in for Mikasa, Mizuki was probably the best bet. They both kept their emotions in check, they had the same pride, had the same demeanor, and they both - Mizuki suddenly cut off that train of thought. No. They weren't the same. Mizuki was here to kill one of the guild members, someone who Mikasa would have to defend. Mizuki wasn't like her, and she would have to remember that. Even when surrounded by guild members, she was truly alone here.
Then again, even back in Falcon's Claw, she'd always been alone.

"So they just act like loners for a little bit," Ren muttered. That didn't seem too dangerous. "Is that all that happens? There's nothing else you're not telling us? Because if that's all, I don't see why you would have wizards running scared." Actually, that was a good point he'd made. "What exactly is scaring away the people you try to employ, Pastor?"

Ren raised an eyebrow at Johanna in disapproval. "You not telling us things like this is not good for the mission, or for your relationship with the new guild members. How are we supposed to trust you if we're always second-guessing whether you've told us everything? Besides, even if any of us didn't want to help with the mission now that we know more, there's nothing to stop us from leaving right now."
Ren sighed, and rubbed his eyes in exasperation. "Look, sorry if I'm coming across as lecturing you, but I just can't not say anything. Anyway, let's move on," he continued, resolved to forgive Johanna for the slip up and also move the conversation on to something more constructive. "This business about the spirit, this is serious. Can you tell us anything more specific?" he asked the Pastor. "What do the children do while being possessed, does anything in particular happen before and after this, and is there any specific time that this happens?" Any information the Pastor could offer would only help them solve this problem. Also, the fact that the children were being put through this put a bad taste in Ren's mouth. He didn't like it when kids got caught up in something strange or dangerous. They deserved a little more innocence in their lives.

These children, it was interesting to see them so happy. Interesting, but Ren's face showed traces of the turmoil in his mind. They were orphans, but here they were, so joyful and carefree. A far cry from his own experience. He too had been an orphan, but this... he hadn't experienced something like this himself as a child. Things had turned out differently for him. He consciously moved on from this train of thought, anxious not to become too pensive. Right now he had to focus.
Yes, these kids looked like they would have a good life. Johanna herself had once been one of them, and she had ended up happy enough from the looks of things. The Pastor, he was a good man. From what Ren could tell, the man was doing this out of the goodness of his heart, rather than for his own gain. It was rare to find such generosity, especially to abandoned street urchins.
Ren made his way over to the Pastor, intending to learn a little more about the man. To learn more about what their mission was, foremost, but also to gauge the mans character. Ren was sure he was a good, generous man, but he couldn't quite bring himself to fully trust the man at face value. His own experience had had too much of an impact on him.

"Hello," Ren greeted the Pastor, extending his hand to shake. "My name is Ren, I'm here with Johanna and the others. I was wondering if you could tell me a little bit about what we're doing here. Johanna didn't really say much about it."

Mizuki examined the jobs board, looking over what the missions were and who was leading him. Preferably she would be able to go on the same one her target was going on, an opportunity to kill him might present itself, but she was also aware that killing him right off the bat might draw unwanted attention to herself. She had to be careful here, and choose her moment to strike with discretion. Until such a time as she could complete her mission, she would have to mix in with the other guild members, become one of them. Mizuki didn't really know how to do that.
She also didn't know what mission to go on. None of them particularly stood out to her; if she could have avoided going on them altogether she would have, but that was obviously out of the question. She noticed that Mikasa, her roommate, was leading one of the missions. As good a reason to choose that job as any. She at least knew Mikasa's name, and the woman had seemed pretty competent. Someone to watch out for, when things reached a climax, Mizuki noted to herself.

Mizuki found Mikasa at the bar, apparently waiting for whoever was going on this mission with her. One other had already arrived, the young man Mizuki had spotted last night sprinting through the halls. She ignored him, and presented herself to Mikasa.

"Mizuki. For the Labyrinth," she stated. No more needed to be said, in her opinion. Her meaning would be clear to anyone reasonably intelligent.

Ren splashed his face with water, trying to wash the drowsiness from his eyes. He hadn't slept well last night. In fact, he hadn't really slept at all. He usually didn't. He looked in the mirror to see if the water had improved anything. Not really, if he was honest. He tried a smile, and then a grin. Much better. Nobody would know anything was up if he kept a smile on. They never did.
Breakfast was a quick meal of a freshly baked roll with a smothering of butter on it. Perhaps not quite enough to keep him going till lunch, but he wasn't feeling up to something more substantial. He would cope.
His mission today was with Johanna. A friendly woman, as he had seen last night, but she also had an edge to her if her actions against Dale the same night were anything to go by. But, Ren wasn't going to go out of his way to annoy her, so he was sure they'd get along just fine.

"Hello, Johanna," he greeted her with a smile as he approached her. "You look like you're cold," he mentioned, referring to her clothes. "Not that I blame you, there's a bit of a breeze blowing through here. Must be the high ceilings. But enough small talk," he continued, moving on. "I'm here to join that mission you're leading, if you'll have me. Something about the Cathedral, right?"

Mizuki hadn't mingled with the other new guild members during the feast. Or anyone, for that matter. She wouldn't have talked to anyone anyway. She wasn't here to talk. Instead she had wandered around the halls, occasionally popping her head into the grand hall to see what was happening.
Her target had been easy to spot as well. An Oriental, just like her. And she remembered his face from all those years ago. It was curious to see him so cheerful and carefree. Did he really feel like that inside, or was it all a show? It was hard to tell. After all these years, perhaps he had grown complacent, thinking that the guild couldn't reach him here. If that was the case, he would soon die for his mistake.
However Mizuki knew this wouldn't be a piece of cake. The target had been one of the best, and had disposed of quite a few Falcon's Claw assassins on his run. But he knew too much, and had damaged the guilds reputation. He was to die by the blade. Her masters had decided that.

Mizuki walked down the hall to the girls dorm. Number four. She spotted a young man, one of the other guild members, pass down one of the corridors with a look of terror on his face, and loud voices echoed against the walls further on. Something seemed to have happened. That young man, he had come from the direction of the girls dorms. A peeping tom?
"Desperate," Mizuki said quietly, with little to no emotion in her voice. She was simply stating what she thought was the case, rather than trying to insult the man. She then saw another man, this one masked, limping along after the other. Had the two been in a fight? Interesting.
Turning the corner, she found herself a few feet away from the door to her dorm. A little further down the hall there was the man who had been yelling, and a red headed girl with a bow. She ignored them, and opened the door to her dorm room. They weren't anything to do with her.
Mizuki closed the door behind her and turned to face her roommates.
"Sorry I'm late," she stated quietly, waiting for them to react. Mizuki didn't have much experience introducing herself to new people.

She was trained from a young age to kill, and never had any close relationships with anyone, as she was treated more as a weapon for the guild than a person.

Mizuki was ten years old during the turmoil within the guild when Ren left it, and her parents were some of the first sent out to hunt him. They never returned, not that their daughter cared, but the guild conditioned her to hate Ren it.

It is now, after over ten years of training and just over a year of searching for her target, that she has infiltrated the guild known as Sapphire Eclipse to hunt down her target.

No sooner had he flopped down onto the bed that Edric had woken up and said hello to him. Without a moments pause laying back Ren had bolted back upright and stood up to greet Edric. "Hello, Edric," he smiled. "My name is Ren, it's nice to meet you. And yes, I think all of us will have to adjust to living with al these new people. But I guess that's part of the experience," he added.
Standing there watching Edric pick up rubbish was a little awkward, so Ren bent down to pick up some of it as well.
"Here, I'll help you," he offered. "Just tell me where you want this stuff." Gathering up a pair of trousers and a scrap of paper, his attention was caught by Ra shifting in his bed. Ren hadn't actually noticed Ra was even in the room because I must have missed that post or something deeerrrrp. "Ah, hello there. You're Ra, right? Good fight out there, good fight. Would have jumped in myself, but heh, then I would have been able to bet like I did. Uh, also," Ren continued, changing the subject, "do we not have another roommate? That flirty guy... must've got lost or something. He'll be along soon though, I'm sure." Ren couldn't think what could possibly happen in the guild that would be detrimental to Thomas' health, so he didn't worry about it much and just continued clearing things up from the floor. The guild was a safe place. Probably.

"Blonde hair girl wearing red..." Ren scratched his head, at first unsure of who this guy was talking about. "I have a vague recollection of her," he mused. "Quiet type, sticks to herself. That's my impression anyway." He looked down at the locket again and pocketed it. "I'll give it back to her next time I see her," he told Ander. "And if you see her yourself, tell her I've got it, ok?" Ren began to walk off, heading towards his dorm. "See you later!"

Dorm number one was where he was staying, and with Edric to boot. He seemed like on of the more laid back S-class members, and pretty friendly. But maybe that was because he had been drinking. As for Ra and Thomas, they were a little brash, as evidenced by them taking part in the fight, but they were probably decent enough fellows. He would know soon enough.
Ren reached the door to his dorm, and he pushed it open carefully; only to reveal the mess inside. Ren pursed his lips and took a few firm steps inside before giving the room a closer examination. Random junk was strewn across the floor and covered what he assumed was two bunk beds. Amongst the debris slept the current resident, Edric.
The bottles were what really caught Ren's attention.
"So alcohol is your prop," he muttered to himself. At one time, Ren had also contemplated drowning his cares in drink, but... perhaps he didn't deserve to not have any worries. Perhaps.
It could be though that Ren was over thinking it. Edric might just like his drink. It was common enough.
He plopped down where he could on one of the beds, and closed his eyes. Not to sleep, but just to let his mind wander. Perhaps before his other two dorm mates came in he could have a little peace. That would be nice.

"Oh! You should give it to the others I fought! Think of it as a sort of, uh, compensation prize I guess"

Ren nodded in agreement. "Yeah, no skin off my back. Very generous of you," he smiled. He was distracted by Ander coming out of nowhere and giving a simple "Hello."
"Uh, hi," Ren responded. "Nice to meet you. Or something." He turned back to where Gaius had been: He was nowhere to be seen. "Fast mover," Ren muttered.
Something glittering on the ground caught his eye. It was a locket, seemingly quite common in this guild, and it had conveniently planted there for the purposes of plot by another character in an earlier post. Uh, what? Nvm.
He picked it up and showed it to Ander, who was still just, like, standing there.
"This yours?" he asked. "It was just lying on the ground here. And you seem to like wearing things around your neck, so yeah."

Well, it seemed this corner of the room was where all the real action was. With Scarlett and Skadi bitching on his left, and murder threatened by Levi and Dale on his right, Ren didn't feel all that safe in his seat. Perhaps it was time to move on.

Luckily, an excuse to move had presented itself. The fight was over, and Gaius, the underdog who had been the least favorite to win, was triumphant. Ren took a look at the betting book... "Oh my goodness!!! GAIUS YOU BIG LUG, GET O'ER HERE!!!" Ren leaped up onto the table and clambered over it, sending the food and drink that hadn't already been decimated by the fight flying through the air, to get to his new favorite person in the guild. "I knew you would win!" he proclaimed, his face beaming. "And don't think I'll be stingy with the money! I think you deserve some of my hard earned cash," Ren grinned.
"Also," he added, tugging at Gaius' shirt and examining the hole in it, "buy yourself a new shirt. You could get killed with a hole that big in your only defense. Seriously."

Ren didn't notice Scarlett's hand brush against his arm, but her comment and determination certainly caught his attention. "You have good spirit," he smiled at her, "and while I tend to agree with what you say, I can't help but feel that perhaps these people have more to offer than meets the eye. They may be brash and a little big headed, but sometimes it's those kind of people who will never back down. Especially if it's for their guild," he added.
While he hadn't had much of an impression of his new guild members, Ren was actually sure that everyone around the table, from the loudest of the contestants on the table to the quieter ones lurking in the corners, could give more than enough, and then some, to their new guild. He had confidence that the S-class members and the Master had only accepted people who were worthy, and he felt that was enough to trust his new comrades.
As for him, well, by his own logic he too was worthy. Maybe things were looking up for him. They don't know about the real me though, he thought bitterly.
"Looks like I bet on the right people," he stated, pointing at the fight on the table. "Although, I did bet on most of the contestants, so I guess that doesn't say much about my judgement," he chuckled.
"So, Scarlett, if you don't mind the familiarity" he smiled, sitting back in his chair, "what would you say about me? Do I fit your definition of brave and courageous?" Ren chuckled, and waved a hand. "Don't mind me. I'm a bit of a tease at times," he grinned.

A woman that could read the future... Very interesting. "I might talk to her sometime about that," Ren commented. "Tell me, can she read the past as well?" he asked Johanna.
His face was now serious. If this Cassandra person could tell who he used to be, then his time in this guild might not be very long. He'd have to keep his distance from her in that case.
Ren suddenly realized he'd dampened the mood, and put on a grin. "Just out of curiosity, of course. It's not every day you meet someone who can see into the future. And bets, of course, it would be pretty much cheating to have a power like that."
His fingers fiddled anxiously under the table, rubbing against each other. Even if Johanna replied with a negative to his question, that still didn't seal the matter. She might simply not know the full extent of Cassandra's power, which was quite likely considering how secretive she was about it. Keep an eye out, whatever you do, Ren.

Ren grinned, nodding his head a little sheepishly. "You are quite perceptive, I'll admit I have never been called shy. Probably something to do with my forthright manner."
He glanced over at the fight on the table, quickly taking in what was going on. The two red haired guys seemed to have taken a quick break to heal themselves, and the girl, conforming to the impression Ren had already formed of her, was still in full attack. As for who would win, well... it was anyone's guess, really.
He waved a hand at the combatants to Johanna. "Is it just these new guys, or do fight usually break out in here?" Ren asked, turning back to Johanna. "I imagine it does, seeing as no one has come over to stop this yet," he chuckled.

Levi still hadn't responded. The poor guy was probably either in shock, or seriously debating whether or not to reciprocate Ren's advances. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed the amusement in Scarlett''s eyes. She'd caught on, no surprise. His attention focused on another woman as she poured drinks for them and said hello.
"Hello, miss," he grinned, "thanks for the welcome. I'm quite enjoying myself so far; the fight is good, and the food is better!" He held out a hand to shake with an easy smile. "My name is Ren. And you are?"

Ren grinned at Levi's attempts at hitting on Scarlett. This guy was as bad as that other one, Thomas, with the ladies. Ren decided to introduce himself to the two, and perhaps even have a little fun while at it.
He made his way over and took a seat between them. "Hey guys, I'm Ren," he smiled in greeting. "You mind if I sit here? There's a better view of the fight from here. That, and I couldn't help noticing you two are getting along so well," he chuckled. "Speaking of which," Ren turn in his sit towards Levi, "I don't know about her, but I think you're a fine man." He attempted to bat his eyelashes, before turning away to suppress his laughter. After a moment he'd composed himself, and he gave Scarlett a playful wink.
"So, what's your name?" Ren asked, talking to Levi once again. He smiled as he took a sip of a random drink on the table, waiting to see how this guy would response to his advances. Ren had a feeling that this man might not realize that he was playing with him. That could only have hilarious results.
