Henrik sighed at Alistair's comment. He wondered how it was possible for someone who acted like a child to be any kind of doctor. Barely anyone in the group seemed to act their age. "I don't need to show off." Henrik muttered lowly. At least Cassandra seemed to have the right attitude in reacting towards Alistair. If things had been better Henrik would have laughed. "I'd say your sense of humor is at least amusing. Unlike this, jävel." Henrik spoke towards Cassandra, directing the last bit to Alistair. The wounded one seemed to have a temper. Xathanael was hardly a name that was likely to be given at birth but since she didn't toss out a human name Henrik decided to just call her by what she introduced herself as. "Temeluchas has my wife, Xathanael. What would someone like that want with Nephilim?" He didn't care what kind of attitude she had, he would have his answers. 'It figures Xathanael would be hanging onto Nakah. That little suck-up.' Lei spoke up after having been quiet for so long. Henrik could only assume that "Nakah" was the name of his sword. A blade hardly seemed practical to him. Even if it was in some way mystical, using a blade did not seem to be a better option than using his powers. There was a reason why swords were replaced centuries ago on the battlefield. Henrik's eyes shifted over towards Alistair. It made no sense to keep him around if Alistair had already proven himself to be with Temeluchas. Xathanael seemed to have barely met the man just as she had barely met Henrik so it was safe to assume that the blame rested on Sam. "Why is Alistair still with us? He's not on our side." This time he spoke to Sam in English. "It would take me half a second to put a bullet in his head." 'A very large bullet.' Lei chimed in.
Lei had been silent since the morning started and Henrik was unsure of whether to take this as something good or not. Regardless, he was glad to at least have his mind to himself no matter how powerful his anxiety over Iris may have been. He had to focus on doing something rather than just sitting around. It took him awhile to get around to it but he decided to go after Sam and at least see who were the others they were supposed to be meeting up with. Talking with anyone else was hardly the first thing on his mind but seeing as how he had no other options... As he entered the room, passing Richard who seemed to be doing nothing other than looking distracted, his eyes fell on Hana first but he felt nothing out of the ordinary. Without speaking he looked over towards the other girl, who seemed to be older than Hana. 'What the hell is Metatron doing here?' Lei suddenly kicked in. 'What?' Henrik folded his arms, doing his best not to look so awkward just standing there in the room with the other three. 'Don't bother explaining who Metatron is. I already know. Just get to the point as to why you're surprised.' 'I don't remember every angel who had Fallen but I'd definitely remember someone like this. There's no way...' Henrik shook his head at the thoughts Lei sent him. Perhaps Lei wasn't as "all-knowing" as he claimed to be for an angel. Henrik attempted to probe the angel for more information but all that came up was a blank as if Lei's consciousness had been hidden away. It hardly surprised Henrik that he would be given so little information to work with from Lei. All that man ever left was more questions than answers. He returned his attention towards Hana who seemed to be in pain. There wasn't exactly going to be a better time for introductions so Henrik finally spoke up after being silent for so long. "Araquiel or, rather, Henrik Brandt." He pointed towards himself halfheartedly, amusing himself with the remote possibility that one of the two would have heard of him. Of course, unlike more famous scientists, his work would not be recognized until the times would catch up with his own theories...forty years from now. Not everyone could be as interested in his line of work as Iris was. Before depression sat in he spoke up again. "You have me to thank for getting the others out of Norway alive."
Great thread. Like how you gave some very general ideas and themes for people to look at. I'll be adding my own suggestions later when I have time as I have had YEARS of experience making RPs. ALL THE EXPERIENCE.
Over 14 minutes of gameplay here: You can read the highlights here(click).
The stretch goal for consoles has been moved by $300,000. Instead of $2,500,000 the game will only need $2,200,000 for it to be released on current gen consoles! That's great news. The ??? stretch goals have been pushed back as a result. Also, the "Making of" stretch goal has been moved to a lesser amount as well. This is great.
Lei raised a hand to his forehead and rubbed it, trying to force away the pain but it only continued to come back. With Henrik's pent up anger and all the commotion happening recently he had absolutely forgotten that it was more than just using his powers that caused fatigue but merely being in control. It was only made worse by the fact that he could not fully suppress Henrik's own consciousness. Though that might have been a good thing because it at least meant that Henrik was stronger than the average human. Of course, that wasn't saying much. Humans were always a weak species. "Jeg er den som reddet livet ditt. [I'm the one who saved your life.]" If he answered with Henrik's name, that would hardly be true. 'Here. You deal with them.' 'Tired already?' 'Apparently me being in control too long is bad for your health. Stupid human body.' Henrik blinked and adjusted his hands on the wheel. His body felt heavy but whatever damage Lei might have done to him was probably not permanent. At least he hoped so since they still had several things that needed to be taken care of. He rubbed the back of his neck and looked up at the sky, it would be awhile before they arrived anywhere safe. The others could always sleep in the car while he drove, after all, it would be too hard to drift off when Iris was all he could think about. He tightened his grip on the wheel. "We're heading to the airport." Henrik muttered in English. He repeated this phrase in both Norwegian and Spanish. The car leaned to the side as it suddenly swerved and changed directions. He wasn't thinking as fast as he should have as that was the first place he should have thought to go to. "You have a jet or something, don't you?" This was directed towards Alistair. He didn't need an answer though, it was no secret that Alistair was wealthy enough to afford one. This earned no respect from Henrik though. Eventually, they would arrive at the airport and after ignoring everyone Henrik would end his day without sleep because Arch can't force everyone to end their days and won't post again immediately after everyone.
Mighty No. 9 Games I'd want to play but can't would include things I might have money for, but don't have time to play. I'm still on unfinished playthroughs of FFVII and Legend of Mana but there's just a list of old RPGs I'd like to play. Xenogears, Chrono Trigger/Chross, many other FFs, and others.
0 Lei arrived in the new city in Henrik's nondescript SUV, because Henrik had never believed in driving a tiny car like other Europeans, heading towards the warehouse he had sensed the others were in. They were about as subtle as a hippie in a boot camp. Things would have been a lot smoother if it hadn't been for the near-apocalyptic destruction. With all the dark angels around, Lei could not pinpoint Temeluchas or if she was even a part of the swarm that had been sent to Earth. He had expected Henrik to chime in with a comment on the events but nothing came. Maybe Henrik wasn't impressed. Lei knew that he wasn't. He casually ran over a possessed human as it was better to do that than waste time doing anything else. Chaos and the deaths of the other Fallen were what the dark angels were after. Lei couldn't resist sticking it to them by helping the others escape. Though...that did prove to be against what he had initially had intended to do. Leave it to everyone else to screw up his plans. At least they wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Henrik and himself. If they had anything in common it was their antisocial nature. The SUV came to a screeching halt in front of the group of pathetic mortals. "Come with me if you want to live." Lei spoke in the language of angels, his least favorite language. It was much easier than repeating the same thing in several other tongues. They would all understand him and if they were too confused to stand there gawking at him, then they were hardly worth saving to begin with. 'Saving a bunch of weaklings is hardly what I had in mind.' Lei thought in frustration as the mere act of speaking to them and waiting for them to react was an agonizingly long wait. How could mortals stand to be so slow?
4Staying at the house was never going to get them anywhere. If Lu was going to go after them, she would be able to find them no matter where they went. She was obviously no on Earth. Not yet anyways. That only meant she dragged Iris to Hell. Their only option now was to stalk the others and pounce when she decided to show herself again. The other Fallen might not like the fact that they're being followed but Lei could hardly care about what a bunch of lowly humans thought. If they got in his way...well there could hardly be any negative consequences of that to him. 'Við þurfum eitthvað að sofa. Nema þú myndir vilja sofa í bíl.' Lei winced as Henrik cut in with a language that took him several moments to place. Several moments too long which caused Henrik to continue with, 'It's Icelandic. I said we need to find somewhere to sleep unless you'd rather sleep in a car.' "Since when do you know Icelandic?" Lei knew exactly what languages Henrik had learned and that was not one of them. 'I went through some of your memories. I guessed that angels would know hundreds of languages and I was right. Tomorrow I'll learn Arabic.' "You can't learn two languages in two days, Henrik. Especially not ones as difficult as those." Lei paused before he spoke again. "...Are you even holding up in there?" 'My wife's been taken off the face of the Earth, she might be dead, and my two unborn children are going to face some unknown fate while I'm stuck without control of my own body. Yeah. Couldn't be better.' Henrik's anger only brought back the headache Lei had from before. 'And of course I can do something as trivial as that. I can count the number of people with an IQ near mine with one hand.' "You were right about angels having an ego." Lei muttered in annoyance as he returned his attention back to the road. Now that Henrik had mentioned it, he hadn't considered the possibility that Henrik would be able to sift through his memories just as easily as he had been able to do to Henrik. Lei hated to think of what would happen if his own past was exposed. Thankfully, Henrik seemed to be preoccupied with more...academic pursuits to keep him distracted.
His eyes snapped open in reaction to the familiar presence. The two warring consciousnesses had no other choice but to set their anger towards each other aside and wake up. He ran downstairs, the scent and sight of smoke thick in the air. Iris was nowhere to be seen. She was no longer in the house. He clenched his fists and shook as he walked through the flames towards the remnants of the mist, unphased by the heat. He narrowed his eyes as the mist vanished leaving him in nothing but the fire and the knowledge that Lu had done this. It had been a mistake fighting with him and prolonging their conflict for so long. Because he had been distracted, Temeluchas had been able to slip away with the Iris and the twin nephilim she was carrying. This was his worst failure. Hatred that could not even be directed towards his enemy was all that remained but after a moment of thought, one last hope stayed with him. Even if Iris could not be saved he knew that it was still possible that his own influence would be stronger than anything Lu could bring to his nephilim. Even if that was even partially true, it would buy him time. His eyes shifted towards the spreading flames as he raised both hands, palms facing outwards towards the blaze. "Can't let the place burn to the ground." He muttered in a dark tone, twisting his hands and balling them into fists in one smooth motion to suffocate the fire. It took several moments but the flames had been extinguished. He took in a deep breath, for the first time in decades remembering how weak the human body was. The damage to the first floor was extensive but nothing had been lost that could not be replaced. Nothing except for Iris. Lei touched a hand to his forehead to wipe off a drop of sweat, his anger only intensifying at how long and how much effort he needed to put out the fire. 'I better save all the flashy stuff for killing Lu. Now either I find her or I lure her back to us.' 'Can you even do either?!' Henrik's own thought's pushed into Lei's. 'Maybe not. I should, however, posses sufficient strength to kill her. That is, however, if you don't mind the risk of destroying this body.' 'How can I believe you? What good is that if we can't even save Iris!?' Lei touched a hand to his forehead, or rather Henrik's, and shook his head to clear the headache that came with Henrik's mental shouts. 'She's nothing but a pissy sidekick to me. If she's still on this plane I might be able to track her through her little vanishing act. Getting to her would be another story. I can't just start wasting our strength on teleporting about. If she isn't on Earth though...I'm sorry.'
Updated the first post. First goal has been made. Looks like this game is going to come out! We're not done yet though. $900,000 is not enough for this game. From the FAQ on their kickstarter: This only guarantees us six bosses! More is needed for eight. Spoiler
Well, I'm just going to post this right now and say that I did an estimation(a very rough one) of how many backers and money would go into this per hour. 300 backers and $16,000 an hour. This would leave us with about 12,700 backers and $747,000 right now. I cut the estimation down with both rates because I figured it'd only get slower. Luckily, I undershot it and people seem to be doing a better job at funding this than I anticipated. 12,793 backers with $755,097 pledged. I'll update the original post once the first goal has been met and continue doing it if the other ones are as well. Keep going strong, Inafune.
"Wakey wakey." Henrik coughed as he slowly opened his eyes, his hands pushing hard on the ground while his vision slowly began to return. He blinked a few times as he tried to collect his thoughts only to come up with nothing other than a question as to why was he staring at spots of blood on the ground. The taste of his own blood was still in his mouth so he spat out what he could. The ground was charred black to a hard but unfamiliar kind of material. It was still warm and felt just like stone. If he didn't know any better, he would have guessed that it was- "Obsidian? I didn't expect you to piece that together after regaining conscious-Wait...we can't really say you were unconscious if you were asleep, now can we?" Lei laughed and kicked at the ground, cracking it. "What the hell happened?" Henrik forced himself to stand before looking around the area. There was nothing to be seen but miles of obsidian stretching out in every direction. The only source of light was the sky, still burning as it was from last night's dream but they were nowhere near where all the others had taken place. "You lost your temper and the mist showed up." Before Henrik could ask his next question Lei continued with, "The damage done here didn't carry outside of here." He gripped Henrik by the collar and growled, showing anger for the first time since Henrik met him. "I told you that it would be worse here. I told you. I can't trust you to keep that power under control. We don't need that kind of power." Henrik's memory was kickstarted at the mention of this. Yes, he had lost his temper once more against Lei and this time he hadn't been able to contain it which lead to the mist completely obliterating everything in sight. Well, that was partially true. Lei managed to keep the damage from reaching outside of the dream but he seemed ready to put an end to this game he had been playing with Henrik. "What? Are you going to kill me?" Henrik pushed Lei's hands away. "I'm not a regular human. Even if you wanted to do it, it wouldn't be easy." "I've killed several angels and nephilim during my time on Earth. Not permanently of course, but they deserved it." Henrik stepped back, raising an eyebrow. "Deserved it?" Even if Lei beat Henrik to a bloody pulp, he knew Lei wouldn't kill him. That would put them both in the grave. "Vengeance is what I do. Even if I am Fallen I'm still going to keep doing my job. And I won't let some emotional human like yourself screw things up. The nephilim cannot go into their hands. I won't allow it! And now you've shown yourself incapable of holding back the mist." Lei clenched his hands into fists. "After I take control I'll make her death quick. Once that's over with, I'll just have to wait for the next vessel." "That's not going to happen!" Before Henrik could even react Lei's fingers were around his throat. He lost his footing, having been lifted off the ground only being able to use his hands to grip onto Lei's arm. "Don't look so disappointed. You never had any hope of stopping me." Lei looked off to the side before returning his attention to Henrik. He should have woken up by now whether the fight had been over or not but the dream didn't end there. Lei was keeping him there until he could wrest control of Henrik's body. All Henrik could do was hold on and hope his body did not give out on him until he could think of a way out. Seconds crawled by as his strength began to slip.
Kendric took another step away from Sarah only to find himself backed against a rock wall she had summoned to surround them. His hands touched the rock wall, pressing on it. Of course it was sturdy, Sarah wouldn't make something that would fall easily. He looked away when she mentioned that someone had "sold him out" but even if what she said was true, he couldn't blame whoever might have done it. If telling them that he had the stone meant that it could save someone else's life, he was fine with it. It would only be a matter of time before even more police showed up, with backup, to clean up the mess Sarah had made. Maybe with her display of violence the blame might be shifted away from the students. Hopefully people would see the truth...or conflict would only serve to make things worse. Either way, Kendric knew he had no other choice but to defend himself and he wasn't about to just sit there and let himself die. "I'm not afraid of you." He stubbornly spoke, tensing up as he drew on more of his power. 'Five minutes, maybe less. That's all I need to stay alive for. That should be more than enough time to ensure that the others get here...and enough for the police to interrupt this.' "If you want the stone so badly, you're going to have to work for it!" Kendric suddenly rammed his elbow into the wall behind him, causing fist-sized rocks to fall. It wasn't enough force to cause the whole thing to collapse but it was enough for what he needed. As the rocks fell he caught and hurled them right at Sarah with speeds rivaling that of a bullet. ~~~~~~~~ The desert heat is immense. The students may stick out like sore thumbs, but thankfully there are dunes to use for cover. The ruins of a city long since abandoned are but an hour's walk away. With all the chaos in Tasnica, it would take at least one day for the police to begin their search at the ruins. Only archaeologists go there as many areas are too unsafe for tourists to visit. Very little is there for the students other than a temporary sanctuary and shelter from the heat. Legends say that the ruins are a pathway to another land, but this has never been proven...

'They're a bunch of children.' Henrik decided it would be a waste of a bullet to stop such a stupid fight. They must have entirely forgotten the whole reason they came to his house. Given how things seemed to be, they must have been missing a leader. There was no way they could have made it this far on their own. "Skinny guy's faster." Lei commented. "Too bad there's no bite in his attacks." 'Is that the only thing you can comment on?' Henrik's eyes trailed away from the fight as they searched for Lei only to find that he was nowhere to be seen. Henrik thought that this was just because Lei had felt no need to show himself. There was hardly any point in it other than to mess with Henrik's concentration. "They're still fighting like humans. It's so-" 'Inefficient?' His response to Lei surprising himself as well but it was exactly what he felt about the situation...outside of the fact that there were two men roughing each other up right outside his house. It didn't seem as if either of them actually knew how to apply their powers to a fight outside of whatever possible enhanced physical abilities they may have gained. Henrik thought that perhaps he may have had more practice with his own ability, telekinesis, than the two who were fighting. Or, as he hated to admit it, because of Lei's own "training" where Henrik was discouraged to just throw a punch. Admittedly his skill was lacking but he more than made up for it with sheer improvisational ability with his powers. "When you two are done kissing, the rest of you can feel free to come back. Or not. I'll be ready when Temeluchas returns, with or without any of you." Henrik spoke up loud enough for Alistair and Sam to hear. It was a shame that just two people projected such a terrible image for the group. Perhaps whoever their leader was had left the group simply because of how hopeless they seemed to be. The revolver that had been floating overhead, unbeknownst to the others, returned to Henrik's hand. He had no need for it now. "I suggest that you all get out of my neighborhood until you children are feeling more civil." With that, Henrik turned around and shut the door behind him. If the others left without attempting to break his door down, he would go to sleep. The day had been more unproductive than he had thought it would be given how many newcomers had shown up.
That's impressive. Really glad to see Rockstar, Ubisoft, Square, and Capcom up there. ...And Insomniac. Glad to see that third party support is strong even though we already knew that.
"Judging from their personalities..." 'What? Don't just say something and decide not to give me useful information.' Henrik kept his focus on the group as a lingering gaze on empty space would likely show them that he was distracted, at least partially. At least one of them was willing to get to the point, the same one that Lei claimed to be dim-witted. They wanted the same thing he did. "I'd say this one," Lei poked a finger through Sam's head again. He seemed to enjoy doing that since no one could interact with him, "is easy to anger. Strong but stupid. It wouldn't take someone like you any real effort to stay one step ahead of him." That wasn't the kind of answer Henrik wanted. He had hoped to get some names out of Lei but he only had other things in mind. "Tempy sends her regards" Rather than lose his cool, which was something that would have given him great pleasure at that moment, Henrik responded simply with, "Careful or you'll just be a red smear on the pavement." "Arrogant, cunning, and sadistic. Not really any threat to us as long as we don't turn our backs." Again Lei continued to speak as if he was planning on systematically killing them. Henrik wasn't fond of the idea. He had no sympathy for these people but he had no need to make them his enemies. He only wanted Temeluchas to be dead by the end of all of this. That was it. "Don't worry. If I wanted them dead, do you really think they'd be standing here right now?" 'Don't talk to me like you can just jump in and take control over my actions any time you want. You already died. Get used to taking a backseat.' He wasn't sure what angered him more. Alistair's mention of Temeluchas or Lei's continued egotistical attitude. Henrik could only wonder if that's how he had been back before the Fall, if all of them had been that way. Maybe they really did deserve punishment. He crossed his arms and looked over the group for a moment. Henrik had no intention of leaving Iris alone, but passing up an opportunity for vengeance would be difficult. The only other option was to bring Iris. Samuel and Alistair were definitely not the types he would trust. "My wife's pregnant." At this, Lei snickered at Henrik. Obviously sharing anything personal wasn't something a "real angel" would do. "I won't leave her alone." He paused. "Temeluchas is likely to come back because of that. While you lot are running about, she'll be knocking on my front door." Henrik thought about it for a moment. "At the current rate...I'd give it two or three days before she turns up." Of course, that was just an estimation based off of how far along Iris was but just tossing out a deadline like that contained the possibility of forcing the others to stay. If anything, they could at least serve as fodder.
I taught Bushy everything he knows. He is my Roadie after all. *votes for spdude*
