Essentially, no it wasn't. He didn't say the staff are the only reason anything bad ever happens on this site and that he has never done anything to push anyone's buttons. From what I gather he's mostly referencing what happened today when Vivi's thread was wrongfully locked, which you were not here for, and where things would progress in a worst case scenario based on how that was handled.
I love how people actually used to do that all the time.
See, there's the whole perspective thing. Now you know how we feel when members take our jokes the wrong way at times haha. But I for one am okay with being a bit more careful with certain members (Which is what I've been working on since before you guys busted out the new edition of the fine print) as long as we can still have our fun.
Calling members out is against the rules, no? And RvR regardless of intention you have to admit your comment came off a bit condescending. Telling someone to grow up is definitely the type of thing the rules were just edited about.
I see where you're coming from and do agree that when a member over reacts we should change our reaction to that a bit, but still this is ingrained in some of us. Lately I from what I've seen things HAVE actually been getting better with certain members...or at least that's my opinion. The newer members are starting to see that we just want to help them improve and the older ones are being a bit more lax and not coming off as harshly...at least this is how I see things.
You act as if we go out of our way to make these members feel bad, just climbing in their windows and fucking their feelings up and shit. Half the time the jokes will get started in a thread that said member posted after it veers from the original topic and they'll get upset and say "this is my thread get out stop it guys waaah" and then things start to shift towards poking a little fun at them. The Spamzone is for everything off topic, so snark can go there too. If people get involved in it frequently but then can't take it, then stay away from threads where its going on. We don't want them to get out, but they should fall back if they can't take it. We WANT them to join in and be able to take it, though. Like I said, we don't go in every peaceful thread and start rough housing, but it's like a mosh-pit. We're not all to concerned about who may get involved. If their feelings get hurt they should have just stayed away. The people who get hurt by our antics are the ones who should have just left the thread and stopped feeding our fire.
I understand that you don't want us to outright insult people, but I must point out that as of late many of the members causing a ruckus and putting on a big exit scene in the spamzone do it because they can't take a few comments intended to be constructive criticism and excessive use of images similar this: and this: Some of their claims of harassment may be a bit warranted, but there are an equal amount of people who just get butthurt and take things the wrong way.
See what happens when Makaze puts his mind to something? He's the fucking chosen one I tell you.
Because that is exactly what his post said word for word mmm yupp
One small step for the members "on thin ice". Absolutely nothing for the forum as a whole because "WE WILL NOT COMPROMISE" said the oppressors.
What I have been trying to get across is we don't control how everyone perceives our jokes and comical banter. Sure, we have gone at members before, but you guys act like we gather on MSN and decide who to attack for the week. Most of the time when one member gets a bit picky with another and then everyone else chimes in its because the member who decided to speak up is really only saying what the rest of us feel, so we're going to cosign what they say. Some members really just take our fun the wrong way, we don't control that. Honestly, we don't try to "hurt" the ones that can't "take the joke", we simply try to hammer home the point that it IS a joke and should be taken as such.
tldr: the way you guys have fun is no longer to be tolerated and we will not compromise and thus this thread is actually pointless I don't understand how jokes and image macros are being cracked down upon, this is the goddamn internet. You wan't us to have a good time, and that is how we do it. You're basically telling the people having the most fun or at least doing their best to have fun and make fun for others to join in on that they can't have fun. You say this isn't the playground but lets face it: the internet is the playground for most of us because regardless of if this is a kids site or not most of us are young adults. Why can't we have one section to let of steam?
dramadramadramadrama
This is kind of illogical. This paints a picture like so: >Plan of action not working >try it again >repeat We don't bottle it up. I especially let it be known when I have an issue and make a thread about it, and the majority of the time it's locked before the discussion can begin.
But in this case the slaps are only as hard as the members take them. Things have been like this for years here, the people who don't like it chose to join this community so they can choose to adapt to the spamzone or not post in it. There are other sections, we aren't like that in all of them, so let us have our one. No, it's not exactly like that. It's more like Someone and possibly their friends saying something that insert members don't like or agree with out loud for everyone to hear on purpose (Because no thread is an accident and everyone can see the threads, people know that when they post them) and then they decide to engage the OP because that is the point of a thread. The ridicule comes when people bring it on themselves. It's always been like that. How do you think I got like this? It was done to me long ago and I adapted. I learned the customs and the ways that things are handled here and rose in the ranks. We ridicule because we want these members to see their faults and improve on them to better contribute. Hero of Time is a prime example of a member who has had his ups and downs with us, but is working to adapt to the previously established ways and fit in. And he's doing well in my book. Some of us are just comfortable with everyone. Like I've said before, the spamzone is like a friendly mosh-pit. People should watch and learn before they jump in, because we expect them to know the ropes at least somewhat. Our intentions have been made known, we're dealing out some semi-tough love to the ones who want to be apart of our little spamzone community yet can't handle all of the traditions. We don't control how they see it.
I just hope they actually address our points instead of more sidestepping fuckery.
I know, I just dislike the wait. There's enough staff coming in and out to keep things flowing, the discussion is for anyone to jump into.
Team huddle sounds good to me! We gotta get our plan of attack together before they fire back.
Looks like it. We start making valid point and everyone runs away. But Misty says the others are typing, so I'll trust her. Hopefully things pick up in a few minutes.
Don't worry babe, I'll be here as long as you're here <3
