Namine was born in Castle Oblivion, as far as I know, and Marluxia came up with his evil little scheme. Kairi, being a princessof heart, probably was stronger, heartwise then Sora, and could go on with Namine. Plus, Namine was a special kind of nobody. Sora, being the keyblade wielder,apparently isn't as strong or special.
