Being the the game was made by Square Enix and most of their games incorporate strange creatures and such, I think they decided to do the same in Kingdom Hearts. Besides, the game is supposed to be kid-friendly and how much friendlier can you get with nice, talking Disney characters?

Actually, it's more than one song for me. When my friends look at the music on my iPod and see Japanese music, they're like "woah that's weird." Haha, obviously they've never heard of Square Enix or other Japanese video game/culture references. I have Japanese songs from Utada and Myavi on my iPod (:

I thought they were okay. I know it wasn't necessary to read them in order to understand the story of Kingdom Hearts better since they took direct quotes and scenes from the game. They also added in lots of Japanese culture references like ramen, etc. which didn't bother me, I was okay with those since it's a manga. Overall, I thought they were okay.
