Second hand smoke has been proven to not even be nearly as 'deadly' as it is made out to be. It's a ploy for the most part. My dad smoked a lot as did my grandfather and I can say that every one of the children they had, which was quite a few, have clean lungs. There are quite a few reasons why we are seeing more cancer happening, despite the fact smokers are quitting the habit. Yes, cancer is not lowering due to less smokers as prices are forced up. However, no one wants to cover those because suddenly we come back to the environment. 1. We are living longer lives. People live twice as long as they used to from even a couple hundred years ago. Even in the last 100 years we've increased life expectancy. Therefore people live longer as the body still breaks down and more cancer cases come about. 2. People did not even know or recognize cancer for a long time unless they could see the growths. Countless people died in the past from cancer and were never diagnosed as often people with cancer have other failing ailments that can be diagnosed first. 3. More people go to get physicals and such more and medicine has improved dramatically. 4. Radiation in the environment and also reduced trees that produce oxygen are a big factor. Because of the ozone being weakened, more radiation filters in which is an absolute known cause of exacerbating cancer cells in people. 5. Carbon monoxide from vehicle exhaust and factories that produce nasty clouds of smog. There are some cities that literally have smog warnings for asthmatic people and alerts. This smog is a big contributor to bad lungs and such. So in the end, cigarette smoke isn't good for you but we have a lot against us that is far worse and also better medicine to find out what is going on early as long as people do go at least once a year for physicals. Cigarettes aren't good for people but when someone is smoking outside, you can't get second hand smoke, as some people try to make up. The scientific research clearly shows that. As long as a smoker isn't in his/her home smoking and letting clouds build up because he/she doesn't ventilate the house, second hand smoke is not so bad. I do think people should consider not adding another problem to the situation, so I suggest people not smoke but in the end it is their body and I hang around people who smoke and it doesn't do anything to me.
