Archeology and Anthropology are the fields I am studying too, as well as work with forensics and psychology. Being in the scientific and/or anthropological and historical fields can lead a person to discover things that are even -already known- and can offend people who do not really research, let alone ever watch documentaries which are accessible to nearly anyone. I can say from proof that there are some things already we have that are common fact amongst scientists, historians, and any people who educate themselves and are scholars in their own rights, that I have annoyed friends or family with when I tried to explain how something simply worked. Of course, many people here get to read my very long posts and some send me nice messages saying it's cool, and others...well they make sure to tell me I'm long-winded. =:) Science has come a long way and you are entering a field which receives a LOT of scrutiny by others who do -not- want to know things, or get too easily confused. Archeology delves into the history of humankind, fossil records, primitive (not too fond of the word but it's there) cultures of the past, anthropological political comprehensions, religious studies and examinations, diversity and that blasted theory of Evolution. It is a -fascinating- field and I love it, if nothing else just for answers for myself. However, despite the fact that some news upsets some people, others who may be laymen or casual scholars do like to learn these things that are discovered. The history channel, science channel, discovery channel, animal planet, etc would not be so popular if no one cared to know. The only dangers you might see are the following. In presenting what you know you'd want to make sure you keep an open scientific debating mind about what you are doing and examining so that you make good hypotheses and you also aren't too quick to judge just what it is you've discovered. There is nothing like making a -find- and finding out it's not so cool or you were in error about it. People will come out of the woodwork to rip apart at your work which includes the University or College you work through with your paper. After these guys get done, the Creationists come in, and other skeptics, and other University professors. It is after this that the information tends to hit other places if it is deemed important, and if not, it goes on a shelf, or might be presented in some program later, or can be used as evidence to support new theories. I really see no danger that is so catastrophic to not go through this process, though it's tedious and sometimes boring to sit around waiting. The worst fears I ever might have are that someone rips it apart and finds flaws in what I've done that I cannot defend and have a counter support to keep that thing they pick at. Also, I won't say I am crazy about Creationist supporters in science because they can be very irritating as they may themselves make you a public figure as some people I know of have had happen, in a negative light that they must defend. Of course, a Creationist scientist also may get scrutinized for his or her work too, so it all balances out somehow in the end. The joy of science really to me is that we -do- get to learn the facts, and that includes the person sitting in front of a TV or the person reading a book from the bookstore. Having this information circulated is critical and also propels science forward so that it is with not just the 'educated elite' but with the common every day people. So to me, there is very little I think people need shielded from in science as far as archeology itself goes or any discoveries made. It gives us answers and more questions and some people love that sort of thing. The worst thing you have to worry about is scrutiny, which in a way is a good thing, because if what you find and report can stand up to it, you've made a great contribution to science and the world at large. I hope what I've said helps you out some. Even if somehow what you could discover might baffle people for a while, it's part of the grander picture and I don't see any harm really coming out of it. Yeah, it wasn't that hard at all once you knew how to get through it easy enough. The hardest part was collecting enough points for the Jiminy Journal because the matches weren't difficult in themselves, which then I just used Peter Pan and Final Form, and Magnega spell.
I am sorry to see both Cin and Darkwatch (Deathwatch to me when I'm not paying attention) leave the administration of the forums. You both are very smart and I've had a lot of fun chatting it up with you in the Intelligent Discussion forums and around the site. You've also helped deal with troublemakers fairly and taken time to explain things to others. I will say, as I run an Rpg and Forums group too, that it is very hard to keep things in order at times, especially when a Forum gets this big. KH-Vids has become pretty popular and deserves it after all the hard work that has been put into it. However, staff will have problems from time to time because so much is happening. Most of the people I've run into seem to be pretty cool. Of course, I don't know how things used to be, so I can't judge the old days to the new, but it seems you both will be sticking around, so I hope to continue to see you still. You are good peeps. I can't possibly know about any corruption to the site diplomacy, but perhaps it is a sign for staff to really buckle down and discuss things openly somewhere like a private chat room now and then so that everyone can be eye to eye. Any way, good luck to you both and I hope you'll still be showing up to play hardball in the Intelligent Discussion forums because it is there I think you'd really most be missed. It's sad it had to come to this, but these things do happen.
Wow, thanks for the post on information. You are always getting us such tasty tidbits of the future stuff, Xaldin. Isn't Zexion's weapon the 'Lexicon'? Seems he uses Lexicons as attack weapons in KH2:fm. I found that unique, but it also seems he can change form and mimic weapons to an extent too as he did when he changed to Sora in Reverse Rebirth.
FFX was not my favorite FF game and I think they've done enough catering to it. I'd rather see Kefka instead and some FF 6 characters maybe like Terra and Locke, since Setzer was there. Kefka would be just...awesome. I was so sick of fighting Seymour and seeing him. Either that or I could hope something could be done with maybe earlier FFs like with Kain and Golbez etc. FFX was the weakest FF game to me, though it had wonderful eye candy.
Even on dial-up you have to have a slower than 56k connection to really be bothered, I'd think. Gifs are mostly small and so enforcing people to 1 gif at the size that's been said seems good enough. It sucks that the mods and admin have to go around and tell people to fix the gif situation, but at the same time, it would stink to not have the option of having a gif at all for some sigs. I hope that gifs aren't taken away in entirety and it's sad some people go overboard and don't fix it so that the rest of us can enjoy the privilege to have them. I see why the mods are getting frustrated. 4 months is a while and by now everyone -should- know better.
Roxas had a special tie and I believe he has something to do with Ven. Also he had the Keyblade being connected to a person who was already -chosen- by a Keyblade, as you mentioned, which is Sora. If Ven is in the equation, he too was a Keyblade wielder. Also, the two Keyblades connected to him were Oblivion and Oathkeeper, which were special to Sora and connected Sora to Riku and Kairi. If Ven is in the equation, these two Keyblades may also have connected to Terra and Aqua perhaps. Roxas was definitely in his own scenario and Axel, who was pretty empathic, even if he did not have a Heart did ask if Roxas thought maybe he had a Heart. Axel also said that Sora made him feel as Roxas had done too, that Axel himself had a Heart sometimes. So Roxas is really his own unique self and probably should be considered so. As for King Mickey, it's clear that he had a Keyblade prior to KH and even in KH was wielding one. He has one in Birth by Sleep which apparently takes place around 10 years prior to the first KH game. So, whether we know 'how' or not, it can be assured that he -is- a Keyblade wielder and so he went to Darkness to find the opposite Keyblade of the Kingdom Key so that the Door to Darkness could be sealed on both sides. Perhaps it was always a Keyblade he was attached to or not, but hopefully we'll learn more in BBS and can get some info from the Coded game. Not sure how much a phone game is going to give us for information but I suppose we'll find out. Namine however was Kairi's Nobody and she was not said to have a Heart really. She was special in that she was considered less of a Nobody because her body was not lost to Darkness as all other Nobodies were, so essentially she possibly was just Kairi's soul. Without a Heart, I don't think -anyone- can be a Keyblade wielder truly since it seems to operate off the notion it chooses people based off their hearts. Also, Namine was considerably weaker willed than Sora, Riku, Roxas or King Mickey and her motivations until KH2 were rather weak. This is why I do not think she could be a Keyblade wielder as Kairi was. Riku also -gave- Kairi the Keyblade she had and it's theorized at least that he did so out of the strength of her Heart and his friendship to her. I doubt even Riku would -make such a flowery thing- himself, but it's how it turned out because of how girly Kairi is. Namine is very powerful, but she doesn't really meet the criteria to hold one or be chosen. Because of Kairi's will, however, in KH2, where she actually shows she's not just a merry sue and wants to not get left behind, she had her resolve solid. Even though physically she's not much, her Heart is very powerful, and once she had gotten over fears and such, she became more worthy.
I think it's a good thing, but in the end, also a bad one. Fundamental Christian 'scientists' often askew science to meet the Christian needs whereas science itself is not meant to disprove or prove religion, but to work with what is tangible and 'probable'. So, it's a good move in a way, but they are researching to prove God's work whereas others study these things to find out 'how they work' and that to me is the safest approach to science, because it's neutral. Also, I feel religion trying to force its way into science has been done a lot lately, and people like Galileo and other scientists of now have no reasons to -fear- the church because the churches should -never- have the power to charge anyone with anything. Yet it does still happen. At least now they can call people blasphemers and infidels but can't kill them for studying. The protestant church is also guilty of these things, such as trying to get scientists such as Einstein and Darwin to be excommunicated, ostracized etc. Darwin even had a schism at his death bed because some woman decided to say she was at his death bed and he had denounced his faith in science and turned back to God, which he never did, and this woman was never there. I do think it's fine religious people -study- science but I also think it's right that science studies religion. Science is a way of examining things to make the unreal tangible to us and not so -supernatural- and I'll probably always lean towards the method of study rather than going through studying science through a religious eye. All in all, I'd say it's a good thing, but not as great as it could be after having met too many Creationist scientists that try to ruin science with lies and use it to only support the existence of God. That is not what science is about.
Right now, actually part of the overpopulation problem in areas is caused by older people living a lot longer. I don't think we are really expanding as much as we used to with generations after the Baby Boomer time. It's why we are running into problems with all sorts of matters now, because younger generations aren't having as many children as the Baby Boomer generation did and the generations before that. Most people aren't out having 5 to 9 children anymore, so people are changing these things and there are actually worries that we may be spreading ourselves thinner rather than overpopulating. There have always been diseases that struck, even when humans were not as populated. Cancer is so widespread but it has existed for a very long time. It is nothing new. However, because we live longer now, more things go wrong with us as we age. People did not even know about cancer but it had been a part in the past, though many people died out when they were in their 40s and 50s. This is why people also were married at young ages. We have a lot of ways to prolong life now but unfortunately, not our organs and such. As for the Bird Flu, this inappropriately, or ironically, named flu is a new thing, but -many- flus have come from birds, so why it was named that is beyond me. The Bird Flu could become an epidemic but the Spanish Flu was one that did more damage and in a lot quicker of a time. The same can be said of being wary of the West Nile scenario with mosquitoes. We continue to evolve but so do viruses and bacteria. It's the way life worked. The only reason population is a problem with these things is because cities are very compact with people living all on top of each other and so catching these diseases can be easier than if people are spread out. However, we do have better water management than in older times and septic situations, food preparations are safer etc. Even with these diseases or conditions, we still have more of a chance of surviving than people did with the Bubonic Plague etc because we can find out easier what is causing the situation and work on things. Most nations, to include places even like China, which are huge, have reduced how many children they will have. In China you can only have one child unless you pay a hefty fee for more, and that may entitle you to but one more child. In the U.S. and Europe, we have less children mostly because now more parents both work and pretty much often have to unless one parent makes sufficient money to support the family effort. So really, by what I can see, because the economy is how it is and the fact that it is very inconvenient to have 4 or more kids anymore, we've kind of been cutting back on kids, rather than people having a ton of them. It just doesn't meet our lifeway of today. I think we'll notice this more in the next 10 to 15 years really, as the Baby Boomer generation retires and we see who's all left in the workforce.
Really it is hard to make judgment calls and say that W7FHAX was being truly bad. I don't think so. I believe it was more of a miscommunication and misunderstanding, which if the cards were played right, could turn out to help both the mom and teen. Though some people are slamming on Gritz for his very strong opinion in things, he has some valid points to consider as to why teens are looked at as they are. There ARE teens that will just talk back to talk back, act tough in front of their friends and think they are all ready for the real world, when in fact, they are delusional. Parents are NOT always right, and if one is wrong, a teenager should be able to voice that, but where has 'tact' gone? There -should- be some protection there for children and teens. If parents are over-protective, it's your job as a teen to try a different approach rather than going behind their backs because sooner or later they figure it out. Part of showing you are an adult is confronting them on a decision with tact, debating it, and well, you may have to debate it a few times but sooner or later -most- parents will give in if they see you are capable of not getting too hurt. Any parent's responsibility is to ensure their child's safety and teens are still children. Parents and teens though aren't easy to just lump in a sum group of stereotype class and say "All teens are rebellious, spoiled and need discipline" and all parents are "over protective, overbearing, dominating and nitpick at whatever teens do". Some teens are rebellious, spoiled and are in severe need of discipline. Usually these teens are products of parents that do not follow through with discipline. Think about it a moment. These kids then motivate others who do have stronger parental figures in their lives to do things they -should not- do and when the teens who do have these stronger parents do them, they get punished or meet walls. The very strong dictator sorts of parents are out there, sure, and it sucks, but there aren't as many as teens like to think. There aren't as many bad teens as parents like to think. All an adult has to do is look back to their teenage years and remember how 'misunderstood' at times they were to see that sometimes parents are wrong, but also look back to some 'tough love' experiences that saved them later and say 'thank you' because that lesson could have been learned horribly later on in life. I don't know any teen that is -always- happy with the way the parents treat them. I don't know any parent that is -always- happy with what their teen children are out doing. It's up to both parents and teens to work together and if a teenager grew up wishy washy and is morally deficient something went wrong that is on the part of -both- parties; not just the parents. I do believe in this case, it is more a misunderstanding and also a doubting on the parent's part not just of W7FHAX, but of the people she's hanging around. The mother does not know these people and if the impression can be given in a logical way that W7FHAX, or any teen caught in the situation for that matter, is capable of being -independent- and a -free thinker- who was raised on strong ethics and also -commonsense-, this could change things. I don't see either the parent or her as being -wrong- or -right- 100%. The opinion of at least -one- teenager could be repaired here with the parent and as far as the opinions of others, it doesn't matter, if you get what I mean. If the parent believes in the child and the child believes in the parent, and they learn respect for one another, the thoughts of others is insubstantial. So, I'd urge that truly communication is the key here and to try to keep relations open rather than putting up walls of dishonesty or anger. I hope that makes sense because I see everyone's points here and sadly no parents or teens are exact mirrors of what is generally a misconceived stereotype.
Was with the subject. There's no reason that she should be able to use a Keyblade above any other person in the game, excluding Mickey, Sora, Riku and Roxas. I explained the reasons why which one powerful one mostly seems to be that she has no Heart. Roxas may have had some of his Heart, either by connection with the Keyblade and it gave him Oblivion and Oathkeeper or because of something to do with Ven. Namine did not. She also was a person that had been convinced to do wrong things and really did not seem to have much of a conscience over them except when it came to Sora and later, Roxas. Kairi is easily the Keyblade wielder potential, despite the fact that she's physically not that great. Namine, even if built up physically, wouldn't fit the criteria. No heart or weak will seem to be reasons someone will not have a Keyblade, going with the theme of the story. Geez.
My favorites were KH2, KH1 and FF7, though I also like the other FFs too. I really at first did not think KH was going to be a game I would like back when it first came out...and did not play it for a year. I bought it for 20 bucks at a game store because I was bored with FFX...and FFX didn't even compare. I still am baffled at how Nomura made Disney and FF combine into such an ultimate game. KH2 was even better in some ways and I think what makes it really great is the FF storytelling capability with interactive combat that is real time, and you can move around etc. I will say though that I am an avid player of just about all of the FFs, though a couple are not as great to me as others.
I do kind of agree with others who posted that the manga is lacking and well, I don't like some of the 'liberties' the authors did with the story lines that make some things seem so not canon. Others were interesting additions. I have the KH1 and CoM books and still need to get the KH2 ones. I do hope the KH2 one is better because the others were alright but not what I had hoped for.

King Mickey was obviously to me a Keyblade wielder. If he had one in the past as is shown in Birth by Sleep, he did. However, I think the Kingdom Key is supposed to be pretty important, and Soul Eater changing to Way to the Dawn is as well. The Keyblade Mickey went to get was in Darkness and so perhaps someone forced it to go there and that's why Mickey had to go retrieve it. Maybe that mystery will be answered but it appears he had one Keyblade any way. Apparently the one to Darkness had to be retrieved though in order to lock the Door to Darkness in KH because it had to be locked from both sides. I hope we do get some more info on why it was there in the first place.
Well, -why- should Namine get a Keyblade, just because she's Kairi's Nobody? Roxas...he looks like Ven pretty much and I think there's a connection with Sora and Ven that has to be established. Namine though had Kairi's face mirrored and she's this delicate thing. I can't see her resembling anything but Kairi's soul. That's pretty much what the white and light color of her persona radiated to me, especially when DiZ makes the comment that she's less than even other Nobodies. This is because Namine was not the creation from a destroyed body by Darkness. Just really...a soul, since her Heart hid in Sora and her body was kept by Riku. This is not to say Namine and Kairi to me aren't pretty powerful. Namine, as was pointed out quite a few times, had the power to mess up a person bad by unlinking chained memories and she could rewrite them and also apparently create things she drew. That's some serious amazing power. Kairi can make light doorways apparently by writing a message in a bottle and putting it in the water to reach waters in another section of space. She also, despite being a lot more weak physically than the two boys, has potential. It wouldn't surprise me if while Riku had trained Sora, the two also hadn't taken time to show her some things when she -cared- to learn. However, I -think- you actually need a Heart to be a Keyblade wielder. Riku lost the Keyblade in KH1 because his desperation and all made his heart weaker than Sora's at the time. The reason why Roxas had the Keyblades...I believe it was to connect him to Sora, and I also think it has to do with something about Ven, but I'm still working up that theory. Axel even asks Roxas if he thinks he -has a heart- and Roxas says he's unsure. I believe he may have had a portion or what he did have was because of the two Keyblades which tied him to Sora, Kairi and Riku. Namine was a special Nobody, sure, but no, she wasn't a Keyblade wielder. Also, she was not a -bad- person, but seriously, she only helped Sora and she messed with Riku freely as well as Riku Replica, and only stood her ground about Sora and then started doing something. She was weak willed and didn't want to be lonely and trapped in the castle. That's not to say I don't think Namine isn't cool. I liked her, but those are the reasons I think she could not.
Good question. I do not believe the Organization XIII were 'evil' as I really do not like the word -evil- to describe things. It's a man-made term that simply means doing something against a religious doctrine really. As I doubt the Organization believed in any deity or path of thoughts in that regard, no, they weren't. As was pointed out, the Org were for the most part trying to get their hearts back. Some were really not what I'd consider constructive people or positive people. I.e. Saix was really a jerk. It's difficult to feel sympathy for some, but others, you could. The point though to get was that the Org had very little if any sympathy to those who were not Nobodies. They were on a mission, and it is one that I think was deeper than just -getting hearts back-, because I'm sure Xemnas had plans afterwards. Whether those plans were for a bent good reason or not, can be debated but just looking at some of the people like Axel, Xigbar, Demyx and maybe even Larxene, Zexion and Lexaeus, they weren't -so- bad, even though they did deeds that obviously compromised others' existence to support their own. I'd just say that I think they had some intentions that may have been good, but they were going about things the wrong way and there may have been hope for them had they not done things in the way they had. I think some were forced also to do what they had to do and it was clear Xemnas at least threatened Axel to a task, so it wouldn't surprise me if others were not issues from time to time that he had to put in line to his schemes. This is what gave rise to Vexen wanting to know more about Xemnas and his sleep, or Marluxia finding out information as well and wanting to use Sora to get rid of Xemnas. Many in the Organization were not what one could call 'nice' but at the same time, maybe in different circumstances, some may have been alright. So to wrap up my opinion on it, which as usual turned into some form of an essay for those I drive nuts having to read this all, I'd say that they were not -evil- but they were approaching a situation with deeds that had to be stopped. Were I in Sora's or Riku's shoes, I would have gone to stop them too, though I wouldn't have been as cold as Sora was at points. I think Riku was a lot more understanding of the situation and that sometimes if some people are fanatical and won't be stopped, you have to stop them, but he was more sympathetic and did not just follow DiZ's words as Sora did with Yen Sid. Part of that I think comes from the fact he had to deal with them in CoM and also Repliku, who he did not view as evil, despite the fact Repliku tried to kill him. He stayed with the Riku Replica and talked to him as he died. He also dealt with Namine and Axel, and Namine was someone DiZ pretty well ordered Riku to get rid of. They were fanatical to what they were doing, and if some weren't, they were definitely in fear of Xemnas, who was determined, and Saix seemed utterly devoted to it too. They were capable of doing great harm and that's the path they chose. It's an interesting thing to me to look at wars in history even and see that people often paint the other side as 'lesser beings' or 'evil' when really it's a fight over ideals that conflict enough to put people head to head. They weren't evil, but they weren't willing to compromise either. If they were, things might have worked differently.
I feel bad for both the author of the first post and her mom. It seems that the mom is just trying to do her job and be protective, but is also not savvy with computers or video games etc, so it's hard to understand the kid's life all the time. I can tell the last remark about -fearing- her hurt, and I can see that W7FHAX was also hurt and frustrated. The situation is bad but not -that- bad. If I were you, I'd go and try to have a serious conversation with her and tell her that you'll butt out the sarcasm if she will just hear you out. Tell her you'll show her around the forums here and that the situation isn't as bad as she assumes it could be. Also tell her if you -feel- it's true, that you are responsible enough to never give out information on yourself or do anything foolish, and if you ever did find someone who you'd want to talk to over the phone or something, you would tell her first before calling or giving out your number. Tell her if she lets you talk here, you'll work with her and keep her informed of things. Tell her also, this is a site full of teens, tweens and adults that all just mostly come here to talk about video games and stuff and there are strict rules here against the sort of things that could happen and that the Admin and mods are present easily. Also another thing may be to ask a Mod or Sara in a PM or so if the person would not mind corresponding with your mom for a bit to explain what their job is and what the site is about. Your mom is just being a mom and at least she cares and is actually doing it. In the end being honest with parents can seem like you are shooting yourself in the foot sometimes, but this could work out better for you if she understands it and you are clear and open with her on it. It's too late to really go back now, unless you want to wait a while and hope she doesn't do anything drastic. You already do the right thing any way of not giving out information, and perhaps your sarcasm about the situation shows how mature you are in that you would not be one of the ignorant people who does that. I wish you luck. I do feel you were somewhat -disrespectful- but I also believe that you had a reason to be and when tensions get heated up, things are said. It does not mean, however, that you cannot go talk to her again and try to work this out. I think you and your mother would be stronger for doing so. Arguments happen and parents, nor kids are perfect. I can't think of a teenager and parent that didn't have some issues with growing up, in all seriousness. I didn't get along with my parents because they were abusive since age 5, so I only have others to go off of. I can say though that I think she does care, and this can be dealt with. If you show her the maturity to sit there with her and do this thing, her attitude of you will be better. Also, what will help her is that you -talk- to her, even if she doesn't like what it is you have to say and that you are honest. That's something strong to stand with.
