Yeah this movie really was very bloody. I think the only parts I winced at were because there really was a ton of blood flying at certain parts that I won't spoil. Though I will say the blood to me looked kind of fake and extra watery which I was pretty sure was intentional like those old movie flicks back when. It was really great though.
I really enjoyed this movie. Someone told me it sucked but I bought it any way on DVD and I'm glad I did. Tim Burton, Depp and Rickman all did an excellent job on this. I did also though think of Snape vs Captain Jack fo some reason as a side thing. Good fun though.
The biggest problem with making Riku female in the stories would be that Sora is VERY over-protective of girls to the point where he doesn't want them in combat's way. He denied Kairi when she wanted to go help find Riku. If Riku was there growing up as a girl as well...it would just make another love interest for Sora and instead of basically Riku and Sora being friends but also having some interest in Kairi...it would be Sora has two girls to choose from. The strong girl that fights and can kick butt (Riku) or the Princess girl that gets kidnapped all of the time. I'm not going to say it wouldn't be probable that all of the other events could have happened such as Xehanort's Heartless taking over Riku whether in female form or not because I guess it doesn't creep me out as much as it does some others. However, it would seem to me that there would instead be jealousy that Riku would be corrupted over Kairi instead of between him and Sora. The Darkness corrupted him to believe many things were worse and more devious than originally they were. So it could have even gotten ugly to the point that Riku may have not cared at all for Kairi and the sacrifice to keep her safe that Riku did would have been for nothing. Sora then would have been too late to save her. I see some alterations such as what I mentioned because Sora is so protective over girls and also Riku's character would still have to be strong in order to do the things in the story but it would have had an effect later near the end. Riku would have been very mad that Sora wasn't paying attention to her and I think the repercussions would have been really really bad. Then again, we don't know for sure since Sora is so protective, that he might have actually convinced a female Riku to remain and told Donald to shut up. It's difficult to say there. To me, Riku looked more 'manly' than Sora did. He had a teenage boy build of a very athletic male. His hair and face were a bit misleading but Sora had gentle features too with a thinner form so I actually thought Sora was more feminine in appearance. In KH though a lot of characters had gentle features like Cloud and Leon too. It was just the way they did the artwork because we have to have our fan service I guess.
The concept of Buddhism is different in that a person who wants to achieve enlightenment and peace of mind follows a sort of guideline path to assist him/her on it. It is a personal path that could be accomplished with or without assistance and isn't done through a deity but a personal journey of change. Technically, Horus also said near the exact words Jesus did with the line you just quoted. It's not some new revelation. In the end, maybe we should examine each religion here a bit more to find out similarities and differences since many people do not seem to even know what Buddhism is. Being raised in a western culture, we aren't so privy to it. Maybe later when I get back I'll write a bit on the 4 Noble Truths and 8 Fold Path. It really is a different mind set so Buddha wasn't going to say lines of going through deities since the thought was that anyone could find the path of enlightenment by doing the work themselves and there do not have to be deities or there can be in your life.
Yeah, anything could happen really. I suppose that's why I don't really worry about it. It's either we are made to believe we are going to die out and freak having nightmares or just go with the flow, trying to help preserve the earth from damages caused by us with what I can do personally to make it better. There is just too much random bad stuff that can happen that would be out of our control to contend with. Also, there have been so many times the world was predicted to end and it didn't happen that I just don't believe in anything without sufficient proof. This 2012 thing of the Mayans only seems to be because the Mayans quit the calendar but we also have to remember that the Mayans were also wiped out of their culture by the Spanish.
I do know it's more complex than what I made it but really I would not consider Riku in KH to be bishonen since he does not act feminine or look it except for his face. He was a lot more manly than Sora was in KH by all counts of mannerism and appearance. I do agree Cloud would fit more the bishonen quality as well but didn't want to add him since it becomes a fine line to describe why I call him more bishonen than Sephiroth. However, I think it kind of becomes clear when if you put Cloud in a dress...which he wore and could win the competition for getting chosen if you did the right things with Don Corneo...well he would look more the part than Sephiroth would and also his demeanor was weaker. I'm not sure though that I'd say Zack Fair is bishonen. That's one of those could be either way for me and hard to declare. Everyone else on your lists, Soush, I do agree with. You are also right that being bishonen doesn't imply the character is weak etc. There are many that kick butt despite looking thin, small and feminine. I admit there's a fine line to bishonen vs bidanshi but I really seldom hear the word bidanshi and it seems to fit some characters much better than bishonen does. At other times, it can lean either way. I just think that too often bishonen gets used for any male in anime or video games etc that well...just dresses nice and has gentle facial features. No one would call Cid from FF VII bishonen but would call Vincent bishonen. Also it wouldn't apply to Barret. Any guy with a beard, facial or body hair etc or any distinctively unclean look seems to always be not bish while anything is. I guess that's why I was saying the word bidanshi should also be tossed out there because I never hear it used but on Japanese sites.
Yeah I agree with this too. Hop to it, Rosey!
This may not go here but I suppose it's the only place I could think of putting it. I thought I'd bring up something that kind of bugs me about the word Bishonen being used to describe males that look like males just became they may have some feminine qualities about them that make them look more 'handsome' than girlish. A lot of people use this word and it isn't right according to translations of what the word actually means which is to describe 'boys' that have a beauty that transcends sexual boundaries. In other words, a young boy or man that you have trouble discerning if it is male is bishonen. Bidanshi is a term used for men or boys that look like boys and you can easily tell but are handsome. For example, they have muscles, nice features and may have soft facial features but looking at them you can pretty well still tell these men are men. I am not sure why this word is not used more often other than the fact that we westerners don't hear it used nearly as often as Bishonen. So basically I thought I'd start putting the word out there. Why? Because it kind of gets old hearing that some guys in video games or anime are bishonen when clearly by the meaning they are not. It's like calling someone who's metrosexual an appealing androgynous boy. I'm not trying to be biased here but open up a point on the difference since bishonen also often refers to this sort of 'stereotype'. I'll give some examples of people that are often labeled as bishonen but to me should probably be instead labeled as Bidanshi and see if you guys can come up with more to debate on or if you agree or disagree with me. 1. Sephiroth - It has always bugged me that despite the man having long hair, thin eyebrows and such I have never had a problem discerning Sephiroth was male. He has a muscular build and is an adult with a serious look about him that removes the bishonen standard. I'd call him Bidanshi. 2. Kuja - Kuja was a male that is in his 20s but I could honestly not tell he was male until when someone actually said he was. He had HIPS for goodness sake. He would be called Bishonen to me. 3. Riku - Though Riku was 15 and 16 in the KH games, he is clearly male with a muscular physique and tall. Yes, his face is rather gracile and his hair is as it is, but by no means did I ever have trouble discerning him to be male by his muscular physique and demeanor so I'd call him Bidanshi. 4. Dante - Despite some of Dante's feminine facial features, he definitely appears male to me as you can see his chest and all and his clothes are also masculine. I'd call him Bidanshi. 5. Larsa Solidor - In FF XII, this character is a 12 year old that was very hard for me to tell whether he was male or female and is utterly the epitome of what bishonen means. He's a very nice looking kid but what gender he is was seriously up for debate. Bishonen. Of course this is one of those small things that I thought I'd share and get your opinions on because even in rl people use the word bishonen to describe guys that work out and look good etc but take care of themselves. There seems to me to be a big difference between how these characters look and well, I'll shut up now but just had to ask if others ever get bothered by this at all. Maybe others will come up with more characters too that get classed one way but might be actually bidanshi instead.
I liked Dante better so he won the vote because he's more diverse and well...he's Dante. Nero was cool too though.
I have to agree that Brawl was fun to play but not as good as all of the hype. Then again, seldom does a game ever live up to the hype it is given and I'm not that big of a Nintendo character fan anyway. Snake and Sonic were the only reasons I played it really other than Link and Zelda along with a couple others as I have a strong aversion to 90% of Nintendo characters probably because of all of the furry fan art and fan fic I have had to see. I know I'm in the minority though and am not going to diss the game because it was fun but just not as cool as I had hoped.
I really did like MK when it came out. They did a really good job with the first Mortal Kombat film and sequenced it very well. The second MK was not as good and I was kind of disappointed to not see Christopher Lambert in the role of Raiden. There is apparently rumor of a third MK movie with Christopher Lambert returning to the role in 2010. It is up on the IMDB with a message of the script is being rewritten. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0293429/ I don't know why but I think one of my favorite lines for MK 1 was "Your soul is mine!" which I still find myself sometimes saying today. It was just so catchy.
Utada Hikaru is a great singer to me. Not everyone is going to like one singer ever though and her fan base is in Japan but there are probably people there who don't like her as well. I can say I don't like most country music singers of today but I wouldn't want to wish them jump off a cliff. Some people though are very vocal on how they feel about people they can't stand and feel are over emphasized and glamorized for skill they don't see. We just have to assume they are speaking in those terms and not actually serious that they would mean such a thing...though a few now and then probably do.
He did try to use Riku but Riku refused seeing he was too vengeful and that Riku's goals were different. Riku just wanted to get Sora back to where he belonged, protect Kairi, stop Axel from his plan and also he talked to Namine and Axel understanding their plight. He didn't agree to DiZ's assessments on what was to be done all the way and felt sympathy to Roxas as well. You are right that DiZ did have plans for vengeance but it seemed according to the Ansem Reports that Riku opened his eyes by his own sacrifices and steadfast nature throughout everything. He apologized for seeking vengeance which consumed him for a long time and thanked Riku for helping make him see. However, DiZ, as you said, never did really carry out any of the plans he had for vengeance by the time he could have. He had a change of Heart and also just went to do what he felt was right. So DiZ had plans but never carried them out. He can't be responsible then for doing anything to Sora because as Pika said, Sora never even met DiZ. Also, there is nothing to show that in the times he was in the capsule, DiZ did anything obscure. I'd be sure that Namine and Riku would have watched like a hawk as Riku did not entirely trust DiZ either.
Hmm...I could see a gigantic storm/hurricane happening but doubt there would be an Ice Age that soon because of such a thing. This film is kind of grossly over exaggerated in the effects of such things but it makes for a great movie with the threat of nature. These natural massive disasters always seem entertaining because it's the old fight for existence scenario. As it is, the ice caps are receding, not increasing, and we are moving out of an interglacial period naturally, albeit I do believe we humans are kind of encouraging it along much faster than it would be were we not adding a lot of CO2 to the atmosphere. CO2 is the real culprit of the greenhouse effect being as bad as it is and we release emissions constantly with it and also need more trees and such to take it in naturally. The CO2 is the reason why the icecaps are melting and if we don't lower it, some predict in the next few decades even, it may be too late to turn back what has been done. The additional water is going to cause worse storms. I don't really see that this could happen though so dramatically as the movie depicts but it would be ugly...though we will have some effects as time goes on because of the actual period we are entering.
Other people have dissected your rude comments and saying you hate Atheists with a passion. Who are you to judge us? You are one of those people that must happen to think Atheists do not have morals and care for other people and without some divine presence will just run a muck doing whatever. You are very wrong. We have -at least- the hearts of Christians with not nearly so much blood on our historical hands as Christians do. The high majority of us care for people, do genuine compassionate deeds without the need to pass on the 'good word' as part of it and take time to help others because we really care and not because some book guides us to do so. We don't pray. Instead we go out and do things to make a difference. We believe in order and equality for all people and most of the time we are the least prejudiced against women, races, ethnics and we do not believe in 'sins'. Instead we believe in the fact of law and protections of all human beings and to deal with those that harm others more fairly and justly. Why? Because we -care-. You judge us wrong and don't even pay attention to your own religion of not judging thine fellow man because you are -not- God. The perfect example of a zealot who misses the point. A true rebel? This cracks me up. I am sorry but you are NOT original at all when 80% of the U.S. alone believes in Christianity. Atheists are a very small number of Americans. There are some more Atheists in European countries but still the minority. If you are a -seeker of truth- one thing you should realize is that we all only have so much evidence to go on either way. If you believe in God, which obviously you do if we take your posts seriously, that is the direction your path takes you, along with the majority of people around the world. You are not thinking outside the box. Also, I don't see that you can use mathematics against any of us anymore than we can use it against you. Mathematics isn't a religion and scientists debate over many issues with some support from math and also history that constantly tries to be 'rewritten' and altered to fit the needs of religion of the 'winners'. For those of us who seek the truth, we do heavy research and don't read just one book to validate which path we will go. I suggest going outside the box and checking out other things. Heck, even reading about other religions would be a good idea. A true -seeker of truth- researches many things including religions, philosophies, sciences, histories and spiritualities. Most atheists have done the work of studying several cultures and are very educated. So are many Christians that aren't fundamentalists and say before learning other things that this is the -one- thing they want to devote their lives to. To an Atheist there is no God as Christians say there is. It is a disagreement and why is it such a big deal? You believe in God. Good for you. An Atheist believes that there is no God until there is real proof it exists since there is evidence to support the contrary. Good for them. There are more qualities to ANY person than just their religious beliefs. There always will be. I suggest to stop your growing hate of people for a simple belief that you look for other things that make the person who he or she is. This is a serious hatred you've got going on and Atheists haven't done anything to you anymore than some Christians have done to me. And I can tell you that some of the things some Christians had done is one of the reasons I quit believing in it and motivated me to research whether that was what I wanted to be classed as or not. This is not to say I would hate Christian people or Atheists do. Most of us are fine with our Christian friends and others of any religious beliefs as long as they are not seeking to harm someone else. Religious beliefs or the lack there of do not make a person good or bad. They are merely a part of a person's thought processes and help guide a person to do things. Please do open your mind and care more for -people- instead of just hating people for what is going on in their heads. You do realize that most criminals in the U.S. at least were raised Christian, right? Also, you do realize that many criminals 'find God' in prison again and come out after being liberated by Christian fundamentalists to only do the crimes again, right? Most Atheists are highly educated, whether having attended college or not and we do not waste our times going out to 'rebel' and be little brats. We also tend to spell and speak with a tone that is a lot more neutral and correct. Also, who are you to tell us what we can and cannot do? A rebel does not make someone ignorant and stupid...and I am an Atheist so you are wrong on what Atheists label as 'rebel'. You are very prejudiced and perhaps should try to get to know us more and who we really are instead of making judgments before you sit at a table with us, or on the internet. It is amusing you say you are not looking for a religious battle and yet you come on here saying you outright hate Atheists and call us stupid and ignorant. No one should be judged on a religious belief or lack there of to ascertain someone's intelligence. To do so clearly shows prejudice and you do know what that means, don't you? Prejudice means you have an opinion or judgment of a being without proper examination. It means that you base opinions that are different from your own as wrong and yet you have no basis or ground or sufficient knowledge. I certainly am not going to say anyone because of a religious belief is stupid. You should do some research since this -is- Intelligent Discussion before making open blanketed statements of ignorance. Then you will be a lot more appreciated not because you are Christian but because you are intelligent. Why are you playing the religious 'martyr' card when Christians are the DOMINANT religion in the world and surpass Atheists by far? I cannot believe you tossed that out. You are not a rebel. You are not something special for your beliefs. You are not on the bottom of the totem pole for your thoughts. If you ever want respect here you will not do that ever again. Also, declaring you will 'harm' people is laughable as this is the internet. Even in real life you would get your butt kicked. I suggest you learn to stop the hatred and bias you have going on and grow up. You aren't a stupid religious newb, as you said. You are being ignorant, prejudiced and closed minded. Many Christians here are much more open minded. I wouldn't toss you in the lot with them and certainly don't consider them stupid religious newbs. In closing, if you want respect, you have to do what every other one of us has done and -earn it-. If you make PREJUDICED statements, expect them to be ripped apart, analyzed and spoken against. Prejudice is not Intelligent Discussion. It is a lack thereof and reveals itself as an ugly little thing that we all must work on. If I made a prejudiced statement, I'd want someone to point it out to me so I could see it and become a better, more intellectual person. We are supposed to get something from conversing with one another; not just yell out people are stupid and run off waving flags around because we made a flame post about a certain group and feel we are a minority waving around martyr cards. Also, I have read the Bible 5 times through and also picked it apart and recall many of the quotes from the Bible with ease. Many Atheists have read the Bible to learn and study and many of us started out as Christians by rearing. We made a choice and it was an educated one not just done out of rebelling. If you don't acknowledge that, why should I acknowledge someone who's read the Bible 90% of the way through and calls himself a Christian? Any way, I wish you peace and hope you open your mind a bit more to the differences of others. You don't have to believe in what Atheists do, of course. I do not have to believe in Christianity of course. However, we are people and we should treat each other as such. Peace be with you.
Thought I'd finish off the answer since Destiny's Force explained KH2 and CoM so here's KH. Megalixers in KH Megalixers are synthesized by using 5 Bright Shards, 3 Bright Gems, 1 Bright Crystal, 1 Shiny Crystal and 2 Gales. In Wonderland - you can obtain one if you go to the rabbit hole and fight some enemies after defeating the Crank Tower. The first time you fight them a chime will sound and a treasure box with a mega-potion appears. Then return to Wonderland after Hollow Bastion is defeated and fight the enemies again to get a chime and another box with a Megalixir in it. You can also find 1 if you set the clock tower at Neverland to 12 o'clock. There's a megalixir in Agrabah at the same room as Dalmations 37,38,39 and there's a Save spot there. There are 2 megalixirs in Monstro. There is a megalixir in Hollow Bastion on one of the ice platforms you jump on at the beginning of the world. At the End of the World there are 5 megalixirs about. There are two pretty well at the beginning of it as you travel through the clouds area. Another one is the machine in the lab, there is a megalixir there in that room. The last one is in the area before going to Traverse Town around the pink door. Elixirs in KH Synthesis: 2 Blaze shards, 2 Frost Shards, 2 Thunder Shards and 4 Mythril Shards. Halloween Town - in the gray pumpkin's mouth there is an elixir in one of the boxes. In the other box is Dalmatians 71,72,73. There's an elixir in that Cave of Wonders first area I think. There's another one in the room past that where the giant balls roll around on a ledge area. There are 3 elixirs in Atlantica. Two I am sure are in the area where you swim out past the save point (not the one in King Triton's area). There is one elixir in Hollow Bastion and there are quite a few other things in the same room which is the library. Some Heartless such as the Battleship, Defender, Fat Bandit (after Hollow Bastion), Invisible, Rare Truffle (juggling him 10 times), Shadow Sora and Wyvern all have a percentage chance of giving up elixirs.
lol, that's just hilarious. I'm just going to let that post go because I am cracking up at the last 3 posts combined. Good stuff.
Hmm, I hate to be the black sheep of the group but I will not be supporting this day though I do support anyone of 'difference' from what people class as normal. The only way I could stay silent for a day is to not go to school or work and just sit at home and do nothing, which is awfully boring. Also, I disagree with the decision to make a day of silence about it because there will be now people who will wear rainbow colors and declare their sexuality or support of such but no one can say things, so expression is tolerated but words are not. I think to make the situation feasible is to actually discuss the case on either side of the fence or resolutions don't happen; not to silence people who are against or for the right to be with either gender etc. Peace never happens through not addressing the issue and coming to terms with it. That's of course not to say that I agree with bullying etc and I personally have never done so and am more the person to tell people to open minds and learn tolerance because whether they hate it or not, gay behavior is seen in the animal kingdom as well as our own human kind and it's not going to go away. Instead it would be forced underground and 'in the closet' as it had been formerly. Silence just seems not the way to address it as one side was already silenced and now they expect the other side to be. It just doesn't seem that 'bullies' or those against gays are going to learn anything from this at all. Sorry if that offends anyone. I would always speak out against injustices but some things I just can't see as logical. That being said, I do of course not like that someone would die for a sexual behavior preference that I cannot find deviant from nature itself. I will on the day express things about the kid who was killed when I research it more and listen to those who say things for or against such a tragedy and gladly debate with someone who would insult it and say something to the effect of 'he deserved it'. I want to hear the voices and debate rather than everyone shut up and wear colors.
You are all welcome and thanks for the compliments. *blush* These things do get around and I recalled emails in the past or warnings people would come up with about scares in this manner so that's pretty well all that cued me in to check was intuition. I guess anything that sounds too 'fantastic' or 'horrible' I will look up just to make sure because otherwise I would be going to the gas station and checking out pump handles religiously. I hate living a life of fear, if you get what I mean. These people who do these kinds of things are low lives and I suppose the only thing we can do is research and hope we can dismiss these. Thanks again for saying the things you did. Makes me even more happy to have done the work because it was so well received. =:) As for the purpose of these sorts of things, back in the 80s and 90s AIDS was a big fear people had. When someone was diagnosed with AIDS these people were ostracized a lot even after we learned that people could only get it from exchanging fluids, bad needles being shared and sexual intercourse. If someone had actually come out with this in the 80s or 90s the effects might have been worse and harder to dismiss. In the end some people just like to mess with people's fears and see how they will react for a laugh.
You are right that most abortions do happen in the early period of conception to a month during pregnancy. I think what people often find most disturbing and I do agree with them is the women who get abortions later in pregnancy during the last trimester when sometimes a baby could actually survive outside of the womb with some medical assistance. Having been born over a month prior to 9 months, I do kind of see why it is disturbing unless there is some medical reason as to why to terminate a pregnancy. The images people get set in their heads on why abortion is so nasty is because of some of the pictures taken of aborted fetuses in their last trimester and if a woman doesn't know by then that she wants to abort...I don't see why unless there is some nasty medical condition that is a danger to the woman or child. I think this is kind of where things become murky for me and I do kind of lose respect for the woman who does it then because then I would consider it a life after what happened to me and my twin being born early. However, as you pointed out, most abortions happen in the early first trimester and this I do not disagree with. Also, most stem cell research is done on the early fetuses too because of cells that are not yet assigned to functions in a fetus to study. This I consider the right of women to choose regardless of the reason.
