I will say straight off that I don't believe in the 'Blank Slate' theory that kids are born with no instincts or behaviors that will be noted. I've worked around kids in day care part time and some other situations where I've babysat kids and examinations also in college just show different.

So, having said that, I believe we come equipped with some things on social behavior and empathy. Meaning people who care about each other aren't going to just hurt each other and if someone is hurt by someone else, it makes others scared or angry. Also people do tend to learn to share to get more advantages etc. Some things I just feel are instinctive and there but of course need honed and made more apparent for what reasons they exist in the first place.

Other things, I think it takes the environment and adults to instill in children. Children aren't going to come equipped with religion but instead are curious by nature. Lessons of morals such as don't lie, steal, murder etc may also be passed down by adults for reasons that obviously it can get kids hurt to not know these. I think the morals then are laid out to kids to accept, as well as religions in many children's cases. Also, such things as how to act like a 'gentleman' or 'lady', how to act mannerly in society etc, these are taught. Humans though do have a great gift of mirroring others so some lessons aren't as hard as others. We are very impressionable, especially at young ages.

However, as the child ages and can think more for himself/herself, this is when the thinking begins and those things learned are questioned and evaluated. This is also when things become more 'core beliefs' to a person and they continue on after you grow up. These core beliefs too may change with enough evidence and if a person is willing to contest it.
i.e. racial issues, sexuality issues, religious issues, philosophical quandaries, education and how important it is, whether lying -all the time- is bad, or is there a place and time when killing is justified or not.
These are things that children start thinking on and as teenagers and adults it becomes more prominent. I know my own core beliefs have changed throughout my life probably since I was about 9 years old and through the teenage years to becoming an adult that now goes to college. I expect other things will be tested and my views will continue now and then to be modified or altered.

However, people also, as they age, become more stubborn and stuck in their ways if they allow themselves to close their minds. So in some adults, things are just the way they are because they are that way. Our core beliefs often are what people relate to who they absolutely are, so there is always a fight to change something that we value inside ourselves. Even those with an open mind to many things have to face that and it is life altering when a core belief shifts. I hope this made sense. But yes, I do believe a person's core beliefs can be shifted but the experience will alter the way that person thinks from that time on and change their personality even. Sometimes this is a good thing and other times it is not. Usually changes in core beliefs happen through traumatic experiences or something is just so revealing and out there that the person has a revelation and just feels compelled that the move is the right thing to do.

So, I believe in instinctive core personalities and traits we are 'wired' with, but core beliefs in themselves I think are honed and taught and can be altered throughout life if a person wills it so.

Not to be a party pooper here...but couldn't you help your mother around the house more instead of that if you are under 16? I used to have to do chores around the house. Also, she's your parent. Parents do have some responsibilities for their kids, including getting them educated. Of course, being a junior, you may be 16 then so it wouldn't matter. But just wanted to point out the flaw here if you thought kids should be driving under 16.

Roxas wasn't picked on that bad. Poor Roxas.... he got picked on by some guy that lost his homeworld, was betrayed by the people now who head the Organization and that group is doing rotten things to others. Not only that but Ansem's name was used miserably, his utter reputation and all smeared, his life unwritten before him and the Heartless went to droves of planets causing tons of harm.

I'm sorry but poor Roxas being 'picked on' and going back to Sora, which he should since he came from him... is a lot less of a horrible thing than what the Organization did. Yes, I feel bad for Roxas and all, but when people say he wanted revenge on the Org and how could he... his life and other people's were destroyed by it. Also, he has a Heart. It was torn and hurt. He realized the errors of seeking revenge. He also messed with Riku in CoM and tried to get him to fight in a disguise of Heartless Ansem/Xehanort, and said some rotten things to him too, but in the end, after understanding the man's story, I don't see why he doesn't get any more sympathy. He didn't ask for the bad stuff to happen. Whatever 'Xehanort' is, he was a lost remnant with no memory from BBS and Ansem seriously got screwed out of kindness. As I said, he admitted his guilt and wrong doings. The Org would not. As much as I like the Org, I still can like Ansem/DiZ. He was wronged horribly.

    Homophobia

Sure, Bugs Bunny did some transvestite skits but didn't every adult already think it was funny and nutty and hinting at things? Transvestite skits have been done for years and I don't think it makes Bugs Bunny appear gay really as much as it is just funny skits to show how he takes advantage of Elmer Fudd in other ways. It wasn't ever intended to be 'sexual' as if it were the Rocky Horror Picture Show or something.

In the end though, I think you are dealing with the homophobia. Accepting gays doesn't mean that people are going to become gay. It's just saying that their lifestyle is theirs and yours is yours. It really is no big thing and this is what the difficult thing to do is...remove programming taught to us by centuries of hate and intolerance of it. That is why there is homophobia and awkwardness. I will say straight out that I was homophobic in the beginning too for a few years but once I actually met gay people and it became part of my daily life to associate with people who were gay, the fears and stuff went away. Yeah, it's weird talking sex jokes and stuff with them, but I've even learned to get over that awkwardness. It does happen.

Really it also helps people in a way to understand it all and have self-confidence in yourself too and your own 'preferences'. In the end if nothing is wrong that doesn't harm others, such as gay relationships or straight relationships where people are honest, I don't see the negatives. Yeah, so it means sometimes a girl I think is hot happens to be a lesbian, but in the end there could be any other reason a girl wouldn't want to have interest in me either so eh, it's just another thing to toss in there. If a guy did ask me out or something, I know I can now just say 'I don't go that way' and it's cool. It does take a while to get used to it, but this particular phobia can be worked out as long as you look for the truth in life and don't listen to rumors and things those who are afraid or hate say. Gays don't hate straight people. They get upset at those with hate or those who won't accept their lifeway and we of course would get mad too if they started taking away our rights. Some people who are homophobic feel that they are being encroached upon but the reality of the situation is that gay behavior has been around forever and is it better to just pretend it doesn't exist and act shocked when it is uncovered or to just make it an acceptable part of life so that no one, straight or gay, suffers from losses of work, biases, etc? As I said, accepting it doesn't mean people are going to be gay. It just means you realize it's out there and that's just how it is. It seems you are working things out so keep with it and hold your head up.

People mistake the word homophobia for being anti-gay. It's the same as if someone says something bad about the Israel/Palestinian issue that person is accused of being anti-semitic. Some things are just taken more seriously than they are.

However, also understand that the gay movement does try to deal with 'homophobia' by showing people to not be afraid and being out there so that people get adjusted to them and accepting of the fact a gay person sitting next to you somewhere isn't out to destroy your life, give you some contagious thing, isn't going to pedo with your kids and isn't an evil thing. That's what the purpose of the gay parades, Disney World Gay Days etc are really meant for. It's just meant to make people who are homophobic learn there's nothing to fear. So not all gays obviously, with the message implied here, see homophobia as being anti-gay.

Like any fear though, people want to help others to get over it so that it doesn't turn to hate. The problem with some gay events now is that many people do accept it and don't fear it and are tired of seeing gay events happen because who really cares what sexual desires someone has? Many of us are no longer homophobic. However, some people still are, or they are haters. So the movement continues. Probably as long as gay people are forced to commit suicide, are kicked out of their families and disowned etc, this may be an issue.

Just like any other issue we face though, such as racism, there are going to be events to try to spread the word to stop the hate. Hate is the real evil here and often fear leads to hate when enough people who hate drag in others who fear and get them in on the act. Homophobia is a lot easier to deal with than people who hate gays outright. There is a possibility of someone with homophobia accepting gays if in the right circumstances, but there is also the fact that it can go the other way too. It's not that gays hate homophobes. They just want you to see they are people too and you are still safe and they aren't out to take over the world and eliminate straight people etc. There are all sorts of silly irrational fears that go with homophobia that are just not logical in any way.

The same can be said about how some people feel about races. Seeing whites as being wealthy and the oppressors all the time is obviously a stupid thing in this day and age. Seeing all blacks as rebellious haters that are in gangs is obviously a stupid thing. Seeing all Hispanic peoples as illegal immigrants taking jobs away is obviously a stupid thing. However, this is how people who fear and hate think. Fear is a stage before hate and so people of these groups will naturally try to want to deal with these people and show real proof that it's not so darn bad as they think and they've been misled by others who fear and/or hate.

The reason stereotypes and assumptions are so bad right now really comes down to the fact that they have some grounding point, albeit a prejudiced and uneducated one. If someone sees some blacks in a gang, oh my...it's TRUE!!! If someone finds illegal Mexicans working...yep, it's true again! If someone sees some group of white people talking trash to a black person and all, it's true again. So, when someone fears already or has suspicion, those few that do the stupid crimes can make up the opinion of that person to say 'all' people of that clique do that and that's just how it is. The same with gays. Some people have a bad experience and suddenly it's fear or hate the gay people, or they listen to stories made up by others and say they are true for nearly all cases. Some people -want- to fit the stereotypes of what people think are the worst qualities in a certain group. Many others don't. It's the many other people of the groups that are trying to stand up and say 'your opinion is wrong!' And they have every right to do so.

So championing a phobia is a lot harder because you see, these people that stand up and try to say you are wrong and to open your eyes are trying to show you that they are not what you think. That even if you've had a bad experience with some other person or people of their 'classification' they are asking you for a chance. They are asking for acceptance.

You are in a different stage of homophobia. You aren't as bad and though you fear, you also accept them so you aren't necessarily a 'target'. I do think some people here took it a bit far in getting mad at you instead of talking to you about it calmly, but the point they are making is 'what is it you really fear?' Why are you worried about it? People do want you to see here that there's nothing more to fear from a gay person than there is a straight person. You made some comments such as homosexuals are more likely to be pedophiles. This is what people are trying to get you to see. That's a prejudice based on fear and not knowing the facts. Straight men might -wish- that were true but it simply isn't. Since pedophilia is the majority of the time caused by men, and more young girls are the targets of it than boys (though this isn't to say there aren't a good number of male victims too), it goes to say that there obviously must be quite a few straight people that are into it. Homosexuality or Heterosexuality doesn't make someone more likely to want to be around little kids that aren't even thinking about sex yet. But people that fear and hate homosexuals spread this rumor about. This is why phobias are dangerous. They automatically make you prejudiced because you are judging the many people because of a few. Prejudice, by meaning is irrational. So is phobia.

That's not to say -you- are irrational. We all have our points of not being logical. No one can be perfect and devoid of bias. It's hard for some people to have much sympathy for someone who is afraid and yet in the majority because they ask 'what's he got to be afraid of?' and also they do see it as a phobia, which as I said, there's no way to just say it's founded to have a fear of an entire group of people because of some bad instances and/or rumors. The gay movement though is one of the most peaceful movements ever truthfully even if at times it gets annoying to see displays by gays or straight people that shame either side. Looking through history, despite some losses of life here and there, the movement to have gay parades, wear colors etc has been peaceful on their parts and also peaceful on the side of straight people who aren't out destroying them. It's a milestone of improvement in Europe and America and shows maybe we are dealing with things better than in the past. Of course we have work to do to get better, but it's better than the attempts to free women and accept them as equals, free blacks and see them as equals, etc.

    Homophobia

You are right that some people do later change but I am not sure if that wouldn't have made them bisexual all along instead of straight out homosexual. Then again, hormones can change during life and also sometimes people hate something when they are younger but later they don't, so yes, it is one of those things of quandary to ponder.

I wasn't really slamming on your post. A couple things I wanted to counter and some others to explain more because I did think you were saying things similar but the wording was what was getting some countering so I decided to analyze it deeper. Thanks for responding to it.

A few people do change such as an aunt of a friend I have who was a lesbian for years but then later in her 50s decided to get married to a straight guy and is happy. So, knowing that, it does make you wonder if people can just 'choose'. I think though in her case and some others, it's an actual change in the person and I don't think gay behavior derives really from an environment since as I said, it's been going on forever even when at times it was very harshly condemned and persecuted. People still are raised in some places to hate homosexuality which is why some people commit suicide; because it is something in them they don't feel they can fight and yet it is a sin. Also, losing your family and being ostracized is certainly a weighty issue on the person. I would think with all of that over a person, which has been there for hundreds of years, that being gay could not just be an environmental issue but an internal one.

I think playing as Sora, Riku and Kairi would be cool for some change ups. Anotherr idea at times would be on worlds to let you have the option of switching to other characters amidst battle to see what they are capable of like say you are in Agrabah, you could also switch to alternate party member Aladdin or something.

We do need morals in society to exist and get along. That isn't a religious thing. That's a living thing that helps us to help ourselves and others around us and not be rotten people. It is an advantage to have them and makes us usually feel better about ourselves that we do. Unless, Darkwatch, morals mean something else to you than being concerned with the good and bad people can do and teaching people how to be the most progressive and positive instead of destructive, of course. That's what morals mean to me and I think they are rather imperative and too many parents aren't teaching such things which leads to a lot of animosity.

Of course some morals aren't needed which don't really do anything to help humanity etc. I.e. I don't consider half of the 10 Commandments to be morals. The other half, I would and they make commonsense. To not cheat, steal, kill, assault, bully, abuse and such like that are good concepts that help any society really and also the individuals. So, though my morals that I think should be mandated by law are not so huge, I do see some are needed as a base to successful peace, contentment and prosperity.

Well, as someone else suggested, maybe ask if you can have the day off from school or see if a parent could pick you up? Either that or get out of school as you can and avoid him because he may have forgotten and if he did remember if you stick with other people, I doubt he'll do anything as he could get in serious trouble because you'd have witnesses.
