That is what I was pointing out. Vaccines are normally dormant/near dead viruses etc that the body is given to build antibodies against. However, if a virus mutates enough, whether vaccinated or not, people are going to have a great chance of being infected. It's not going to matter either way. Antibiotics however are adding to the body's defenses but people are immunizing to them so it's in the end not helping if we get immune to 'treatments' themselves when we just have simple colds or flus that could heal naturally. I'd consider this worse in medical practice to do because if someone is afflicted strongly with something bad and has had a life of going to the doctor for antibiotics, they will prove totally ineffective at a crucial moment that could decide life or death.
Curry is delicious! I especially love to make curry chicken and noodles. I don't find it that hot but it is spicy and just adds a unique flavor to food.
I actually think a worse problem than vaccines etc would be the fact that doctors give out antibiotics to people so regularly for colds and flus when for one they won't even work at all and for the other, if it's not a critical flu, let the people get over it. Quite a few people are becoming immune to antibiotics so it shows our immune systems are still doing their jobs in some ways. So when a 'serious' condition comes along, those antibiotics that people take like candy for every scratchy throat, runny nose etc are just not going to be there. The vaccinations we have save lives in the present as Zandyne said. Antibiotics used even when doctors think they won't work is more of an issue but yet it's become integrated into society that if you are sick you must be made well as soon as possible so that you can go to work. Work places expect that colds and flus will only take people out of work a day without an excuse, and if you are sick for 2 or more days, you -MUST- go to a doctor and so medicine is kicked out that can be rather useless. If you don't go to the doctor, you can get fired. Colds and flus can last a few days to two weeks fought normally but once you are over them, the chances of getting that same affliction again is much less. So, I'd consider that worse because when help could be there it won't since people have higher tolerance to the actual treatments.
Yeah, that's where it was. I knew it was at the end but couldn't place it exactly. You just have to click on him after everyone is just standing around there and he calls it Soul Eater despite it is Way to the Dawn at that point. Thanks for finding the exact area. :)
Terra most likely is not at all related to Zack in any way, and Nomura probably did just like the design of the character and used some inspiration for Terra. FF characters are purely cameos and hold roles but what their importance is to the main characters is going to be rather dim. They aren't 'critical' to the storyline in any real way and I don't see Nomura connecting them any more than Axel and Reno are connected which is just by inspiration alone. There is no real link to them other than appearance and possibly demeanor. I'm going to move this though to the BBS section as it fits better there.
I do agree that females shouldn't all have to be posed as fighting characters with weapons etc and also think that for male characters too, to being cast in a lead role. However, the problem here is that most of Nomura's girls he designs are copies of the same genre type which simply is 'white mage or some powerful light entity that holds secret powers, giggles a lot, can't hit a target for much etc. I was fine with it with Aerith because that was just how her character was, but even though she was not a physical character, she had a willpower and wasn't a complete wuss. Even Rinoa had a willpower even though she falls in the category and gets kidnapped, of course. Then there's Princess Garnet in the lead female role who goes emo and you can't do anything with her at points because she can't 'concentrate'. Then we have Yuna who starts off that way and I won't go into the other FFX-2 girls because really their personalities were irritating to me. Kairi just fits the bill of a past series of girls in FF that individually we may have been able to stomach or even 'like' to some degree. You are also right that some females, no matter how they dress, act etc get picked on. It is something we need to pay more attention to, but I do feel in Kairi's case, we have a right to be upset and disappointed. The problem is that she's a carbon copy of the formula he uses for main character females but until KH2, she showed no backbone and then she's even bordering on cocky like she can handle it all but all she did was beat up on Shadows. She has the secret light creative powers that was used to bring Sora home and also to change Sora back, but in the end she still doesn't have much defined personality other than giggle innocent girl that is Sora's love interest and Riku's friend and who doesn't want to get left behind. So, while I agree with you that women could be made to appear strong and yet not do 'warrior tactics' and be the next Alice in Resident Evil sort of deal, it would be nice if Kairi just had more personality as she's being seen as 'perfect and perfectly girly' all around. I can't think of a better word to use than 'girly' and know it's a bad word to point out because I certainly don't expect her to act like a 'man' but I also would have hoped she'd act more 'womanly' with flaws and well -at least- on par to what Disney Princesses have shown. Her only 'flaws' that I can pinpoint is that she did kind of shun Riku at points when he had already determined he was going to make Sora pay attention and any competition between him and Sora was pretty much done with in 'seriousness' in the beginning of KH. Namine was exactly the same to Riku Replica though he was -forced- to care about her and react as he did by her powers and she couldn't even give the kid an apology. Sora did it for her. That's the Mary Sue condition. When guys have to cover for girls, when a girl becomes co-dependent and has no other personality but needing to be saved, the love interest of some guy and has to be 'carried' through a story by the acts of others. She has some potential but the deal is Kairi shouldn't have been portrayed as one of the 3 main characters of the story if she can't do anything on her own. In a way females should be happy even guys see the misuse of the personality of some of these female characters in video games. Most of the fans of the series would love to see Kairi do more and BE one of the main characters. Olette had more personality than Kairi and as she showed she was pretty cognitive and also determined to get tasks done, no one would have expected her to have to pick up weapons and be as keen as Roxas was if she could have. Strength comes in a number of fashions but Kairi having a mysterious power as a Princess of Heart really doesn't save her. Her personality is what could get people to love or hate her. All we've seen her be is little delicate girl with a 'pure' Heart that can do very little wrong and she's just not human to understand. There are many female characters that could use an overhaul on personality. I think using other examples though from other video games and anime seems to be causing friction on the debate because it kicks up opinions and also some fanboy/girlism. There are a ton of females in video games cast as banal support characters that need saving but people just aren't going to agree on who those are. Your last line though says it all. This is what some of us hope will happen with Kairi and basically with some other females in games too. Kairi looks great albeit the dress she wore in KH2 was lame for the 'stunts' she was pulling like jumping off the balcony. She is amiable and benevolent. She's cute and the two boys clearly care about her a lot. Now, we just need to see more of her personality to know her. After two games though, some people have already given up and it will take some incredible writing to breathe character life into her and make her 3 dimensional and more 'real'. And we see here that men get hit with some sort of Mary Sue syndrome too though in the male way. The guilt over Aerith's death, not really appreciating Tifa until she's found wounded, blah blah. Cloud had reasons in FF VII to be upset but in AC he went right back to emo-state. Cloud is cool but his AC emoness really was kind of annoying. Again though you close it well with saying you don't want to be biased but don't want to be disappointed either. I agree with that too. The only point is though after 2 games (for me 3 because I count Namine in there too with some acts that were undoubtedly inspired from Kairi) and people are already opinionated so it's going to take some serious effort to make her better for those people to care now.
This topic is being closed as there are is a thread aready here on it. We don't know yet when it's being released but please try to post in threads that already exist if you want to ask a question that is already here.
Do you have an air can to spray that off? You may even be able to get a q-tip with some alcohol and run it over it lightly and let it dry and try the card again. The problem could be as simple as the card is dirty and one of these or both methods should work to help get it better. If it doesn't, I'd check if it has a warranty because it could be busted.
Very well done. I was laughing. I seem to be rather bipolar at moments shifting from one mood to the next. I have such a god complex! I hope you continue it because I want to see how the other characters turn out as well. Maybe Light Repliku stares at their avatars. >.>
I just read this on CNN and kind of found it to be disturbing. I really do not see at all why Evangelical Protestant Christian leaders like this who are fanatics that twist and pervert the Bible constantly and also run lobbies and act more like corporation heads than religious leaders inspiring people...are saying anyone else who actually knows the Bible is wrong. The point here to me is that Obama is actually right whether people want to overlook the parts in the Bible he mentions or not. Many Christians know after actually -reading- the Bible that some things definitely should not be taken at face value and read like it is the law, especially in this day and age. I can actually dig out the exact quotes that Obama is referring to and there is all sorts of murder, rape, slavery, child murder, and just well...all sorts of rules about what is a 'clean food' and not clean to eat etc. What Obama is saying here is also what the founding fathers of our country were saying too...that the Bible cannot be taken literally and should not be used in government and public policy. They are out of date things done in a time that is much different than our own and written by men of the culture then. Should people think of taking the Bible 'literally' as it is meant for the tiime it was written to be taken? if so, we might as well now put Hitler to shame because we'd be back in the Dark Ages but now with super technology to enforce the extinction of disbelievers, attacks on those who won't do the country's will and thus not God's will, kill in the name of God, put women to be subservient to men and not wear 'men's clothing', tell slaves that they should accept the lives they have because if they don't do what they should they won't go to Heaven, etc. I'm curious as to what the thoughts of others are, whether Christian or not, if you've actually sat and read the Bible and know what I am referring to, what are your thoughts on this?
OOC: The novel isn't exactly 'canon' though some parts can be taken that way to fill in gaps. I'd consider the fact that Phil was on the ground and pretty dizzy etc enough to say that they did hit him hard enough to knock him out cold because that -was- in the game even if we didn't see the act. However, that was the only incident also of him being attacked. I'm not sure why it's being said there are two attacks exactly. There was just one which is that scene, unless someone is recalling another scene I am forgetting. Sora hoped that he had done well enough because he really couldn't call on much more for memory of what occurred. He probably didn't 'frame' Demyx as well as Pika had hoped but Sora really wasn't sure, other than being a weird guy who acted afraid, then angry, then declaring people were rude or obnoxious to him...then being a rock star...then attacking...he didn't really feel Demyx was nearly as bad as others in the Organization had been. He just seemed to be a follower that just perhaps wanted out of his situation but never was going to admit it fully. Sora studied Namine a bit and then looked back at Pika waiting to see if he was going to lose his top or not. Maybe Sora should be quiet...yeah, that was a good idea. He made a mental thought of him zipping his lips and just sat there awaiting the reaction. He knew Demyx was wrong to do what he did but at the same time he was not going to make the guy's crimes worse. He also wasn't going to just say to the Defense that they were less either but the defense seemed to hate him any way and harbor some weird animosity to him which he surmised probably came in because they were defending the Organization. He of course couldn't make people like him so their opinions were their own but he doubted he'd be up here very long and Demyx was next.
The kitten is so adorable. ^_^ He/she (not sure which gender heh) looks really happy to be planted on that blanket with sea critters on it.
Yep, I'm sure. He says it towards the end of the game when Sora has to make his choice to go on and fight Xemnas or not on I think the Alter of Naught. He doesn't say it aloud though. You click on him to read his response while you lurk there.
That's about how I'd rate it too. I really didn't care for the game or FFX for that matter. I hope FF XIII and the other game that is parallel with it are much better because the new FF games are just disappointing me.
I thought FFX was incredibly easy without cheating. I don't see why with cheats you couldn't finish the game. It's really a very linear and simple game once you know how to use the sphere system well enough. If you can defeat the game easy without cheats, then with cheats you can get all the stuff you have to get otherwise through labor so...eh.
Hopefully in the 'with you' because this whole scene is hilarious for some reason. Sora's so ..Sora and Pika is so Pika. It makes for an amusing combination of humor. IC: "How I remember it...When Hercules came back he told us the stone was gone...but before that, Phil ran off and wouldn't tell us where he was going. Well after Hercules told us we all found Phil on the ground by the door to the Underworld and that's where he had been attacked. I don't remember another time." (player doesn't and i played through the videos. I may have to get out the game because neither the script or the videos here show it...) Sora smiled hopelessly and apologetically. "Sorry?" "They circled around and there was a timing to have to defeat them before or else I'd go out cold." "Jiminy wasn't hurt if that's what you mean. He usually can keep himself out of harm's way and unless I had actually gone down, he was pretty safe." Sora scratched his head. "Um..okay." Riku crossed his eyes at Sora and grinned funny...then stopped before others might take notice really, though those by Sora might have seen. Sora pouted. "Hey!" He then looked around and cleared his throat. "Ahem" Sora wasn't sure what to say here. He scratched his head and had this really difficult thinking expression donned on his face. He then sighed and replied probably to the chagrin of the Pokemon..."He was going to attack at that point whether I did or not. However, like I said, I wasn't running either."
* prevents kitty the Apocalypse* I think I'm that good. I feel a 'get in mah belleh' joke coming on here.
Yay, a picture reminded someone of me...boy...I talk a lot. >.>
Ok, guys, I wanted to post this to you all so you could read it and make sure we're all on the same page here. We've got to keep spam down in this area. So keep with what you all are doing who are doing things right and those who may not have known, the rules for this area are posted and stickied in the General Discussion area if you want to read the other rules regarding just what spam is etc. For those who are doing the right thing, sorry for the 'reminders' and disruption here...and all in all, carry on and keep the pictures and the good times rolin'. If any of you have questions about this, feel free to PM me and I'll be happy to help you out.
This was pretty lame but it is like other fanatical Christian programs that are designed to make children fear. I'm not sure why some people thought the video is about making kids 'like' Satan, because it seems pretty obvious to me it was about resisting the temptation of Satan instead and that though doing bad things seems fun, and you are tempted to it...in the end it's very bad and you should fear it. That's what it meant to me. There are a lot of things made like this to scare children and make them fear and well, learn who Satan is and that he's a scary being but one who lures people into false securities and into doing things against God and others etc. Most Christians wouldn't dream of subjecting their kids to such a thing and well, since I'm not Christian I find it even more appalling perhaps. But some people want it drilled into a kid's head so these are the kinds of ridiculous propaganda and all that evolves.
