An easier thing to do is to go on to Youtube and get the addys for illegal material, look at the info there and see how many 'views' the place has for lawsuit. Youtube has done crack downs on these things and quite a few videos get deleted by their staff. So Viacom is trying to shorten their workload and tough luck on them to prove their case. They are just being lazy and have no rights to our IPs at all. They can see the number of views ANY video on there gets and so don't need to do it this way.
Sadly people who are very fanatically religious have attacked others on this site for beliefs and said some pretty rotten things. Of course, many of them were banned or left the discussion area after warnings. Also, you have to understand that people -do- get treated very poorly for not being of a certain religion. When the President of the U.S. says that Atheists should not be considered true citizens of the U.S...there's a problem. There is also a hideous uprising of Evangelical 'born again' sorts that are doing things like Jesus Camps (i.e. the Ted Haggard sort, not Christian summer camps in general) and Bush has had advice from these people. All through school I remember getting harassed because I didn't buy into what my mother was forcing me to follow and it caused strain at home and it does hurt for other kids to tell you that you are going to Hell because you don't believe. These are -real- things that happen to those who are considered 'outsiders'. So yes, Bunterx is being adamant against certain things, but at the same time, understand that hatred stems from theists abusing others for many many years. When even Christian groups and Islamic groups war over what is the true religion and murder or banish those who aren't a part of their scheme of things, ostracize them or say things like they are 2nd class citizens and store people of different beliefs in areas that are very poor, there is a problem to pay attention to. Religion by fundies has sank down to some crimes they do as being 'accepted' by followers who are not so mean or judgmental. This is one of the reasons I think though a class like this would be good. It makes it so fanatical devotees of ANY religion or lack there of a religion do not have the super influence on people who simply just want to have their own core beliefs whether it's Christianity, Islam, Atheism, Agnostic, Buddhist, Wiccan, Hindu or whatever else out there. The hate does need to stop and integration and acceptance of different cultures seems paramount to me to make prejudice stop. The only way to stop prejudice is to bring in that cultural mix we have and teach tolerance and understanding and to use logic against superimposed idiocy and flawed opinion. I hope that makes sense because yes, hatred is a very living thing preached to students in droves now and adults have a lot of bias that they carry with them. I could tell horror stories of my experience with fanatical religious nuts. The sad thing is the regular folks aren't -stopping- them and they get protected too much. However, I really didn't open this to 'debate' religion in itself. I wanted to know the thoughts of you guys on whether you would be interested in attending something were it an option at your schools and what reasons you would or not. I wanted to know if I was alone really on thinking that the best way to help get over the religious hump and bias people have as well as give kids more freedom and rights to be who they want, was a religious class like I have taken in college. The class was -very- refreshing to me and we had people of all faiths or lack there of in there and it was so open and really rather peaceful. We all walked out of the class feeling we had learned a lot. So, if you guys could, let's not 'fight' about religion and bash each other. It kind of refutes the point of the question....or to me, proves why such a thing could be beneficial.
The favorite 'things' threads go to Spam Zone, so since it just started I'm going to close this thread. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
I get what is meant and yes, as an Atheist and also having explored Buddhism and Daoism, I have been called a satanist or yelled at that I'm going to hell too. It is very frustrating. I've explored about everything out there and I think, despite not believing in any religion, it's made me a better person so that I do know what people are talking about, etc. There are certain groups of people that annoy me but I don't just condemn a ton of people for beliefs because I have learned about them more and can now judge better. I suppose though that is one of the reasons I'd want this class taught though. Aren't people kind of sick of being mocked for their personal choice in whether they believe in -any- religion or not? Teens are expected to be mature enough to drive at 16. They can get work at 16. They can also choose to have relationships at 16 (though some have them earlier of course) and people accept it most if at 16 they choose to date etc. At 18 they can choose to vote and work full time etc. Some kids, whether religious or not, get mocked and picked on. I've seen it get so bad that some Christians pick on other Christians and say they aren't 'Christian' enough or out right say they are fake. I've seen Hindu followers, Islamic followers and Buddhists get teased and told they are going to Hell and heard some Islamic followers say the same etc. I do think -all- major religions should be taught in the class, presented basically as it was to me in college which was refreshing. It did not change my religious views, but it did definitely help me to comprehend more and remove stereotypes of various religious followers. It also helped me see why some people choose the religions they do and that still, despite being religious people or having a lack of religion, it showed me that people still are 'people' and we are more than just our religious beliefs. I don't think any one religion in the class should be the 'focal' point religion and they all should be reviewed, and even though Atheism is not a religion, it should also be touched on, as well as Agnostics. It could really broaden people's minds. If it were implemented, I think it should be a voluntary class to attend and not forced, but it would help to dismiss prejudice and let people not only get a taste of what is out there, but also show more detail into the cultures where the religions are strongest. It could help students with history too so they can comprehend the mindsets of some leaders etc we read about. To me, the class would make it so our young don't grow up like some of the baby boomers and older generations that shout out such nonsense about people who don't believe in the same thing going to Hell, etc, or actually stop 'fear' of other beliefs because some people really do get taught and/or feel people aren't 'people' if they don't follow what they do. Also, it gives teens the right to explore their own feelings and all and make them less naive.
Sorry guys, any 'favorite' polls like this do go in Spam Zone. I'll move it there now.
I can see kind of what you are saying, Bunterx, but at the same time I feel it would actually teach students to accept others and have more tolerance of religion or Atheism or core beliefs and also let someone see what else is out there if they do not have a preference but feel 'forced' to believe in something. It can also help people feel their religion is definitely the one for them. So, I think it will have mixed results and as someone said, if they believe in a religion, learning others won't shake their faith really but open up understanding so that the rumor mills about religions stop, or atheism for that matter. It educates people and lets kids have the power to learn, get some acceptance and give it back. Also for those who are agnostic, or feel pressured, it lets them find their feelings more and children would not just be fed one thing and ignorantly say rumors or prejudiced things about other people's beliefs etc.
I'm 55% normal and get my freak on.
OOC: When I saw the judge's decision, I laughed. I'm not mad at all OOC and find it amusing. It was a reasonable thing to do and Harvey has been called on stuff like this before so it's not like he's not used to it! "Repliku sized posts"! I have post types named after me now. Sorry Amber if we intimidated you. I'm sure you'll do great as Demyx so please hang with us here! Harvey wasn't so ecstatic that he was called on a penalty but he could see the reasons why. He sipped some water and would wait for Demyx's testimony now. This is what, of course, they were all waiting for with anticipation any way. Sora did say something to Kairi but someone missed it. However, he was grateful to her for massaging his shoulders and it did help relax him some. "Thanks, Kairi. That did help." Sora was also calming down ironically by the judge's decision to give all the lawyers warnings because he had felt that Demyx's case was going rather more brutal either way than it should. Maybe they could now focus on the truth instead of ripping apart testimonies whether from the Org side or his side. Riku shrugged. "It stopped the debate that was just going in circles. The case here is very heated so sometimes the lawyers need reminded to keep cool themselves so in the end, I see it as fair. They seem more vocal than any of us do really and are two extremes trying to come together to make some justice happen. What's funny about this is that now that we've gone through some of these cases, I think the rest of us aren't so extreme and willing to listen now that we are actually given the chance. We didn't have this option before so it's almost enlightening in a way to hear the sides of us and the Organization. Before, it was a lot of guess work and there were obviously mess ups on both sides. It shows me how stupid miscommunication can be and makes me think more on my actions so that I'm at least understood." Riku was taking everything in. He had before had the unique perspective of watching many of the activities of Sora and also of the Organization. Seeing it come to light here from either side was interesting and showed him that he too didn't get everything though at the same time he perhaps understood it better at the time in the past than Sora, Donald and Goofy had.
The question is one that with all the animosity lately pertaining to religions prompts me to be curious as to the minds of students now. Since there are people who are religious and also not religious, following various religious sorts, I have wondered if a World Religions class in school might be something students might want to take in High School were it an actual option. Since in college it is offered and people enjoy it and get a feel of various religions and beliefs, and also philosophy is taught, I figured it would be a good idea. The idea often gets trashed by politicians and others who are very religious because they don't want a class to teach about 'other' religions than the predominant one, but it is in my feelings that teaching people of religions could help them to better understand other groups. There are divisions in Christianity that people instill and even say are bad. This would also help people understand Islam which is widely debated and called a 'terrorist' belief, and it wouldn't hurt to comprehend Hindu or Buddhism, Wiccan etc either. The way it was presented to me in college as I've taken a few courses in it was that people of the actual beliefs even could present material where books were lacking. So, what are your feelings on it as it would be able to present things like Creationism and other topics that are not really belonging elsewhere and lets the students decide? It would also present a history on the religious beliefs around the world and be truthful touching on various topics.
I have been pondering this meaning too. In reality, the elements are just 'classifications' of things as humans perceive them. Fire wouldn't even be an element because it is caused by combustion of something else. Lightning wouldn't either. And the whole concept of Elements was something used in older times and is rather outdated and pointless. You can literally name tons of elements if you wanted to spend the time such as fire, magma, ice, wind, water, earth, plant, space, nothingness, life, death, heart, soul, etc. Classifying any as elements simply means the person views them as important to his/her work or project at the time. Applying any more meaning to it is kind of pointless. They make for great stories such as Kingdom Hearts.
It's not that ******ed. We have all sorts of words people get offended by and hand gestures to go with. Body language is a part of human language and speech. It's an easy hand gesture and 'profane' so it gets the word across easily when used. Apes make gestures and such to indicate someone is really ticking them off too, without having to go over and just beat the tar out of the being yet. That's what the symbol is like. It makes sense. I did hear it came from the Roman Empire and it would make sense, so I'd back the wiki article. Just, if you think about it, flipping someone off is a lot better than hopping around, fists pumping at the air and making your face turn red etc. It's also fun to get their reactions.
Guys, please write longer than 1 to 4 words. Be descriptive. This is not not the Spam Zone. Your posts are one of the indicators I use as to whether to leave some topics here or not. If you want the posts to count, put some 'Heart' into them. :) Back to the point so I'm not spamming. I would say the Gummi Ship kind of annoyed me badly at moments in KH1 and the way Donald and Goofy would give up potions etc out of control so I'd have nothing soon but my own potions to help the team when I really 'needed' them. Kh2 solved both issues so I was happy.
Sorry, guys. This is Spam Zone stuff so going to move it. Polls of person vs person etc go to Spam Zone.
happy b-day, you old *******!!! Well, it says you are 100. >.>
Harvey shrugged. "Due to the fact everything was stated before, we won't go over it again. Our points were addressed and Sora's testimony was in no way as biased as you make it out to be. As I said, it seemed clear to me that even as he was being examined by the prosecution he became angered and did not want Demyx 'overcharged' so let it rest now. Sora clearly came between the prosecution and defense and wanted more than anything to have the truth said. Therefore whatever bias you may have, it is unfounded. Whatever bias that Sora -had- at the time as well as what Demyx -had- at the time are their own and are important to the case. Let's just move on now." Riku yawned. "I wish they had ice cream here. Axel's trial is going to be an interesting one. Demyx's seems pretty cut and dry. Not sure why this song and dance is going on any way." Riku was sure he could be a great judge. Yuh-huh. Because he was calm and collected, not a meat head like Zack, and not eying some old man's crotch or checking out the girls seeing things that were probably not ordained proper. Then again, Zack was kind of cool because at least the court stuff was moving and he was sort of amusing, pretending to be super badass all the time. He had some skills, it was obvious, but it wasn't hard to figure them out since he was so willing to show them off. He wondered what Zack would be like at a party. Probably the real life of it. This turned Riku's thoughts to wondering what each person here would be like at a party and just what kind of party they'd go too. Now he had something to occupy himself with as things proceeded on. OOC: Someone else should play Demyx. Especially since you had a prob with me playing Xigbar, who is one of my fave Org members, so nyah. Actually, when it comes down to it, I wouldn't mind if you played Demyx as long as he's kept IC to his personality if Amber isn't coming in to do it. I would trust you with that and think as we keep going on we are becoming more to isolating attitudes of characters with specific characters. I think if we like the Org characters, we can do good jobs if no one else is filling the role so as we go on if there are slots I don't see why we can't fill them as long as we can keep prosecutor and defense lawyers with the tudes of themselves and keep other chars canon to how they are. I'd just say the requirement to play the Org character would be you -like- the Org character and also it isn't just so that one side or the other can win of course. If we can trust each other enough with that, I'm cool with it.
Yes, that definitely makes it special. lol I also liked Laurence Fox's too.
Harvey gave a nod again (and I realize I say that a lot in this Rpg). "We can go for charges at the end after Demyx testifies so let's hope he responds soon here so we can move on. His case really ought to be the shortest as he did the least wrong."
Evangelical Christian fanatics are really becoming a problem in this country especially. He should not be a -Science- teacher if he refuses to teach people science as it should be taught. Creationism is not a school topic. It is a religious thing and many Christians even can see that it was written from the standpoint of some men back in the day when they all thought the world was flat and resting on 4 pillars yadda yadda. I really don't care that he had a Bible in the classroom so long as he wasn't READING it while the teaching etc. He apparently also had other religious paraphernalia too and was a 'science teacher'? It seems like some sort of set up to try to corrupt science instead of teach it fairly to students. However, these people are obviously missing the point that this isn't the issue -alone-. What I do care about is that he was burning his students and doing weird acts to show his devotion to Christianity and trying to force the beliefs on the students both physically and mentally. There is no question in my mind that he should be fired and never teach again. The only people that will see him as a courageous fighter and defender of religious rights are other evangelical Christians that don't seem to mind if students' arms are burnt by crosses or that he mangles the rights of students to learn education and not be stupid, but certainly would have a problem if a Satanic believer or Wiccan etc drew with a marker a pentagram on their kids' arms without the danger of fire being even involved. Then, it would be 'evil'.
lol I wonder if there's anyone left on the internet that hasn't been rickrolled yet.
Go to the graphics shop as others have said to get some help if you want one made for you. The people there are nice and are willing to help out if you go ahead and follow their directions there. As this was answered and doesn't really go here, I'm going to go ahead and close this thread.
