There are no gangs at our school as far as I'm aware (apart from maybe slight influence from paramilitary groups but I'm pretty sure there's none of that). The school is just obsessed with image, and they think that guys with long hair look untidy.

Lots of people I've talked to think he is going to lose simply because it's him versus the Department for Education i.e. the government =/ I for one hope he wins, and I'm writing about it in the school's e-newspaper hopefully :D

If humans didn't exist would the world have a point? There would be no-one to record the wonders of the Earth, no-one to appreciate it's beauty and wonder. And I think your view of humanity is a gross over-simplification. The people doing that main damage are in the minority. Do you see people in your street stamping on plants and shooting out of the sky for the heck of it? No.

Pollution is a long term problem, it will take decades if not centuries to sort out. If you can think of a way of stopping creating pollution right now without causing the complete collapse of civilisation and the death of millions, I'd like to hear it. I'm all for protecting the environment, but I'm sick of people saying "OMG STOP POLLUTING!!" and not offering up any relalistic and practical method of doing so. All you are doing is making noise and pushing possible supporters of your cause away.

I agree with many of the things you've just said Repliku, but I don't think I've ever heard of an instance where a group of gay people have attacked a straight person just for being straight without provcation. Perhaps some evidence is in order?

Also, gay parades happen because gay people are still pretty much in the minority and I went to one recently. It was to celebrate 40 years of homosexuality being legal in NI. There was no violence, from either side.

Also, some people just crave attention. As you said before, just because they also happen to be gay doesn't mean there is any correlation. But I do agree that some people do take it too far, but again they are a minority. With any group there is a minority that is wrong in their actions.

The reason it is still such a big deal is because when something has to be fought over, the fight never truely ends. Like with women's rights, now the problem is that men are starting to lose out to women. A healthy and equal balance generally never exists =/.

Argh, I think I have more to say on this issue, but I can't think :S.

On-topic (LOL) - I think gay marriage is competely fine in everyway, and I have evidence that gay marriage will not destroy the earth here, it's near the bottom :P. I think that making a fuss over it in ANY way, either positive or negative, is wrong. People shouldn't even bat an eyelash. It is normal, there should be no extra reaction than "Isn't this a nice wedding?" and people being happy for the couple, whatever their gender.

First of all, you are thinking of nuclear fission which is the splitting of atoms by colliding them together. That is the dangerous one, that is the one that produces large amounts of dangerous radiation. Admittedly, fusion still produces radioactive substances, but nowhere near the same level as fission. Also, a working fusion generator (i.e. one that has run for like more than a day -__-) has still to be created (although a few are in construction). After that, a way of making them commercially viable will be needed. Fusion is harnessing the power of the sun on earth, and is IMO the way forward in terms of electrical generation.

Secondly, wind is all good, but produces very little electricity compared to fossil fuels. With hydrogen cells, you could power cars AND the national grid (I'd like to see you drive around with a wind turbine on your car) with the only byproduct being water. Again, the problem is building an economically viable prototype that is safe enough to be used by the public (hydrogen is extremely flamable and explosive, see Hindenburg Disaster.

Do you know that at night plants respire? Meaning, they breathe like we do at night, taking in oxygen and giving out CO2. Plants help the environment by trapping carbon dioxide. The ocean also does this. In liquids the solubility of gases increases when it is colder, this means that during the night and winter the oceans can hold more CO2, while in summer and during the day they let it out. (Lol, btw the symbol for carbon dioxide is CO2, sorry pet hate drilled into me by my chemistry teacher -__-').

I love the books, it really fleshes out the Star Wars universe, and the story lines are amazing.

You can't blame humanity for everything, how do you know there isn't some natural cause? The world goes through warming and cooling phases.

Species go extinct all the time, it's part of evolution. The strong survive and the weak die off. But, I am not saying humanity didn't have a part in it, because we definitely did. But most of the damage was done years ago out of ignorance of the consequences.

Damage done today is done because of a lack of ethics. Also, saying that we are all fncked because of humanity, you wouldn't exist if humanity didn't exist so that's quite a contradiction >_>

It is impossible to complete pollution completely. You have to be realistic with these things. You can't expect every American/European to stop driving their cars and take public transport just because you tell them to. It would never work, and would make little of a difference. We need long term solutions, like clean and renewable energy sources, such as nuclear fusion and hydrogen cells.

You do realise that there is next to nothing that we can do to help? I wouldn't trust charities with my money unless I saw exactly what it was paying for and that the people actually received it at the other end.
