It is caused by deleted posts, the pages count deleted posts so you end up with ghost pages. It happened in another thread too.

Homework prepares you for live outside of school i.e. work. Homework is actually much easier than that. If you forget a homework or don't have it done in time your teacher will give you an extension or maybe even a detention. In work you could be fired.
Also homework is there to reinforce what you have done in school. At Lower Sixth it is considerably harder as we are expected to do our own homework. We have to read around the subject and go over our own notes and even ahead into the next topics.

It is about independant learning and work. Your teacher will not always be there to hold your hand and tell you where you are going wrong.

Humans are the most dangerous I would agree yes. That is because of our sentience. We no longer rely solely on base instinct. We think logically. It is how we have survived so long. We can adapt massively to change. We can exploit anything and everything around us to suit our needs. Humans are also dangerous from the fact that we are as much a danger to ourselves as we are to everything else. We are more likely to kill each other off than anything else really =/. Also, as Spitfire said, we have managed to remove ourselves from the natural processes and cycles of the Earth. We enter into almost every ecosystem on the planet and usually rip it to shreds. We, as a species, do not work in symbiosis very well =/.

I think censorship of media for political reasons is wrong. People should be allowed to read into whatever side of a topic they wish. You take away that ability and you are supressing their rights. And anyway, banning something just makes people want to read or watch it more =/ Therefore banning is counter-productive.

I think violence in schools is caused mainly by the fact that teenagers are involved. It is the most unstable part of a human's lifetime and most mistakes are made then. Also, people tend to not be able to help with teenage problems, especially in guys (we just don't like talking about our problems to parents and elders, I know I sure don't >_>). This means more people are walking around with strong emotions bottled up inside them ready to be released at the slightest notice.

Then when that happens they look for some way to deal with it and they find violence. They look for the quickest, easiest and most impersonal way to deliver that violence and they find guns. Hence, guns are bad and America should wise up ^^.

Also, there have been instances where adults have killed students. This could be for many reasons for this. Firstly, whatever cause them to go over the edge is related to children. Maybe they were abused as a child, maybe they were bullied in school and hate all children. There is also the fact when something happens to children it is big news. People care what happens to children. Basically it has more of an impact on society.

The only news I trust is the BBC, just because it has been around for so long. Even though it is technically owned by the government it is still pretty reliable.

The one place you should NEVER trust for news is newspapers. Tabloid papers print over-dramatic stories because they are basically money makers. They are the newspaper magazine, generally full of crap. The broadsheets, although more factual, are always slanted. Each paper is either left or right wing, with suitably orientated writers.

What people forget is, news programs aren't perfect. Of course they are going to get things wrong, but when things are made to be purposefully misleading that's when problems arise and trust is (or rather should) be lost.

Although I am a great admirer of your debating abilities, I think I should point out some minor errors.

After going to a talk on Super String Theory, I have been clarified on what the "Big Bang" theory entails. First of all there is no explosion. The point which contains all the matter and energy in our universe today is all that exists. It is time and space. There is nothing outside it. Then the space and time expand creating our 3-11 dimensions. Before then time and space didn't really exist.

I also heard that it is 5 billion not 4 but hey I'll be dead then so who cares? ^^ Scientists have also worked out that the Earth may not be engulfed at that time. The shockwave of the outer shell being released will push the Earth into a larger orbit, but it will still be roasted and uninhabitable.

As for the Aztec/Mayan prediction (as I have said many times before) it says that the world as we know it will end. This isn't necessarily a bad thing and does not mean the end of the human race.

On the other hand, the Carter Catastrophe states mathematically when the human race will end i.e. when the last human will die. This works on the principle that we are in the last 10% of humans ever to be born (see this diagram). This means that it is possible to work out from the number of humans already born coupled with life expectancy when the last human will die. It ain't perfect but no prediction of the future is.

EDIT: I love your sig btw ^^

The problem is we may never have a vaccine. That would be the same as finding a cure for the common cold. The virus mutates to much and too fast to develop an effective vaccine.

People blast Microsoft all the time, and sometimes for good reason. But although Microsoft word crashes, it's hard to find software that doesn't crash. It is also usually a problem with your operating system (i.e. Windows, another fine product provided by Microsoft :P).

Losing my sight or the ability to move would be a major blow. Having to re-adjust would take so long and be so painful I don't know if I would be able to manage it.

Also, losing everyone I know and love would just make life not worth living anymore and prove once and for all that there is no God...
