But they aren't giving IP adresses =_= All Google is giving is the records of what was accessed by how many accounts. It doesn't look at who accessed what, when and from where. All Viacom want to investigate is how popular specific videos are, and then compare it to how illegal they are.

Again I say, if you have done nothing wrong you have nothing to hide (and if anyone mentions the slippery slope argument, they are going to end up on the slippery slope to the grave >: )

Everyone is not bi-sexual. The labels straight, bi-sexual and gay mean that there are feelings beyond sex involved. They mean that you feel both sexual attraction to and love for which ever gender. Anyone could have sex with anyone else with the appropriate encouragement, whether it is money or a threat on their life.

There are no elements to put it bluntly. The closest thing to what you are thinking of in the physical world is the elemental particles. These are the fundamental particles of matter that make up everything else, and cannot be reduced. There are quarks, gluon's, gravitons etc most of them being theoretical in nature.

The idea of there being four or five elements is extremely outdated and obsolete.

Another point that should be made is that the earth is a closed and rather limited economy. We only have so much in the way of resources and if we stay on earth making no effort to spread out into at least the solar system we will starve as a species. We need to think much more in the long term instead of being so pre-occupied with the present. We also have to accept the fact that in some instances we can't save everyone =/

However, I don't like the way this seems to be saying we can only fund a space programme or aid to other countries. It is much different in practice lol

A system of government can only be said to work if it is applicable to humans. Anything is else irrelevant. Robots and perfec t beings would not need a government.

A point that many people are missing is that all of the data being handed over to Viacom is anonymous. They won't have any personal data from any Youtube accounts. All they want is to find out what the viewing statistics are for both legal and illegal material on Youtube to see which is more popular.

If you think about it, if you haven't done anything illegal you should have nothing to hide and nothing to worry about, not that they could trace anything back to anyone anyway (Well, not with this data anyway. Who know knows what they may request in the future)

It all depends on what your priorities are. If you believe that all humans are members of the nation of humanity (which is the mindset that would be rather helpful >_>) then helping people wherever they happened to be born would be pretty high on the agenda. Also, building up these countries and their economies is part of long term planning and strategies. If they have a functioning economy then they also have a viable market to export to and import from, improving both countries.

If you believe in the long term, funding the space program would be a good idea. With the constant threat from meteor impacts (you are statistically more likely to be killed by a meteor impact than lightning) we need ways to deal with them.

Personally I think that countries, such as America, need to deal with their ever mounting internal problems before heading out into the world.

I would also go so far as to accuse America as not acknowledging the existence of much outside of their borders, cutting them off from practically all of the rest of humanity and making them one of the most hated countries in the world. Interesting title for a (waning) superpower.

All of the points that libregkd are very true, communism is perfect on paper but once the imperfections and flaws of humanity are introduced the entire system falls apart.

The inherent differences in every one of us stop it working. Some people are natural leaders, and will want to be at the top telling other people what to do. On the flip side, there are people who want to be lead, who want someone else to tell them what to do (and in extreme cases, what to think too). People drift up and down the scale until the "equality" is destroyed.

But it has to be remembered that the logs of Youtube accounts viewings will be anonymous. They won't (or rather, shouldn't) be able to connect it to IP addresses. All they want is to see if the illegal content is more popular viewing than the legal. If it is then they will be able to accuse Google of profiting off of gross copyright infringement.

Has anyone else heard about the related story where (in the UK at least) the music industry is asking the ISPs to rat out their customers that download or share music illegally? Virgin Media sent out letters to the people whose ISP addresses came up in their search and apparently they have been threatened with having their service cut off. Which was also apparently a mistake xD

I can see why they would want to protect their own property, but there is also the need to protect peoples privacy in this all too transparent world of ours.
