Experience does not necessarily mean quality. Someone could have 20 years experience and still be a crappy president, so that argument is kinda out (Although, I'm not saying that experience should be ignored).

As for his wife saying that she was never really proud to be American, who cares? I often wonder at the almost zealotry approach a lot of Americans take to their "National Pride". Yes, if you believe that your country has earned your respect then you can feel proud to live there, otherwise its your choice. Also, if the American people are going to be so fickle and shallow that they would count something like that when they are voting, then no decent candidate has much hope >_>

The pastor could be said to have had a fair point (wasn't it something to do with American having an attack like 9/11 coming?) and voters can have their own opinions on that. But, again, they are not Obamas opinions, and so should not be treated as such.

    Politics is ******ed >_>

It may not only be pride, but a governmental perfectionism xD As in, they feel like they have to do it completely right the first time so as to seem successful and strong.

Umm, it has been proven by a scientific study using brain scans of straight and gay men and woman to show that they had different brain structures which could only have been formed in the womb. I posted the article myself >_>

I know all about the problems of Leviticus. In-fact, I have read that same letter before. And the author of that letter is exactly right. If you follow one part, surely you are obligated to follow all of the rules to the letter, without exception? Unfortunately, most Christians get around this by saying that some parts of the Bible (i.e. the parts that they don't like) are meant to be taken as metaphorical.

This then allowing them to pick and choose which parts to follow. I personally think that it is ridiculous.

The reason it was faked would be for national pride. The government obviously believes that the people's faith in their county is wavering, so even one missle failing would be an admission of weakness and failure.

Just being obsessed with image, it being such an important thing these days (i.e. looking stong and capable is as important as actually being strong and capable)

Lol, Leviticus also stating that children should be killed if they disrespect their parents and that it is forbidden to wear clothing made from two different materials. Very suspect.

Also, most Christians go so far as to ignore most of the Old Testament because of its sheer ludicracy. They take it "metaphorically", saying that the New Testament and specifically the teachings of Jesus to be the true word of God.

Really, a peice of writing is only as sound and valid as its author(s), and considering that little is known about the original authors, and a lot of what they had originally written may have been ignored or even purposefully changed over the years takes a lot of validity out of it.

Also, how can something God him/herself created (debatable, but not here) be a sin? It has been proven that homosexuality is pre-determined at birth meaning that God is the creating gay people lol

A lot of the things that you mentioned pertaining to childhood aren't so much shaping what we will be in later life. Obviously they will have some impact (especially with religion and ways to live your life), but they are mainly just setting up a platform from which you can decide what you want to do and be.

Of course, there are people out there who don't want to be their own person. They want to be told what to be, what to wear and sometimes even how to think. I think that just comes down to laziness.

The main answer to the question (in my opinion anyway) is that we make the decision as of how much of our own person we want to be. But, with like 7 billion people in the world, there is bound to be someone else out there who is quite like you lol
