Physics is the practical application of mechanics which is a mathematical discipline. You use maths within physics to work out the equations (obviously). However, physics theories have relatively little to do with maths and vice versa.

They are the same but different =D

What is going on, there is no picture in that post but everyone else can see it.

Not only that, but random videos on Youtube are not available for me but are for other people.

    I HATE THE INTERNET

I personally thought that being able to get the media on your side would be a desirable trait for a presidential candidate. Also, why are you letting the actions of others (i.e. not the candidates themselves) affect your choice of candidate?

Well I know that perfection is impossible, but why would God (a perfect being) create imperfect beings in the first place with the ability to do wrong/evil/sin?

As a matter of fact, why make humans in the first place xD But that is off-topic, and for another discussion.

Anyway, applying this to the situation at hand, these imperfections snuffed out an entire family. But as you said, **** does happen and it tends to happen to the wrong people =/

Very very VERY, well put =] I have heard this argument before and it does provide a pretty valid explanation to the whole "why do bad things happen to good people/innocents" slant.

A different analogy I heard was if your child was learning to ride a bike it had to make mistakes in order to learn. It had to know the pain from falling off the bike to help it be able to ride it.

Although, I personally think God could have skipped out this step by making us not need to learn anything. Why make us, and the world we live in, so in imperfect to begin with? So prone to tragedy.

The difference is I did not choose an individual to "bash", I was working with an organisation/ideal. Choosing one person is known as flaming. That being against the rules of the forum.

I thank those of you who made an attempt (many very successful in their attempts =]) to provide an explanation.

I will of course be ignoring BaseSebastian's post considering was a blatant attempt to ridicule and insult me. It also seems to have been an attempt to make me retaliate with at least as much strength. But, I won't rise to the challenge as I don't accept ridiculous statements, ignorance and down right hateful attitudes

    :)

Lol even more hypocrisy. God is defined as being omnipotent, omnipresent and omnibenevolent. Meaning all-powerful, everywhere and all-loving. Incidents like this contradict that statement and therefore require an explanation.

All I'm looking for is an explanation.

I was commenting on the fact that the Christian faith is hypocritical and so anyone who lives their life by it is hypocritical as well. This does not contradict my previous point in any way.

Also, if I am to be threatened with bladed weapons at the very least I can be insulting.

The reason I started this thread was because I am sick and tired of religious people trying to explain away tragedies like this and wanted concrete answers as to how people can still keep their faith when things like this happen. Apparently as religion is "taboo" I am not allowed to question it.

Friday the 13th is considered unlucky because of the connection with the massacre of the Knights Templar by the Catholic Church. The order went out (kinda like Order 66 from Star Wars lol) and the entire organisation was virtually wiped out.

More excuses it seems. Why write and compile an entire book if it is to be taken metaphorically? Also, who decides what is metaphor and what is literal? An easy way out when someone questions something "Oh yeah that bit is metaphorical, you can ignore it".

There is very little concrete about religion, apart from the ignorance it breeds. And when it comes to tragedies like this ignorance is not something we need.

There has been much research into evolution and much of it has held up under close scrutiny. Just because there are unexplained sections doesn't mean you have to go all "god of the gaps" on origin theory. Also, belief implies that there is no evidence for a theory. There is in fact plenty of hard evidence for evolution from hundreds of locations all over the globe and from many different sources.

It is certainly more logical than woman being made from the rib of a man and the whole world being created in a week.

I am also quite amused that you would dare use the word hypocrisy against someone else. The Bible is full of hypocrasies as are the lives of every Christian today (not to mention the other religions around the world).

I wouldn't say I am a Christian basher, I try not to bash Christians as people as I don't consider a person and religion to be the same thing. However, if a person believes that the most important overarching thing in their life is their religion then I might as well be bashing them. Also, I hate all organised religions more or less equally :)

But yes, saying that "God must have had a good reason to do it" is a paradoxical excuse with no end. It can be argued over and over again and never beaten because it isn't logical. If there were a good reason then god could at least have the good grace to let us know what it is rather than us having to work it out for ourselves (he apparently controls enough of the rest of our lives through the various churches to give us this concession).

Exactly, the human mind evolved to find patterns in its surrounding environment. The major problem is that we assume that a group of effects have to have a common cause, when really it is just coincidence.

Oh look, a bigot who supports McCain trying to stir up hatred and malice towards the opposition.

Of course, I am not saying all McCain supporters are like this and I'm sure there are supporters on the other side of the fence quite capable of something similar. But the fact that it was a B on her face and that she described the attacker as being black just goes to show the depths of depravity that some people will stoop to.

Of course it was going to happen at some point. And of course the white supremacists are to blame (why they haven't been rooted out and destroyed once and for all I don't know). But just because voting for Obama might get him shot is no reason at all not to vote for him. Don't you think he is intelligent enough to know the risks to his person? And he's still running. That at very least shows determination.

Also, although this may sound rather...........wrong (?) he may accomplish more from being assassinated. Martyrdom is a powerful force.
