You have obviously never heard of The Magic Roundabout, or Mr Ben, or The Moomins or Rhubarb and Custard *sigh* None of you have lived.
Bipolar (i.e. prone to random and violent mood swings, usually to the two extremes) as well as depressed makes a pretty perfect storm for suicide usually =/
The point is, the fact that you are alive should be enough to keep you going. There are plenty of people in the world worse off than you are. I just read here that he was in fact bipolar and was suffering from depression at the time. Mental illness does excuse him somewhat, however it pushes the blame on to other people instead. There is always someone to blame for suicide.
*sigh* Teens these days don't understand the difference between suicide and attention seeking. Doing it on the Internet is possibly the most attention seeking way of doing it. As is going to the roof of a building and not jumping immediately or cutting your wrists when you are somewhere you know someone is going to find you. Also, why do people get so worked up when someone kills themselves? Why aren't we angry at them or at the very least disappointed? They had so much potential and they just chickened out and threw it all away. There are hundreds who die everyday who did not choose to die who would relish the chance to live, and yet there are people like this who just treat their life and everyone they know as worthless. It sickens me.
To put the whole smoking weed and driving thing into context, if you text while you drive your reaction times are 5 times worse than if you are high >_> So yes, there are worse things you could be doing while driving.

Legalisation would be the best thing for the government and the users (in terms of helping them). At the moment it is an underground market, meaning no regulation and no checks. Extortionate amounts of money can be charged for it because the dealers know that it is addictive. However, if it was legalised the government could actually have a hand in the use of it. Stamping out the use of it has proved impossible (this being what caused prohibition to be reversed in America, the fact that it was impossible to enforce) and so bringing it out in the open so that it can be monitored is really the only thing that can be done. And yes alcohol and tobacco are at least as dangerous if not more so. The only other point I would like to make is it's production. Governments would have to set up bodies specifically tasked to regulate marijuana farms to ensure they meet health and safety standards etc. This could help those who currently work on the farms greatly.
