Well, if you accepted going out with this guy, your ex would not appreciate that either. Do you know what Jake feels towards you? Might want to ask him.

In the end, I suggest if this guy makes advances on you that you need to be clear with him and tell him to stop it. Say plainly that you will be his friend but nothing more and that he cannot hit you with rubber bands on the arse etc. This guy needs to be told flat out or else he won't get a hint.

As for your ex, you may have to talk to him too about your feelings, but sadly you may have to just accept you aren't going to be together if you do nothing or he's content to do what he is now. He may be part of the problem as to why 'Max' is being so playful with you and hitting on you. Most 'best friends' don't go out with someone's ex unless the friend who was going out with the ex initially says it's cool. This could mean that he has no feelings for you in the way you do for him and you might have to let him go if you don't just come out and ask him if you two might ever go out again.

Either way though, if Max is creeping you out, tell him to back off and that you are not interested in him. We all must learn rejection sometime and since you are not being out front with him, he thinks you are playing around. Saying 'you will be in humungous trouble if you do that again' can be taken as playful. Instead, saying 'Please don't do that again. It isn't funny at all.' makes the point that you did not like it. Wording is very important and if you wait, the situation could get more strange for you.

    Help with Life Guideline

The purpose of the Help with Life section is to assist one another with our daily strife issues, some bad things that happen, etc. Hopefully, people can help one another in the end to take on a new day with better meaning and motivation.

The forums though is PG-13. Keeping this in mind, members need to post within these parameters. This is not an area to post the following:

    1. Suicide threats - We simply cannot do much for you if you feel you are going to commit suicide. Do not post these threads please. It's one thing if you are depressed, but it's another to make a suicide letter where members feel desperate to do something but do not know if they can or not. Whether you like it or not, flat out, suicide threats are selfish and bring on a world of hurt to many people other than just you.

Suggestion: - if you feel that you are very depressed and troubled, this section was made so that we could assist with coming up with solutions other than suicide as an option. Please post what the problems are so that we can help you address them instead of a suicide note. This will put you in a better mental frame and also allow others to take the problem serious but not make others stressed as well. Come here to post with having another resolution desired and perhaps you will get one.

    2. Threads that condone violence - Basically, no threads pertaining to beating the snot out of someone, crippling someone or worse. Also, do not make suggestions that encourage someone to do an act that would get anyone sent to a Detention Home or prison.

Suggestion: Encourage people dealing with aggressive others to seek out assistance, stand up for themselves, etc. If you've done some violent act, we don't need to know about it. All we could suggest is that you do the right thing and come forward to who matters in your life.

    3. No Graphic Sexual Threads - If something traumatic has happened to you, you can post about it but watch how graphic you go and do not get explicit with things. We can attempt to help someone but we are not psychiatrists here so please consider this.

Suggestion: If you wish to talk to someone, ask in a thread if someone who is an adult will talk with you in PM in regards to your situation. Perhaps legally and mentally they can offer more support and it keeps the site rating where it is.

Basically, in the end, this area is a place where all of us can vent, talk important issues out and help others to come up with solutions that are the most positive decisions we can muster. If something is -very- serious, we simply may not be able to help you and you may require professional help or assistance from parents, a school counselor or some trusted person in your life.

If you really need someone to talk to over a very dire circumstance, some of us such as CtR or me are adults and we may be able to assist you with issues that are severe. However, again, we are not psychiatrists so we can only aid you so much. Basically, don't expect miracles here. We all do our best and everyone so far has taken this section seriously, so we don't have many smartasses who put others down. If you have any questions regarding what is appropriate or not, feel free to PM a member of staff and we will be glad to aid you.

A rule specifically for here as well.

    1. On Threads that Declare Poster Will Aid Others Who Post Problems There
Do not do these. Most people know not to post threads that ask others to post in them so that the person can respond to the problems and issues. The Help with Life area is NOT about a person with no problems who wants to help others. Each thread made pertains to someone who WANTS assistance. This person could care less who he/she gets help from so stop making threads that are self-absorbed so that someone would feel compelled to post there.

Suggestion: This is not a Dear Abby column where anyone merits that kind of attention or recognition for aiding others in your own thread. If you wish to help, PLEASE do so, but in the threads that already exist. Anyone who seriously spends time aiding others is appreciated. Just please do not feel compelled to make a thread yourself that is for general aid. You won't have all the answers and one person's opinion is not better than several.

I know what you mean. I went to a drug store to get a prescription for a family member and was standing in line. This old woman came up behind me with her cart and I didn't notice her since I was getting things explained about the drug and signing my life away. I turned and went to leave, expecting no one behind me because no one is supposed to be directly behind you when you get drugs by the privacy act. I almost hit her cart that was directly there and she's lucky I didn't just boar through it. She gave me this 'look' because I suppose I seem the gothish type and I just said "Excuse me would be proper and also next time, back up. I could have hurt you very unintentionally." She then gasped and gave me this look like I was going to harm her and I waved and walked out of the place.

Some old people are very disrespectful of younger people and don't seem to get it that we pay their social security checks. They should consider that a bit more and stop looking down on us so much. Fortunately, it isn't all old people though, as I've met quite a few that think I'm unusual but like me for my originality. All I can say is that I hope when I grow old I am one of those funny old guys and not one of those rotten ones that sits around griping all the time and expecting the world to bow down to me because I lived so long.

He really was quite foolish to do this deed. He had already gotten away with murder, literally, because of a cop being stupid and racist. Despite DNA evidence, he was seen as 'innocent' except in the civil case that concluded he 'could have done it'.

I realize the guy lost a lot of money and items etc, but he should have totally known better than to risk anything when all likely evidence points he did the murder in the first place. This act years later to be a tough guy with his buddies just was lame. He should have just let the material objects go. I do wonder what his sentence is going to be now that he's been proven guilty of this, along with the others involved.

In the end, to fight the situation, people need to start thinking smartly. We have to learn to save more and stop being encouraged to use credit because it's just money in the end we simply don't have and neither do the banks really. The interest on credit is ridiculous. So, if you have to take loans, make sure they are for only the most expensive of things and always try to have a huge down payment. Another way around interest is to pay more than you owe each month so that the banks don't get extra money out of you by you paying just what you directly seem to owe.

Anything else though, Americans really need to learn to not use credit cards at all beyond the house and car if that is a must. We have to try to save up what we can and stop going for extra luxury things we don't need if it can be helped, even though we really want them right now. One way I've motivated myself to not use credit cards is to think on what I want and know that by the time I can afford it, the item will be cheaper or something better will have come around that is more techie and useful for the same price I saved up.

The bail out plan in its way sucks, but at the same time, we are so dependent on banks etc, that we have to do it. If we want to change that, we have to be willing to alter our lifestyles in the future to back smaller businesses, pay for what we need to and definitely stop using credit as much as we can. Also, we simply need to read in between the lines and if we do take out a loan for anything, always get a -fixed rate- on interest so that it can never go up on you. Many people who took out mortgages on their homes etc did not know to do this and were talked into corrupt loans by Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, as well as some banks. Though at first they offer a low interest rate, it later climbs up to ridiculous proportions which is what is mainly the cause of this, because people couldn't deal with the rising interests that took them by surprise. Fixed rates seem higher at first but at least they are stable and you know if you get a loan straight out what you could pay per month and the banks are obligated to keep it the same for the 20 to 30 years you pay.

Generation Y to me is fine. Sure, there are members in any generation that flub it up for the rest. It's the way it works. We all have choices in the end to make of whether we will be people that contribute to society and well, become decent people or not.

Parenting can be an excuse for only so long really. When people are teens and younger, sure, we can say that they are coming out awful etc and point directional sensors at parents. However, I'm inclined to feel that as a person becomes an adult, he or she is responsible then to make choices and think on life in grander scale since the person is supposed to be cognitive and able to make decisions. Parents mold children as does the environment and genetics but after a time, parents shouldn't hold the same power when someone is out of the house away from that. That's the time when people should be thinking on their own and coming to their own choices, so even if a parent is say prejudiced against gays or colors of skin etc, there's nothing saying the kids have to follow in the same footsteps if they don't want to.

Teenage years really are a time to start beginning to opening the mind and seeking out your own answers. You may have to not say much to parents etc if they are biased or closed-minded, but some teens do and well, teens therefore get labeled as rebels. Every generation has its people that do things differently from the generation prior. It's only natural to do so. There's always a stigma older people lay on younger generations but they also have different problems than afflict a younger generation. Younger generations also attack older generations, not recognizing their issues as well. It's a vicious cycle and rather silly in the end. I think we should not really disdain 'generations' as much as we should be annoyed at some of the people in each generation that bring that generation down and make it seem pathetic. To harbor negative feelings to a whole generation doesn't seem much different than having ill reactions to gays, women, men, ethnicities etc. It's prejudice. On the same note, though each generation has its troublemakers, there are also great people that emerge from any generation. I feel it rather important to note that.
