There are people (both boys and girls) that group around snobbish sorts of people. It enables some people to become really rotten to others and to get others to do things for them. Why?

Because it's very hard in school and some business places even to tell the difference between someone who is 'arrogant' versus someone with 'self-confidence'. I think most people would like to hang around someone who is self-confident and motivated to live life strong and well. However, when self-confidence is tainted by someone being self-absorbed instead, we run into snobs and jerks. These people may still be energized and have some qualities we can like, but also bad ones, but some people will still hang around them anyway because it's seen as cool.

I can't generalize and say girls do this alone because I know plenty of guys that do it too. I suppose the thing in the end to know is whether someone is a nice person but self-confident versus someone who's a self-absorbed arrogant prick or betch. I'd always choose the self-confident sort and try to be that myself because I like people and certainly don't want to go around harming others to inflate my ego. Being strong doesn't mean being a pig-headed person, but I think a lot of people do like to hang around someone they view as a strong sort. After all, we are social creatures and we do spread our moods and temperaments about. If someone smiles, we may smile. If someone is fun, we may have more fun, etc. Snobby people tend to have an aura that means they can have 'fun' and also no one wants to be on the receiving end of one of their cut downs because it can ruin your day, week, month...depending how bad the insults are.

So maybe some 'fear' promotes it. The desire to fit in and well, confusion on what self-confidence is and that we don't really 'need' snobs to fill in the gaps of our lives. I probably made little sense here but hope someone understood what I was getting at. >.>

In the end the Bail Out had to happen in order to balance things so that the economy did not collapse. It does not mean though that these corporations like Sally Mae and Freddie Mac do not owe people explanations. They are under investigation now to get to the bottom of things and the Bail Out was needed to be a temporary solution. To fix the actual problem though, things need investigated and money does need to be watched as to where it goes. Also, some help needs to go to the people who were screwed over, not the big execs who go on vacations. >.>

I've never gone to a private school because my family was way too poor to even consider such a thing. I'm sure at times they wished they could have afforded to do that but all in all I'm not against private or public schools. I think both have their ups and downs and the only thing I would refuse to ever do would be to go to a religious private school because I am not religious and wouldn't even want to fake I was. Nor would I want lessons curtailed to it.

Otherwise, I wouldn't mind either school. Private schools have uniforms more and I wouldn't care about that so much because then at least other kids wouldn't pick on some for not owning 100 dollar jeans or expensive sneakers etc that just to me are not as important as actually learning something. I do like to wear what I want but all in all, until I worked for my own clothes, school kids were kind of mean in that way.

I had some gang activity in school but I knew how to avoid most troubles and had fair weather friends who were affiliated with gangs that tended to fight with one another. I kind of made it a practice in public school to just be me and not worry about some stuff and if someone messed with me, I dealt with it. School, whether private or public, I probably wouldn't have really enjoyed that much. I actually like college much more as it is a better atmosphere all around and people who try to be still the 'popular' kids often are the ones who flunk out while others less noticeable make their mark because they know what is more important.

The woman did it to herself. You can tell she carved the B herself by looking in her mirror as it is -backwards-. No one who was attacking would do such a thing. I also loved her description that the guy who attacked her was black, 6'4 and had shiny shoes. Stereotypical much to get fear going? She worked on the McCain stuff as a volunteer. I'm glad it was discovered it was fake because just seeing the stupid B carved backwards on her face so intricately was enough for me to know. Also she did state that she has mental issues so maybe she was just trying to stir things. Some McCain supporters have been rather insane at rallies etc.

I have no idea why people thought the tax cuts and returned money incentive were a great idea. The main reason Bush's plan failed was that 300 dollars to 600 dollars was given to each person for the stimulus. It was meant as a way to put money back into companies and small businesses etc. However, MOST people are not doing well and with increased bills, that is instead where the money went to. People paid into electricity, cable, phone etc. They didn't go out and -buy- things because money is tight.

The point of it was lost and Bush is so out of touch as is McCain and others in Washington that they do not live as -we- do where that money went to bills. They -have- plenty of money so their logic is flawed. It was nice for some people to catch up but 300 bucks for a single person and 600 bucks for married w kids etc... it was chump change in the end due to costs of gas and electricity. If they wanted to solve things better it would have been to explore other options than -oil-. *cough*

Alright, going to say this once here. The question was asking about homosexuality and what -ASIDE- from religion makes it 'wrong' or 'right'. This has nothing to do with religion other than the fact some religions consider homosexuality to be bad and immoral. It doesn't need brought up and NO ONE has to whip out the martyr card. Anymore speaking out as though your religion is being abused or bashing religions on anyone's part and I will automatically delete the posts, no questions asked, and if you really want to be persistent, there will be warnings. Please stick to the topic at hand so that it does not have to be closed. It was a worthy question to inquire and we can make cognitive posts pertaining to it or don't post here. :/

As for Obama being in danger, sadly we still have some idiot white supremacists out there and neo-nazis. If Obama is elected, which I hope he is because John McCain's policies and beliefs have the support of the ultimate right wingers and nuts that shout 'kill him' and 'terrorist' and are the worst bigots out there, the secret service will be working overtime.

People are so worried Obama can't take the heat under pressure and yet throughout the debate he has been in control while McCain gives way to pressure all the time. He -knows- the danger. Be assured. Martin Luther King knew the dangers of speaking out for peace and change. Other figures in history, whether black or white, gay or straight, male or female, have known the risks of standing up to do something when others are bigots that pre-judge you. The point of strength though is that this country -has- matured a lot from racism. Having Obama as a candidate who is black, amongst also being white, is a statement in itself that we are moving beyond race. Having Hillary as a strong candidate also was a show that sexism is also changing more. I'm not voting for Obama because he's black and many people aren't, including blacks, though the media says otherwise at times. We -are- a changing country and this is what we need to keep doing. Obama knows the risks and we should too, but it doesn't mean we should not vote for him if we like his policies more than John McCain's. We have to take a chance now and then that the right choice will prevail.

We should be 'worried' and mindful that there are idiots out there that we wish would just fade away but they are also extremists and they will not go so quietly into the night. Extremists try to convert others to their methods and beliefs. They entirely won't be talked down from their stances because they are filled with fear that turns to hate and who sees 'logically' when they are hating on something or someone? No one. We say and do the dumbest things in that state of being.

I do worry for Obama but I think the secret service has done a remarkable job in the past and will do so now. If he does die, it will be a tragedy but it will also change things yet again by force and guaranteed any idiot extremists will get what's coming to them. If he does not die, then good and those of us who don't care about some extra melanin in the skin will be vindicated in our choice. We should vote for the person we think will do a better job and not fly the 'race card' the other way too, which means that because he's black and he could die, we won't vote for him. I think that's exactly the wrong angle to take and the U.S. has to face its woes and the man is perfectly willing to himself. To do something out of fear is not always the rational the choice. It's a 'survival' choice which can make us continue to be held down and we too then are making an 'extreme' decision. So though I have my worries there are those out there that hate him and fear him simply because he's got a different skin tone, it won't stop me election day from doing what I feel is right.

The sad point comes down to I would be more worried that McCain, who has been hot headed, made Palin a VP choice and she's just an awful woman, and gets frustrated during a campaign run will do something lame. He and mainly Palin, have also stirred up crowds to say wretched things and Palin even smiles as people shout 'kill him'. Their candidacy draws out these low lives that the rest of us just keep hoping will die out of old age because they are a relic of history that we'd rather move on from. Also, any president truly has a bulls eye on them. We've had white presidents die too or be shot. We don't always hear about the threats presidents have to their daily lives but they do happen, which is why we have a kick ass secret service. Extremists should not be rewarded, whether religious, prejudiced against gender or race etc. Not voting for Obama simply because people are scared he will be killed is giving extremists a reward that they rule us by our own fears. So I hope that those who can vote, whether for McCain or Obama, do so not out of this worry. Do it because you support the platforms and things they want to do as president. The future is unknown and if bad things happen, we know the reality of the situation that there are horrid people out there, so it's something to be mindful of; not let these people dominate us and keep us locked in the past.

    Shinigami.

She may be using this 'shinigami' thing as a way to cope with problems she has had in the past because being alone and dealing with them is very hard for her. Some people do this with various things such as religion, a superhero, ghost, etc as a coping mechanism and it says pretty much that she's lonely and maybe scared. I'd say to not really entertain it too much as it is a phase she will one day grow out of but it's helping her keep stable. Perhaps try to get her out more to meet other people, tell her if you want to, that you are there if she wants someone to talk about what's eating at her, and well, maybe get her to go to some social functions etc. She needs to get her mind off the abuse she has taken and other traumas so that she becomes more a part of life. That would be the best suggestion I can give in this instance with what you describe. Children do this kind of thing with imaginary friends often because they are alone so that's kind of with what you describe, how I'd look at it but it and after a time of getting out and becoming more a part of things, just as children do, she may get over this.

    Girl "A"

I would ask her if she would want to date first off since it doesn't seem that she's told you directly no and that you are waiting for her to ask you out. You could be waiting a long time before she'd decide to ask you or any guy out since some girls prefer a boy to ask them out instead. So go for it. If she says no, then you have your answer and she could remain a friend. You can have respect for her great qualities you find so cool and not go out with her. In the end it is the girl's choice. If she says yes though, then you have a good thing so I think you should ask. If she says she's not ready to date, there may be a reason called her parents don't want her dating yet or well, she's just not ready for it, since you mentioned she's younger than you. However, putting it out there that you like her at least lets her know you have interest.

Geography is important but at the same time, Americans aren't the only ones that can't identify other nations they should know of on a map. The point that some Americans get blasted for is they can't even identify the 50 states properly. If you can't know your own nation, how can you know much else?

However, the problem of not knowing the world around you is hardly an American problem. There are people in any country that do not know and even if people learn skills in school, after a while, sometimes as little as 2 years after, you forget it all unless you keep up with it. In a way, people now can be prepared for trips etc by looking up the area they are going to on the internet to even include weather trackers, local geography, climate etc and a history of climate, about the culture and landmarks. I do still consider geography to be important and think people should at least know their -own- countries but I know many Americans who do not even know where a state two states away from their own is. However, I can say that I've met people of other countries too that they were lucky if they could name continents off. It's not schools I necessarily blame for this. It's more that a person's memory holds so much unless they are blessed with a photographic or eidetic memory. After a couple years, if we don't consider it important, that stuff begins to fade. However, you can always learn it and become smarter about each place by just studying now and then on a particular place for amusement when bored.

What Joe Biden said that Palin keeps repeating was said when he was a candidate for presidency. He dropped out and hasn't said it since and really it wasn't that bad a thing to say. She's twisting things and I consider a woman that sits there and stirs up crowds of morons to say things like 'kill him', 'terrorist!', 'Arab!', 'Hussein!', etc while she smiles about it is someone that needs to shut up. Palin also is a person that has spoken in rallies that support an organization that wants Alaska to secede from the United States. She also had a preacher that she comments is the reason she was able to become governor who in Africa had people chase out a woman saying she was a witch from a town and he's made money off people very wrongfully using religion in an evil way.

McCain tried recently to get Obama to apologize and repudiate a statement from a person that -he- was apparently friends with because he said that Palin and McCain are stirring up people to violence and it is reminiscent of what Wallace did back in the 60s. Well, Obama doesn't owe crap to McCain. McCain also said he would not have been so 'rude' if Obama would have done what he said and had 'town hall' like meetings straight on as he wanted. I'm sorry, but the guy is loopy and no one has to play by -his rules- or apologize for what others do.

As for Ayers, the guy is not a 'current' terrorist and has for years been a member of Chicago education. Obama did not put him in power there. And the guy hasn't done crap wrong since back in the day. I'd consider that Palin who hangs around with radical groups including one where she's spoken out at meetings and her husband was a member of them in Alaska that wishes to secede from the U.S. and has done some serious crimes to show their efforts is more 'paling around' with terrorists than Obama is.

In the end, the KKK style rallies of Palin and McCain sicken me. Palin won't shut up and stirs up things with asking 'who is Obama' when we should be asking who she is. We've had 2 years now to know Obama and this woman who is pretty damn scary comes out of nowhere saying whatever to incite people. When a shaky woman says 'He's an Arab' and McCain says no he's not and the crowd boos at this... you know something is wrong.

I used to like McCain and I hope he loses so that he can do what he was good at which is being a senator that could cross aisles with others. He's gone so ultra right wing it is pathetic which before this he was not so bad. He used to be a delight to listen to. He's seriously become an old angry man that grits his teeth because he wants power and doesn't get how an upstart like Obama could take it away from him.

As for the Biden remark... I would trust Obama, who has been called all sorts of names by the McCain group, defaced, threatened etc, has managed to stay cool in the face of a helluva lot of adversity. If he can take this all and still sit there and smile and say neutral to kind things about McCain and Palin while they support lynch mobs nearly, though McCain has tried to lessen it somewhat, all I can say is he's cool under pressure and I trust him to make more rational decisions than a guy who can't keep his tongue in his mouth and grits his teeth. Obama isn't perfect, but to me he's the way better candidate that shows he will not only work on home policies but even the world seems to like him better, which would aid us in repairing damages done by Bush. McCain, had he tried to run his campaign as Reagan did, which reached out to both Reps and Dems, he'd have faired far better. He never should have tried to cater to the far right wingers that are idiots or the evangelicals. Big mistake.
