Guys, do try to be nice. People have different views on this and whether you agree with them or not, too bad. Also, the 'freedom of speech' argument doesn't work. If you are rude and obnoxious, you are. No one has to deal with it. If you disagree and voice things without trying to be vindictive or hostile, people do listen more instead of writing you off. Anyway, I really like so far the decisions Obama has done and the fact that the country seems to be loosening up some. I see people that are happy more while I am sure there are people gritting their teeth and saying he's going to ruin the country. It's nice to see though that the hate and fear mongers of the past few years finally do not have the strongest voices. I get sick of hearing bigoted and blanketed statements all of the time because some folks out there won't open their minds. For the last few days, people have been happier for the most part and the ambiance around just seems more hopeful. I am not Republican or Democrat really because I hate titles and the fact both parties really are owned a lot by corporations. One of the things that made me surprised about Obama's campaign was that the donations did not come from mainly lobbyists. That in itself was great because he won't owe so many favors as former presidents have in the past few years. He's also smart, can speak clearly and seems to be a lot calmer and is willing to be a level head instead of a brute. Some people seem to think Obama is going to bring disaster because he's not thinking of the dangers of the country and oh no, he'll take down the defenses GWB put up. Sad to say, terrorist attacks are going to happen whether we let the government suck away our personal freedoms or not. I'd rather live as an American by the Constitution than as an oppressed person under some dictator that tricks people into believing they can ever be safe while gaining more power. I really didn't vote for Obama because he's a guy of mixed background but to me it is a plus that says we are moving forward and a lot of people feel that momentum. It's inspiring them and some people may say 'big deal' but for some of us who are either black or of mixed backgrounds, this is a big accomplishment. I have hopes that it will make it possible that in the upcoming years we'll also see a female president that has some great ideas. I voted for Obama because I like his platform and his stance and feel he is more warm and yet can be firm on his stances and that other countries will actually want to deal with the guy because he's more tolerant of their ways of life and accepting and has a more open mind. Having an understanding of other cultures, even if they are against us...especially if they are against us, is a boon to me. We can work out problems better with someone that actually has a level voice. I'm also impressed with the staff he has chosen to be around him mostly and that he's brought in even people that do not agree with his stances so that he can hear many voices of reason instead of just a slanted side. Going off target, but on the whole, I'm glad this day has come and I wait to see what he's going to be capable of doing. I don't expect miracles but I do see already he's working on things and hopefully he can keep the energy in himself that has inspired and motivated others to want to help. The hype energy will die down, but if he does do a good job, we're going to keep a positive energy and maybe some of those who are negative about it will also turn around and at least admit he's not so bad. The thing with Obama though is that if he does good decisions or bad, we're all going to be watching more than we have with some former presidents because of the inspiration he's given to people. If he fails, he's going to be nailed for it. If he succeeds, people are going to be dancing around. I can hope in the end that people just remember that the poor guy is not going to be perfect.
I'm easy going. I will close it if things get bad. If not, I won't. I don't want to close a thread so that another is made on the same topic and people are even more angry at what happened. *yawn*
Most of them don't have god complexes and this isn't a war between 'premiums' and regular members. It's a situation where some people got together and acted silly and it messed with others. Let's not make this a 'us vs them' war thing. I am debating whether I should leave this open or not to let things be addressed or what. I really want this crap to stop but sometimes chatting it out is part of that process so I'll leave it open as an area to talk but keep it clean. No shots below the belt. As I said before, I know you guys are better than this. If you are bored or pissed off, go beat on a video game for a while. I may too. (eyes DMC4)
Damnit, now I hear Phil's voice again over and over. Ahhhhh! xD
I don't mind. We all get in arguments sometimes. I just have to ask now that we sort this stuff out or just move on and understand this is a forum and what happened is over. Some people went too far with things and they know who they are. Let's all not go overboard too and I really want to see things get back to normal here. It's starting to stress out a lot of people and this place should be fun. It should also be fun while not being at other people's expenses.
Salty, chill out. Next thing like that gets you a warning. I don't want to come down on you guys because I'd rather feel that we could all drop the stupid situation and move on but if some of you want to insist on continuing to be rude, I will.
Guys, seriously, chill. Let this topic go the way of the dinosaur already. Yes, some people were de-repped. Yes, some people did some things that hindered others and paid for it. You guys are better than this and I know it. If you really have issues, I would talk with any of you in PM or on MSN and we could try to settle this better, please. Let's let dead things lay dead already.
"People don't deserve the truth, they deserve something more...they deserve to believe, and for that belief they should be rewarded". I did not see this as necessarily a religious statement. I saw it more as in some people wanted to protect others from the truth that a guy who they admired and saw as a hero had changed into something that would have brought down their spirits as they were hoping for change because of what that man had inspired. To show he was a man with weaknesses and that he could be broken might make people go back to being jaded, when after so long they had begun to awaken and care about what was going on about them. Religion is a personal choice and to believe or not to is that way. I do not know if I would say that hiding a truth is a good thing for me in particular, because I understand that we are all human and bound to make errors in judgment or even do some incredibly stupid things when pushed. I would want to know the truth because I could take it. However, not to be down-talking of some people or to seem like I have a superiority complex but, some people can't handle the truth of what happens in some places due to the environment and circumstances being different from what they know. They can be very unforgiving, biased, fearful and full of hate when let down or shown that things aren't the way they expect them to be. Some people also break relatively easy from pressure. So, sometimes to keep the peace and hope alive after something tragic happens..well, you might just want to keep the bad thing quiet because it was dealt with and why cause extra pain to others who well, don't have your fortitude? I'm torn on this though. I like to think that we shouldn't shelter people too much. The mistakes happen all the time with kids not being educated about things because parents fear it will make kids want to do the stuff etc. We have a lot of funny misconceptions and I do tend to love the truth to be out there rather than made up stories. I have a hard time lying and I don't tend to sugar coat much. Some people can't stand it and think I'm a jerk while others think I'm different and refreshing for it. I think knowledge helps people grow and become better. However...I suppose now and then, a decision has to be made to cover something up to let some people get by who would otherwise be devastated or fearful or full of hatred. It's a tough thing to decide on that extreme thing though that would make me want to do that option. So no, I just don't see it as a religious statement at all. I saw it more as a philosophical, conscience issue instead.
Closing this since it would belong more in movies and there may be a thread there already on this movie.
I disagree with adding a specific section for 'religion' as really it just is not needed and the Debate and Discussion area would probably have more issues because it would be centralized. I do not want to have segregation etc and would rather things stay as they are where people can say things as they will and have varied discussions instead of singling out this topic. Also if we do it for this, we'd have to add a section for 'paranormal' for ghosts/aliens etc and other things people could come up with that are common topics. It just doesn't seem a positive thing at all to me to do and I agree with others that it will only cause flame fests.
Yeah, rep with names won't be happening. If anyone has problems where they feel bad rep is given without warrant, you can feel free to pm a staff member and we will be glad to look into the situation for you and remove it if it is unfair. I know sometimes that people who bad-rep and leave rotten messages etc can be annoying, but the procedure is set in place that rep can be good or bad and the person has the option to put his/her name in or not in the message. Not everyone wants to be known whether it is for positive or negative rep. Closing this since it won't be happening.
It's a game to pick out the lies from the truths. I'm bored enough to try.
........ *bump* ......
You know the rules on the site. If you have a problem regarding rep, PM a staff member and it will be looked into. Do not cause drama and post it here or elsewhere for attention. This is closed. If you want it looked into, follow the rules. Otherwise, live with it.
*sniffle sniffle* *cough* :( /wrists Leave Britney alone!
I am legally obliged to tell you that what you just drank wasn't Mountain Dew.
*climbs up on roof and takes the sniper rifle.* Alright, now to just wait for it to return. Then I've got that little bugger.
I seem to need a gun for this stalker cat. evil.
This isn't a venting thread about people on the forum that you have a hard time with. This is a -forum- and you need to take it less seriously. There are always going to be people out there do not get along well with others. Other people certainly aren't going to change by you calling them out and saying things like they should act like human beings...and then saying it's not 'bashing'. Closing this since it's bound to start fights because it's lame.
Closing this since it is unclear what is going on and people are just posting the same thing over asking.
