I can see why in school it is not permitted. It is kind of important to know when and where crass language is acceptable versus where it is inappropriate. In a class room, learning a subject etc, it's not really the right place to be using those kinds of terms and such. When at work, doing a job, it's the same, or at some formal gathering etc.

I have nothing wrong with cussing as I do it often, but will avoid doing so in some areas because it just isn't the right place for it. In school, in hallways and such, I cussed in high school, but really it was usually because I was ticked off at something. I don't really see so much of a problem with it then, but in the class rooms, it shouldn't be permitted. In a way, if you use other words as it is, it does help expand the vocabulary so it's not a bad thing to not allow cussing in school. Too many people do expect that they should be able to talk however amongst various crowds and it can get them in some trouble so it's a lesson best learned early on in life, where the worst you get is a detention. Later on, it can cost you jobs, friends in high places and such so it just makes sense to get it in your head early on.

No problem. I'm pretty laid back and like to let others figure out things on their own too in a way, but when it comes to this, I think it's better to speak and well, just say that you aren't trading up one thing for another and that you have room in your life for both. I don't get why some girls are like this, but they just are and it's better to try to fix it earlier than wait. Good luck with it.

I think in the end you might have to talk to your girlfriend and tell her that Spencer is your best friend and so he means a lot to you too. You might have to say 'Look, he's been my friend since 3rd grade and he's here to stay so it wouldn't hurt if you tried to get along with him', and well, say the same thing to him in another way of 'she's my girlfriend so could you try to get along with her'.

I've had to let a gf go before because she absolutely wanted to hate my best friend I had for years because she wanted me to herself or something. Hopefully, this gf you have will get the picture. Some people are -very- possessive and won't but being out front with it helps so that they understand and can make their choices. If she jumps in and starts if your friend asks you to do something, you may have to be firm and just say 'well yes, I'm going to go do that' so she gets it through her head. I wouldn't trade a best friend for a gf who you don't even know if things will work out with, if she's trying to force such a thing. That's a personal choice though because best friends have been around longer and because some girls (some guys too for opposite cases) are the jealous sorts that are very demanding, it's just a telltale sign early on that things might not work if she doesn't want to stop the behavior. The only way to know really is to confront both of them and say you are trying to make things work so it's up to them.

If I was that desperate to steal, I probably would not want to go after people direct and take their stuff. That would just amplify the crime in my mind. Stealing from a house with no one in it would be more my goal because I'd rather not hurt anyone who doesn't deserve it directly like mugging etc. If I really had to mug someone, being as I am, I'd choose people who mugged others. At least then I'd figure they got some karma.

I wouldn't lock the topic since the person who made it is gone. Others have a right to express their opinions on it and it's a general open topic so I see there's no reason to really close it.

My truest friends put up with me. xD We can insult each other playfully and know it's not to be taken serious. We also can tell each other our flaws without getting so offended and we help each other out. We can even be really mad at one another at times but yet even if we say stupid things when angry, we're always back to normal soon after because we know that what is said when in a bad mood is only part of the truth and is frustration. There's a comprehension there that makes a true friend more on the level of a good sibling. We get in trouble together, we goof around, we can be serious, and if someone is down, we have our ways of saying that things will get better and it isn't sugar-coated. It's honest. I have two great friends and I can be grateful for that. I've known them for years and when others move on or change their attitudes etc, I don't really mind it. It's better to me to have those couple good friends than to have a bunch of people around who are fair weather sorts.

He bears a resemblance. So what? They looked somewhat alike in the FF VIII game too. He's still meant to be Squall Leonhart, hence Leon. Laguna's last name was Loire. He still looks like Squall as well with the telltale scars and it -is- Squall for all intents and purposes, whether he's grown out his hair some and wears a coat similar to Laguna's.

In the end the author of that article is just pointing out that it is further evidence to prove that Squall is indeed Laguna's son. In the FF VIII game, I think 99.9% of people gathered that anyway so the article is rather a mute point. Also, as others pointed out, Ellone is Squall's adopted sister as Laguna and Raine adopted her at some point.

    Suicide.

Sorry to disagree here but most people I've known who committed suicide, as well as other people who can say they've had friends who committed suicide... say pretty much the same things. The suicidal person is not talkative or certainly doesn't let on there is much of a problem. The person tends to be withdrawn and does not mention suicidal thoughts at all. This is the majority of the time.

The ones who cry out and such are still fighting and debating. Some are just drama whores. I know when I seriously pondered suicide I never told anyone until one day I blurted it out at my mother who was beating the crap out of me when I just told her to 'kill me already' because I couldn't take it anymore. Suicide is a self-absorbed and self-focused thing. It's not right to blame their friends and such. Also, friends can only do so much. If those people out there who proclaim they want to commit suicide all the time actually do it, in general it's because they were experimenting and botched.

    Suicide.

I can hear what you are saying. I've lost some people in my life due to suicide and yes, it's very frustrating. It's even more frustrating at times to hear people go on and talk about killing themselves for attention.

I take this as a rant that needed to be gotten out because anyone that's had to listen to people go on like this or see people go this route, well...it's bound to upset and tick you off after a while. Sometimes I get to the point with a couple people where I just want to say 'so go get a gun already' because it gets so old and grating on the nerves.

What is being said may sound cold, but it's not really. It's anger and irritation, so in other words, a vent. People taking offense to a vent really, I don't get why you are. We all get fed up with some things others do around us that seem so self-destructive and the reason why is because we care but can't do anything about it.

Having said that, I can't say in my life I haven't ever pondered the notion of suicide. My family background was very abusive and I had to deal with idiots at school who were bullies and it made me a rather angry person at myself and others around me. However, I got over the period, realizing that sooner or later I was going to be free of the parents and I learned to stand up to the bullies, so much in fact that I probably went overboard with my vigilante ways. xD In the end, I've made mistakes based on mistakes and it took some time to calm down and when I was ready I left home and made a new life. Suicide is the easy way out of things and also the empty choice that gives someone a dead end road. If someone is actually having problems and all, because I've been through enough in my life, I certainly can empathize and want to help them out. Life does get better as long as you don't set too big of expectations on things for yourself or others and can learn to let go of hate for yourself and others.

I sympathize with the frustration Pop Tart has and well, I hope you do feel better in some ways having said so. However, remember that different people handle stress differently. Sometimes they just are not taught or cannot think of alternatives and so others might have to occasionally be a voice of reason for those we care about. If they are going to press on though, they do sometimes need more help than friends can give. Then, things become muddled and the suicidal person starts bringing everyone else who cares down with him/her. This is when those of us on the other side of the fence need to think as to what our courses of actions will be and how deep we allow ourselves to be immersed. If you really care, as frustrating as it is, you know you are going to be there, whether you are cussing up a storm mentally or not. We can only hope we do the right things for people who are in this frame of mind and at the same time, later they are fine and get out of the mode and see that life is short as it is and there are other things to see than depression and the negative things around them that bring them down. Most of the time, people do get out of a suicidal thought tendency, fortunately, so whether I have to back away from the person for a while because I just can't tackle the situation, or I have to jump in and encourage them to live or find a way to get some real help, I try to keep hope that the person will be alright and someday look back as I do and say 'what the hell was I thinking?'.

As for the 'positive reinforcement' thing... Everyone I know happens to know that I don't sugarcoat much at all in life and yet an amazing amount of people come to me for some reason, asking advice or just want someone to hear their problems etc. I think there are more people out there that want -the truth- than they want things to seem all positive and such. Life is both what you make of it and what you do with what you've got. I don't think people should yell at someone who's delving in suicidal thoughts often, (or at all really because who listens to someone who's screaming and yelling much) but I will say that sometimes harsh and true words cut through some of the angst and pain better than kind typical words will. It really depends on the situation and what's going on. It's never good to just stereotype suicidal people, same as it isn't good to stereotype anyone really. Each case depends on the person and some of us out there just want what's real and to find purpose in that.

XBoX Live should have banned the offenders instead. I do think this is wrong. I've played on Halo games and been ..well not astonished.. but just kind of surprised at the crap the players will say to one another. There are a lot of things not monitored on XBoX Live and just because someone puts in a profile their sexual orientation, it seems rather childish to ban that while others are running around calling people all sorts of profane stuff.

I will say though that I do think it's also kind of silly though to put in her profile that she is a lesbian. Like others are going to put in their profiles that they are heterosexual or whatever. It's not a reason to ban her but still, it seems she wanted some attention and received some ill attention for it.

I agree with this as well. If I was broke, rather homeless and all that, especially if I had others to care for too, well, it would be a matter that would be hard pressed to say no to. Desperate times sometimes call for desperate measures. However, I'd still know what I was doing could harm someone else as well and it is still stealing and wrong. In a desperate situation like that it is more forgiving, but nonetheless, it's taking something from someone else and obviously not having permission.
