Hmm, well I believe that Sora didn't talk as much in the original so that aspect of his "happy-go-lucky-character" wasn't shown as much there. In KH2, they obviously gave him more lines to showcase that optimism. Basically, he had had that part in him throughout the series... just not as shown much through just action.
