Sora's mom forgetting him wouldn't mean she is a bad mom. It wouldn't really be her fault, (SPOILERS) considering Namine' was taking the memories from Sora's heart and reconstructing them. In doing that, everyone who knew Sora had forgotten him. Kairi still slightly remembered him, because of her connection to Sora. Plust, they didn't actually forget Sora, they had just suddenly remembered him at the same time. (Off topic) Overall, parents (once again) are just assumed to be there.

Well, the game is based on a group of teenagers, so no one really cares about the parents; answering the question why they don't show any. No need to show the parents, so why put them in there? Sora has a mom, but they only put her in there to show that there are parents in the town/city/wherever they are.
