This totally reminds me of a Goosebumps book about a camera that would bring unfortune to whoever was in the picture, like "make" an ill and quite near future like a car accident. Your battle idea kinda sounds like what Zexion's book pages does to Sora and co.

I thought my family was just Norwegian, though long long ago on my father side of the family we were descendants of Baron Aksel Mowatt, who died in a sword dual against some guy wanting his daughter. And further back there's traces back to Holland. I guess I'm a little Hollandish by tiny amounts of %... Awesome.

OMG, yes! >< You always fall off that things back and get spammed with the lazer attack something it uses.. One of the most annoying bosses, I swear. And Pete kicks my butt when in Timeless River, I hate that place so much. It's so..... creepy. Sometimes Dr. Finklestein's experiment gives me trouble when splitting up.
While we're in the subject of animes, I'm currently watching Rozen Maiden. Kanaria needs more love. :<
