    *in before flame*

I think this guy's just in the beginning stage, which is when EVERYONE will copy something to learn. It shouldn't be a shocker.. This is how I started learning about propotions (not accurate but still), it's just extremly rare that someone makes a perfect drawing without practicing by "copying" first. As long as the original idea behind the original art isn't taken advantage of (selling it in your own name for example), I guess it's OK. Because it's obvious that this is only the beginning of this person's future in drawing.

Though I will repeat my suggestion - get out of the safety box. Try to build up your own poses. It's scary at first but it will help you improve.

The one I'm in seems like it's a busy little club. Or not little.... Just glad I'm not part of the staff. *shrugs* Though some of them members posted some real treasures of fanart... *loves the insane Mello chasing Spongebob*

Plenty... But I prefer being grateful for what I actually got.

    But since it's a topic.....

I wanted to learn self defence. Martial art style. I'm not sure if Tai Chi counts but I was thinking more like Tekken style.

Not shabby at all! Minor nitpicks tho, like the adams apple on the throat is too low.

But you got the most basic parts right, so you study the original drawing well. May I suggest that you try to draw something from your own mind? I'm not saying that it shouldn't be fanart, but try to not rely too much on what has already been drawn. Try to make your own poses and expressions, it will give you much more freedom when drawing. A good suggestion to you is to start with a stickfigure when you draw your poses, then work from there.

Well, since the movement goes back and forth it gives me the impression that the (mael)storm isn't spinning into the center - it's more like it's breathing/inhaling, in and out, like a live creature. Making it spin all the way would take more work tho if I recall it right.

But now that I spotted them, what's the white stuff in the far left and right edges?
