At least you have anime conventions in your country.. *sits in emo corner* But it would be smart to find out everything you can about the convention. It they have information about the location, time of day, prize, about the people holding the convention - then I think you can make some good arguments to your mother about it. Though if you can avoid it, you shouldn't go alone. The bigger the place the worse it is to go alone.
Second. Not the lack of MSN, but rather timezone issue.
