Oh boy... Couple of things man. Have you installed any new drivers or changed any Bios settings lately? It definately sounds like you have some corrupted windows files... but if you haven't made any driver or bios changes lately, it may be something else. What I would suggest is get a hold of a your windows xp boot disk and do something called a "repair install". What it will do is repair any corrupted or missing files (won't delete your applications or screw your settings). You need to be careful when doing it though.
