Disclaimer: I am not licensed psychologist or a psychiatrist. It sounded like you were describing what people usually think of as OCD(Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). People think it's stuff like having to separate your M&Ms by color or something. It's more like: 'I have to wash my hands five times and then I have to turn the lights on and off exactly five times.' And if you can't perform these tasks, it's the end of the world. OCD is characterized by thoughts and fears(obsessions) that then lead to repetitive behaviors(compulsions). A compulsive behavior might be comforting to ease anxiety. ADD(Attention Deficit Disorder) is usually stereotyped as 'omg I am so ADD. I couldn't focus at all in class today'. Yeah, okay. We all have times where we just cannot focus. I can admit to that. But when it's more like: 'Yeah, I had trouble focusing in class today and everyday. I can never sit still and I interrupt my friends when they're talking. And I think it's starting to have an impact on my everyday life.' Then you might actually have ADD or ADHD(Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).
