❥ Crestatia's presence seemed to settle everyone down. She had that air about her that commanded attention. Once upon a time, she would have envied that. Now, Marina just wished to fade into the shadows. ⦇ What an interesting cast of Players we have here ... Though more may be arriving before the Hall closes, I suggest we begin. Welcome to Redemption! A game Coordinated by one of our most recently admitted immortals. Marina - it is customary of you to tell us about the game board before we begin so that we may add our own pawns and place our bets. ⦈ With a reiterating nod, Crestatia took her own seat at one of the narrow ends of the table. Marina took that as her cue to begin and rose to her feet. She licked her upper lip slowly and set a stack of playing cards down on the table, along with a large sheet of paper. There were markings all over it and she clicked her tongue to the roof of her mouth. ⦇ Thank you for that introduction Crestatia. For Redemption, I need everyone to be so kind as to draw one card for each of the pawns you intend to start with. If you add more pawns later, they will just be thrown into the fray. ⦈ Marina leaned forward, setting the cards in the center of the table, picking two for herself and setting them face up. Hearts and diamonds -- Harley and Theodore would be on separate teams. The heavy weight in her chest thickened. She forced a smile on her face as everyone else drew. While they were busy with that, she spread out the sheet and held it up for the rest to see. ⦇ This will be their gameboard. It is a labyrinth, as you can see. The pawns will start out in four teams and their memories will lead them to believe that they were each abducted and forced into this wicked game. These six big sections here, are filled with traps and supplies. There will be a series of wild and dangerous animals in the maze to help speed things along. ⦈ She set the map down and pulled out a list of rules for the pawns and placed it on top of the map. Marina scribbled the name of the gameboard at the top. ⦇ These will be marked on the walls in each of their 'bases,' along with what team they are. ⦈ She passed around the guidelines. There was a satisfied grin on her face, though she did not feel pleased with herself for what she was doing. Her blue eyes passed over Crestatia briefly, before returning to the center of the table. ⦇ I do hope this is a decent start for my first game. ⦈ Her tone was all professional and seeking no room for advice.♕ XX XX XX
"Yeah, s-sure," JOSLYN REPLIED. LEON THANKED HER QUIETLY AS SHE DISAPPEARED BACK INTO THE HOTEL. IT TOOK SOME TIME FOR HER TO RETURN, AND DURING SO, HE DID NOT MOVE. HIS MIND WAS A BLANK CANVAS AND HIS HANDS MOVED IDLY THROUGH THE SAND. LEON BARELY HEARD JOSLYN'S EVENTUAL RETURN. SHE HELD OUT A COFFEE CAN. "Here, maybe t-this will do." HE SIGHED AND ACCEPTED THE CAN. "IT WILL DO FOR NOW. THANK YOU." LEON SCOOPED UP A HANDFUL OF ASH AND DIRT MIXTURE, POURING IT INTO THE CAN. HE MURMURED A BLESSING AS THE LAST OF IT SLIPPED THROUGH HIS FINGERS AND ROSE TO HIS FEET, DUSTING HIMSELF OFF. LEON PAT THE TOP OF JOSLYN'S HEAD AND LOOKED AROUND AIMLESSLY. "IT'S TIME FOR US TO GO." IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG TO GATHER THE OTHERS AND HEAD FOR THE PLANE. EVERYONE SEEMED IN A RATHER SUBDUED MOOD. THIS NO DOUBT WAS CAUSED BY YESTERDAY'S EVENTS. THEY NEEDED TO KEEP MOVING. THE COMPASS WOULD GUIDE THEM BACK TO THE OTHERS, ALONG WITH HELPING THEM FIND THOSE THAT WERE YET TO BE RECRUITED. THEY WOULDN'T SPLIT UP UNTIL THEY HAD FULLY REGROUPED. RAZIEL STILL WAS UNAWARE OF WHAT HAPPENED TO URIEL, ALTHOUGH, LEON DIDN'T DOUBT THAT THE ANGEL OF MYSTERIES ALREADY KNEW. RAZIEL HAD A WAY OF JUST KNOWING. HE CURLED UP IN THE SEAT ON THE PLANE, STARING ABSENTLY OUT THE WINDOW. THE COFFEE CAN SAT CLUTCHED IN HIS HAND AND HIS EYELIDS WERE HEAVY. LEON DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING TO ANYONE ELSE ONCE ON THE PLANE. HE WAS LEFT TO HIS OWN DEVICES, AND HE PREFERRED IT THAT WAY. IT WAS HARD TO SLEEP UNDER SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES, BUT SOMEHOW HE MANAGED. Lu sighed in annoyance. "I've grown bored of you all already." She pressed her pointer finger to the foreheads of each of them, reenacting the sleeping spell. She had lost all motivation listening to them drone on and on. Tomorrow. Tomorrow they would be sacrificed for sure. Then, she would be even more powerful than Lucifer and Leviathan put together. Cal shook her head. She was getting fed up with all of them -- Mali and Soren's bickering, Caius's self - pity. "Caius, that's enough. We're not going to leave you here. You don't belong here, no matter what your father did to you. Mali, you're not staying. You're coming with us whether you like it or not. You're the only one that has been to the surface and can successfully guide us anywhere. Soren --" she looked at him crossly, "You're going to get rest and I'll stay up with Caius. This is going to suck up every ounce of energy you've got, which means you need to rest, lest it kill you." She rose to her feet, pushing everyone to their respective beds. Cal wasn't taking no for an answer. "I don't want to hear another word out of anyone." She looked to each of their beds with fire in her eyes, before taking a seat on the edge of Caius's. Cal cleaned up the mess on his bed and continued to wipe away any remnants of his earlier fight from his body. She gave him a look that said, 'I dare you to speak.'
Cal had started to clean Caius up better and smear the salve over his wounds, along with bandaging him up. She really didn't know much about healing people. Alistair was a doctor. If he were here, he could help Caius, unfortunately, he left with Lu. Cal did what she could for the time being. "Anna, get some blankets. If it's cold where we're going we can't have anyone freezing. His sister nodded and left Caius's bedside, giving a cold glare to Mali. "We still have to leave tonight, Cal. I don't know what Regulus is up to and we can't stick around to find out." Soren pulled out a shard of glass and she eyed it curiously. He looked at it for a minute before putting it away and assisting her. "Soren, Caius isn't in any condition for this kind of travel. None of us have ever even used the mist to create portals. It's going to take all of our energy and if we all pass out, who's going to help Caius? Not to mention, we need to have a specific person or destination in mind. The only one that has been to Midworld is Mali and I doubt you want to portal up to Lu and Alistair." Mali leaned on her sister's head and poked Caius in the chest. "I'm not going, so good luck on that front." "Mali! You can't just stay here." Her sister clicked her tongue to the roof of her mouth and prodded at Caius's bleeding chest some more. "Like I told Boyfriend 1, I have no reason to leave. I like it here and you don't know what it's like up there. I don't see a reason to go back. Everything I need is already here."
The answer to her question surprisingly came from Henrik, or more specifically, Araquiel. "Long time, no see." he greeted. Lu pursed her lips and narrowed her brown eyebrow at him. "You could say that Araquiel." He had yet to actually speak to her in all the times she had encountered Henrik. This was a slight shock, but not enough to deter her. "I see you've replaced me with a new running buddy. Angel of Death, huh? I wouldn't say that's too much of a downgrade, but he's hardly-" He sniffed the air and coughed in disgust. "Slutting it up with him, have you? Ugh, I smell him all over you." She yawned in boredom. "Sounds like somebody is jealous. Not that I blame you." He rolled his eyes. "Come, Lu, just because you nabbed Henrik's children doesn't mean I hold a grudge against you. Old friends should stick together." The corners of her eyes pinched together as she smiled down at the fellow angel in her binds. Lu knelt back down in front of him and clapped her hands on his cheeks, pulling Henrik's face closer to her own. "Cute. It's almost laughable how you think that might work on me. While you may not actually hold a grudge against me Araquiel, I offered you the opportunity for an alliance when we first met, did I not? Because I clearly remember doing so. You let little ol' Henrik turn me down. Why on earth would I believe that the moment I release you, you wouldn't let him turn his back on me? I am well aware of his little toys he has on him right now. If I accept your offer of 'sticking together' as you put it, and let you go, he'll just try stabbing me with his knife and then what? I won't have anyone to do this for me, like I've done for Harbonah." Lu pulled out the compact mirror with Spirit - Harbonah inside.
Lu licked her lips as she stood in the darkness. She clapped her hands together and balls of fire glowed from the walls of the pyramid. Sal's smart mouth opened up to speak to her. He was almost as bad as Alistair. "My my, Temeluchus, we have to stop being in situations like these. Something vile cooked up for us once more I suppose?" She knelt down on one knee and lifted chin with her pointer finger. Lu pressed her lips together and smiled darkly at the boy. "You could say that Pet. I say it's about time we get started, don't you?" Her blue eye shifted to Henrik looking disgruntled as always. She stepped away from Sal and cocked her head to the side, clapping her hands together enthusiastically. "Henrik dear, did you miss me? You look like it. How's your arm?" Lu ran her thumb over his cheek, to Henrik's disapproval. She wet her lips and rose to her feet. The other one -- his name was slipping from memory -- remained silent beside Sal, glowering up at her from his spot on the floor. "Oh come on now. You all look so grump, save for Sal, when you should be happy. You have an important role to play as sacrifices. You should be rejoicing knowing that this is all almost over for you. Shall we get started?" She flicked her wrist and mist engulfed them. When it cleared, they were stationed at the top of the pyramid. Alistair was close by, though she paid him little attention. "Now then, I say it's time for the fun part to begin. Who wants to go first, hm?" The sound of the door opening put Cal on high alert. As soon as she could see Soren entering the room with a beaten Caius hanging from his arm, she was on her feet. Soren carried the other boy over to his bed, laying him down. Cal rushed to his side, her heart visibly breaking in her chest. Caius looked awful. He should never have gone to his father, but she wouldn't tell him that. It was his decision to make, albeit, a bad one. "Regulus...got away. I had to bring him back." Him being Caius. Cal knelt down beside him and started to fiddle with some of the wounds on his body. She didn't really no much about medicine, but would do her best to try. Soren shook his head and looked between Cal and Anna. Lowering his voice, he said: "Caius attacked me too, but I don't think it was his fault." "What?! Are you sure...? Are you okay?" asked Anna. Soren nodded for both questions and rubbed his forehead. "I should have been there sooner." He paused before adding, "Mali's getting some things from the operating room." He turned to her and she just shook her head at him. "Regulus did something to Caius. It's not his fault and it's most certainly not yours either. Had you been there sooner would probably have made little difference. He chose to confront his father. It was something that he would have to do eventually, sadly the outcome wasn't ideal." She bit her lower lip with concern. Cal got up to retrieve something to wipe away at some of the blood on Caius's body. She started clean him up when Mali came sauntering into the room. "Here," her sister tossed a wad of bandages and some salve. Cal scrambled to grab everything and cocked an annoyed brow. "That's it?" "Hey, I don't know what an injured person needs. I don't get hurt while fighting." LEON WAS INTENTLY FOCUSED ON THE DIRT ON THE GROUND. HE DIDN'T HEAR THE APPROACH OF THE YOUNG ANGEL UNTIL SHE WAS RIGHT BESIDE HIM. "Hey, L-Leon. How are you h-h-holding up?" SHE ASKED HIM. HE LIFTED HIS HEAD. HIS USUAL GOLDEN EYES WERE DULL AND LIFELESS. HE GAVE THE GIRL A SMALL NOD WITH A HEAVY SIGH. "HI JOSLYN, AZAZEL." LEON LOWERED HIS GAZE AND DUG HIS FINGERS INTO THE DIRT, BRUSHING OFF HER QUESTION. "JOSLYN, COULD YOU DO ME A FAVOR?" HE ASKED SOLEMNLY. "COULD YOU TRY TO FIND ME A SMALL BOTTLE OF SOME KIND IN THE HOTEL. WE NEED TO LEAVE, BUT I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE WITHOUT URIEL."

Anna was kicking aimlessly at the floor while Cal fiddled with the locket around her neck. They were both growing impatient. It was taking too long for Soren to return and her thoughts kept wandering to what might be going on with Caius. The sound of Anna's voice was the only thing to break Cal's trance - like state. "When they come back, where will we go? I have a feeling that Soren wants us to get away from everyone and everything. But I don't think he even knows where that is...You've used the mirror room the most. Where do you think we should go?" She lifted her head slowly and looked thoughtful. Short blonde locks shifted back and forth as she shook her head. Cal really had no idea where they might go. If Soren was attempting to make a portal, they needed to be specific on the location. She didn't really know any destinations in Midworld and the only person she could think of was Alistair, who was currently with Lu. That didn't leave them with a lot of options. "I'm not sure where we're supposed to go. We have to have a specific person or place in mind before passing through or we could wind up just about anywhere, not to mention, be ripped to pieces from the mist. We have to know the place we want to go if we're not choosing a person and the only one that has gone to Midworld is Mali." She didn't see her sister being very helpful on this front. Mali would probably have them wind up some place unbearable as a joke. Mali grew bored of sitting in the hall rather quickly. There was a lot more noise coming from downstairs and she was starting to get jealous. She wanted to knock some heads around as well. Tch -- bunch of losers they all were. Mali sighed out of boredom until she saw a tired looking Soren dragging a worse - for -wear Caius up the stairs. That was interesting. Maybe something good would come out of today. It was so cute to see Boyfriend 1 and Boyfriend 2 getting along like this. It made her heart melt -- not really. She got to her feet just as Soren approached and started to shout more commands at her. Who did he think she was, her sister? Soren wasn't the boss of her. "Get some supplies from the operating room! I'll bring him back to our room. Hurry up!" Mali rolled her eyes and followed after, sticking close to Soren and Caius, without providing either of them any help. "And why should I do that, Stupid? What has Caius done for me? Nothing last I checked. It's his fault he's injured, after all." "What the hell's wrong with you? He's one of us! All we have is each other and you'd rather see him bleed out?" She waved her finger in his face as they started to round the corner to their hall. "Correction: all you have is each other. I have plenty of other people. I didn't turn my back on the adults here. I have no problem with them. I quite like it here and I'd rather see Caius -- and the rest of you -- learn from his idiot mistakes than coddle him. Do you really think a bunch of bandages are going to do him any good?" she asked as they reached the door to their room. Mali didn't wait for a reply. She flipped her long blonde hair over her shoulder and skipped the short distance to the operating room. She hesitated at the entrance and turned her head back to check over her shoulder. "Just so you know, I'm only doing this 'cause I'm bored, not because I actually feel like being helpful."
Hmph. Stupid really was as dumbbell as he looked if he honestly believed she would do as he told her. Mali had no intention of running off with the rest of them. She liked it here. She enjoyed mindlessly killing demons and causing trouble for others. The rest of them were too weak-minded to handle it, it seemed. Too bad for them. Mali took a seat on the hallways floor, legs crossed. She would wait. If any monsters trued to cross her path in the mean time, they wouldn't stand a chance. "Where do you think Caius is?" Cal looked up at Anna mournfully. "With his father," she said with a whisper. If Soren really was having a hard time finding the other boy, that was why. Cal had hoped Caius would be done with that man, but it did not appear so. She thumbed at the locket some more while pulling her legs up to her chest. "Soren's probably out checking the basement." Said Anna. Cal sighed. She hoped not. "I told him not to go down there. Stupid." Calamitosum shook her head in dismay. Soren would go down to the basement when it was dangerous. He was so reckless. "We could go after him..." suggested Anna. Cal looked at her incredulously and the raven - haired girl immediately changed her mind. "Never mind ... but I don't like waiting." "Me neither," Cal agreed. "I don't believe you for a second. The knives destroy souls don't they? I doubt her soul even left her body before it got destroyed..." Lu smirked, pleased with herself. The mirror reappeared and she stroked the glass affectionately. A disgruntled Harbonah crossed her arms and scowled through the glass. "If you say so Pet. It's too late for you to really learn much of the truth anyway. You'll die with the rest of those fools being sacrificed here, but--" her grin grew wider as she looked straight through Adam's eyes to his soul, "Semyaza, don't you think it will eat at you for the rest of your existence? That nagging feeling of uncertainty that tugs at the back of your mind -- it will be for this moment, never really knowing if Harbonah died or not. Oh well." Temeluchas lifted Adam up by his shirt collar and let his feet dangle over the edge. "It's been fun playing games with you Pet." she whispered to him before throwing the boy back towards the wall of the pyramid. A dark portal opened up, letting Adam fall through it, back into the darkness, with the Chief Angel of Torment following slowly after.
"Caius! Mali!" Mali walked down the staircase, having just come in from outside. That was Soren's voice. What was he shouting about now and why did he need both Caius and herself? Stupid. If this had anything to do with that ridiculous talk yesterday, he was just wasting his time. She jumped over the last three steps and landed lightly on the floor to the housing rooms. Noises were coming from down the hall and to the right. She could only figure it had something to do with Soren. She rolled her eyes and turned down the corner to see him headed for the basement. "Hey Stupid!" she called out, "You're not gonna wanna go down there." Mali approached the boy slowly with her hands in her back pockets. She blew some stray hair out of her face and looked at him curiously. "Watch ya doin' stupid?" Cal sat back down on her bed after Soren left. She didn't like just sitting idly by, but it was better if they didn't disperse too much. It was less people to track down later. Cal tapped her foot impatiently against the floor. How long would it take for Soren to find her twin and Caius? There was some shouting and growls which left a sinking feeling within her. "I think Soren's having trouble finding them." "Yeah, it sounds like it." Where might they be? It usually wasn't too hard to find anyone in this place. They all had their own usual spots to go it. "Why would Mali leave? And Caius?" asked Anna. She bit down on her lip in concern. "I'm not sure what Mali does, just that she's rarely around. Why she left probably has something to do with where she goes. I'm afraid she's a lot more like Lu than the rest of us. As for Caius ... I have a feeling I know where he went, and it's probably not going to end well." Cal reached for the locket around her neck and wrapped her fingers over the pendant. "Almost as much as you like your own agenda. What are you even doing? Just a few months ago... ...You were training me for Lucifer's plans. Now he wants you dead." Temeluchas started to laugh. She lifted her foot to his chest and gave the boy a slight nudge, closer to the edge. "That's so cute. Danel is pretty creative when it comes to spinning tails. You mean you actually believed that story? The Morning Star doesn't want me dead. That was just a ploy to mess with your group. Doesn't matter anymore. You're all going to die now anyway. You don't appear to be on our side anymore. I wonder what Harbonah would have to say..." Her blue eye darkened and her smile twisted into a sneer. She flicked her wrist and a compact mirror appeared in the palm of her hand, shrouded in mist. Lu held it up for Adam to see. Instead of a reflection, the looking glass held the miniature shape of a long, white - haired woman pounding on the glass and silently calling for help. "You didn't honestly believe there was no point to Alistair helping Harbonah after she was stabbed, did you? His assistance allowed for me to catch her soul after it left her body." She gave him a sharp, toothy grin and the mirror disappeared.
❥ Marina sat there impatiently watching the other Valen go back and forth like a bunch of children. Honestly, this was just annoying. For immortals, they were childlike. It rather infuriated her. Was this how they were while she and the others fought for their lives? They all just joked around and played pranks on one another the entire time? This really was just a game to them. She wanted to break all their legs after Kuru's last comment. Marina still had phantom pains over the snapping of her legs in Days. She winced before looking away with a sigh and reseated herself. A large figure appeared in the room out of nowhere. It must have been one of his powers. Some of the Valen had rather interesting powers, while others were the typical comic book powers people usually pictured. Marina pursed her lips as he made his entrance to the room. She really didn't want to spend the rest of eternity with these people. They only filled her with loathing. Was this how it was going to be from now on? She would resent them all until enough time passed where she was the same as them and no longer viewed herself as the outsider? Marina did not wish to be anything like the rest of them. ⦇ Well hello there, ⦈ the man approached with a greeting. A wolf whistle escaped him as he admired her appearance. Typical. Marina forced a playful smile on her lips and batted her dark lashes at the man. ⦇ I gotta say, you are one fine specimen. ⦈ ⦇ Hey...that's no way to greet a lady... ⦈ Asterion interjected. Marina held a hand up, placing it lightly on Asterion's shoulder. She smiled graciously at him and gave a nod to the newcomer. ⦇ Thank you Asterion, but it is not necessary. I know how to deal with this type of behavior. ⦈ She rose to her feet and circled the red - haired man, one finger trailing lightly over his shoulders. She came to a stop in front of him, inches from his face. ⦇ It is a pleasure to meet you as well. ⦈ Marina gave him a wink before taking her seat once more in time for more unfamiliar faces to greet her. ⦇ Hello there, one-called-Marina. I am Sienna, and I am delighted to meet you. ⦈ ⦇ Why hello there my immortal buddies. ⦈ Another voice joined the fray and Marina looked up to see a young brunette male walk in with a flower in his hand. She gave him a smile from across the room before returning her attention to the one that just greeted her. ⦇ It is a pleasure Sienna, ⦈ she nodded curtly. The boy approached Marina first and she looked over to him before holding a hand up. ⦇ If you do not mind, I have more players to greet. ⦈ She turned away from the girl to face the boy now beside her. ⦇ Name's Johnis. ⦈ he introduced himself. ⦇ Sorry that I don't really know who you are, I didn't pay attention to the game you were apart of so yeah. ⦈ ⦇ That is just fine. I do not expect everyone to know of me. I am Marina, ⦈ she replied sweetly. ⦇ Oh right! Here you go, ⦈ he handed the flower to her -- a rose, ⦇ a welcome present. Anyway, hope we can both have fun in this game. ⦈ ⦇ Thank you, really. That is a kind gesture. ⦈ Her thumb and forefinger ran lightly over the petals of the rose and she sniffed it light. Her lids drooped as she soaked in the sweet aroma of the flower and when her gaze lifted once more, Johnis had already moved on. The others seemed to go about their business as they had been. There were still a few key Valen missing and until they arrived, things could not start. She really hoped not to drag this out any longer. ⦇ Don't be shy!
