I use hit and run tactics most of the time I run in start attacking run away heal then attack and sometimes and heal party memebers that can do something aka tarzan in lost jungle when you dont have cure.
Personaly I think the most logical thing is that its a new character that we have not seen before so I dont think he is a heartless or a nobody.

I used Magic over summon my most common magic is blizzard but reflect is probably the best
