Edward put his hand down, seeing that Elizabeth really didn't want to be friendly. That's alright, he thought. Wouldn't want to bother her... He gasped at Van Helsing's rude comment, and then tried to clear the air. "Why don't we all go have a drink and send Lexi to the stables? I know I'm tired from that long ride."

"Hi, my name is Edward," he said, trying to be polite. "Mr. Van Helsing offered to give me a ride here last night when he realized he had to turn around and come back. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Edward looked around as the procession of mourners started to thin. "This place really is God forsaken, isn't it?" he said softly. Van Helsing only nodded.
A few hours later, the town started to come into view. "I see it," Edward said sleepily, shaking his head from where he sat behind Van Helsing. "What do you intend to do?" "Well, this time I will get a room at the Inn, put up Lexi (the horse lol) and have a good drink with you. Then, after I'm sure the girls will come over and yell or talk to us, we can deal with vampire business." "Vampire business," Edwards repeated. "Listen, 'the girls' sound nice and all... well, not really by their descriptions you gave me, but... is there anyone else interesting?" "Edward, it's an ugly town in the middle of an empty country full of mean people and evil creatures..." the other man sighed. "You do you think?"

"A few hours," he replied. "Listen, there are some girls there that you should know about..." "Girls?" Edward said, excited and confused at the same time. "You know girls..." "Who's him?" the man asked, removing his gaze from Edward to look at the shallow cut in his arm from the woman werewolf's dagger. It wasn't bleeding anymore and seemed alright. "Van Helsing!" he whispered. "The murderer... the one we're supposed to fear! You should have killedme by--" "I can just do it now and save myself the trouble of your rambling," Van Helsing cut in, looking at the man again now. "Sorry," Edward said, shaking once more. "I'm just grateful you've let me live." Van Helsing suddenly saw a large, dark form flying over Edward's shoulder. He pulled one of his guns once more and aimed it at the sky. Edward screamed and fell to the ground. "Relax," Van Helsing said, almost to himself. "It's my letter... back so fast, are you?" he said to the bird, which landed on a large boulder next to him. He took the note off its leg as Edward rose from the ground, blushing and brushing the dirt off his front. "D.amn them all to hell!" Van Helsing swore after a moment. Edward was silent. The other man looked up at him. "Sorry," he said now. "Rude of me. It's a letter from Rome. Vampire warnings from the town I justcame from. I've got to go back." I know exactly who they're about, too,he thought, thinking of Jinx and possibly Elizabeth. Gods, why couldn't they have told me when I was still there?!] "Take me with you," Edward began suddenly. Van Helsing let out a loud laugh. "You should be dead!" he exclaimed, holstering his guns and turning to leave. "Go home." "I haven't a home!" he insisted, picking up his daggers and following Van Helsing. "Please, the werewolf that turned my family works for Dracula! They all work for him now, and I want more than anything to help you kill him! I need your help!" "And what's to happen at the full moon?" Van Helsing said, walking faster and shaking his head. Edward gazed at the killer in front of him. "What do you mean?" he asked, his arms still shaking. He... this man... whoever he is... just killed seven men and women without blinking! What kind of person am I looking at? "I heard you all talking," the man replied. "The only reason you're alive and not bleeding out is because you've claimed to never have shed innocent blood. Should I stand corrected?" "No, no!" Edward insisted. "I... I was bit as a child... the rest of my family was attacked as well. I've been hiding my whole life.
