??? Except I said absolutely nothing about moving on. All I said was that racism is racism regardless of who it's directed at, and to think otherwise is a double standard and naive.
Saying that racism is only racism if it's directed at a minority is a huge double standard. Discrimination based on race is racism, plain and simple.
Maybe by strong female characters they mean characters that embody whatever qualities are deemed appropriate by whatever time period or whatever popular movement? Imo a strong character isn't pushing an agenda. Gail Simone's characters are awesome because they're not doing that. They're just well-written characters who are female.
why do distinctions have to be made on gender or sex? a strong character is a strong character. I was talking about Gail Simone earlier, she's known in the comicbook business for being one of the best (the best imo) writers for female characters because of the way she portrays them. Having read some of her work, she doesn't emphasize the feminism, she doesn't draw attention to any gender-defining characteristics. Some are there when they make sense to be there sure, but they're almost never part of the narrative (at least what I've read, can't speak for everything). What I'm saying is, just write a good character. Those things don't need to be (shouldn't be) tied with gender.
reasons?
tough. uuum. these are the ones I could come up with in a few minutes. probably wouldn't be my final selection if this were actually going to happen. (well, maybe lol) Gerard Way -- Just to pick his brain a little. Talk to him about the music-making process, about the concepts behind their albums, about his comics, and about any future plans he has. And get as much info as I possibly could on the 5th album that never came to be. and gush a little bit. Geoff Johns -- Same thing, basically. Talk about his experiences in the comicbook industry, get as many dirty secrets as I could about his experience with DC. Talk specifically about Aquaman and his work with the character. Same with Shazam. And beg him to write a Shazam monthly and return to Aquaman (as if that's up to him). Gail Simone -- Another comicbook writer. I would talk to her specifically about writing female characters, since she's like the best in the business for writing them. And of course ask her about her current Batgirl series. Along with Geoff Johns, I would ask them what it's like working in the industry and get any advice they had to give. Jaymes -- this guy who heads this geek community that I follow religiously. talk about comics, movies, stuff like that. just hang, basically. Johnathan -- an old friend of mine and the closest i ever had. We haven't talked in years. Our mothers had a falling out right as we went to different schools, so the friendship completely disintegrated. Not because we weren't friends anymore, but because we went to different schools and since our families weren't friends anymore it just kinda... stopped. Not any deep discussion, just a 'how ya been, let's get this friendship up and running again' type thing. sorry if you were expecting any deep philosophical discussions or meeting people who shaped human history lol. though this would be impossible in 1.5 hours. im sure i'll think of some better ones later but this is my answer Okay now yours. I've never done this before so the question will probably be p. lame but I'll do my best. What year/period of time from your childhood do you remember most fondly and why?
to? if anyone ill do truth
yeah that's... what i'm doing? did you miss the whole "i want this beautiful poster only given in imax theaters" thing?
this made me laugh
yeah that was jokes. still, maybe seeing it could curb some of the annoyance. at least i wouldn't have to avoid spoilers and all discussion of it.
because this gorgeous poster is being given free to people who see ASM2 in imax apparently Spoiler
im kinda hoping that if i watch it everyone will suddenly stop talking about it
? I started over entirely. I did change the center, like you said, and did some different things with the colors. I like this so much more. I'm not sure if I should do anything else to it. gonna sleep on it.
uuuuh well this is awkward. I'm not particularly close to anyone here (something I'm not exactly proud of). I guess DigitalAtlas, Misty, and Boy Wonder. I don't know these three people well personally, but I've had some pretty good discussions with each of them. And uuuh I guess DigitalAtlas, of the three he's the one closest to a real friend. Man I really don't like these questions of favoritism, I feel horrible now.
okay truth why not
why not do something other than play video games
whatsername - green day
im about to cave and watch frozen even though i said i was going to wait. i feel like the universe is trying to tell me to just watch the goddamn movie already with all the hype still being very present.
I don't generally post here but it occurred to me that I've hit a wall with the avatars I make. I need external input. And as much as I would rather not post this before using it, I would rather it be good. So tell me what'cha think. View attachment 38094 first revision
