yea luckily there's internet here so i won't suffer. just a little annoyed that this happened without anyone telling or asking me. the family came here for the weekend to celebrate some stuff and it was a "GUESS WHAT YOU'RE NOT COMING HOME" sort of thing.
I have been volunteered to stay at a relatives house for a couple weeks to take care of them. This was made official without my awareness and I'm less than thrilled.

Just finished listening to The Hunting Party. My initial impressions. This could all change with more than one listen. On the whole, I don't care for it that much, but this may be because I like their newer stuff as well and didn't feel like a "return to formula" was needed from the band at all. People who liked old LP and have been dissatisfied with their newer stuff will probably like this more than I did. For me, there were only a few standout tracks and the others were entirely forgetable. I still don't care for Guilty All the Same. My favorite track is Wastelands, followed by (in no particular order) Rebellion (dat intro. most energetic lp riffs ever.), Final Masquerade (barring the incredibly dumb lyrics), and Mark the Graves. A Line in the Sand is okay but way longer than it needs to be. The instrumental track, Drawbar, is okay as well but only because there's so little in it there's not much to find fault with. I really dislike the production on this album. Guitars sound just awful. I've heard productions go for this raw sound that work, but this one just doesn't. For me. I may come to like it in time but right now I'm not loving it. edit: absolutely adore the album art. Though I have to wonder if they'll ever use a different color palette for a studio album. Always grays and whites with a touch of color here and there.
